I own a lot of auto filters. The DOD 440 is just as good as the Boss T-wah. When testing auto filters, you really should judge it by the quality of the decay. Then spank it with some aggressive rhythm guitar to test it's responses. Although auto filter technology has improved over the years, the T-wah, or 440 can't fuck with an Ibanez AF-9. Too vicious. But these are sturdy, reliable (so far) and pretty damn good.
Actually he uses both for that song, the DOD Envelope Filter and a Electro Harmonix Small Stone, listen to the "I may be paranoid, but not an android" part (where the phaser is).
Qais its this, a phaser, a whammy, and a killswitch. Pretty hard to nail. Jonny hates guitar solos so I doubt he'll ever write something like that second solo again
Of the top of my head, I'd say no. The thing of it is that the filter won't necessarily sweep unless there is sufficient variation in the amplitude of what you're feeding it. And since a saxophone would generally hold the volume of an individual note relatively constant until you move on to the next one, you wouldn't really get to hear the decay sweep of the filter. Now, if you have variable attack time, that would be a different matter, since the filter sweep upwards (or downwards if reversing the direction) could be slowed down a bit to hear the change in harmonic content. Some horn players will plug into a foot-operated wah-wah, such that one can vary the resonant emphasis independently of the sax volume/amplitude. Strikes me as a more compatible match. Sam Gendel, who has a number of TH-cams with Blake MIlls and Pino Palladino, provides some excellent examples of using pedals with saxophone.
A few DIY clone boards are available. I imagine it will pop up again in the near future as Xvive recently re-issued the oddball optocoupler that lies at the heart of it.
HELP! I've noticed lately my DOD pedal is acting up. Basically as soon as I turn it on it works really well and is very touch sensitive and has that sweepy wah sound I like. But after keeping it on and playing with it for a few minutes that effect seems to really die down to a point I'm getting no sweepy wah effect at it. It's basically just making my guitar sound really bright and shiney but not that wet slippery effect that it should have.
Whats the song at around 4.40? On the other hand I was so sure that Andy was going to do a tom Morello song.....guess he had other tricks up his sleeve....
I got one of these to my birthday a couple days ago but the up channel stopped working after ten minutes of playing and the down channel barely made any noise at all unless I played ridiculously hard at which point it would distort the sound beyond recognitionSo I got it back for a replacement and the same problems occurred can anyone help
james gill are you using a battery cuz u gotta make sure u got the right power supply I was putting too much power in my walrus audio Janus and all it would do is make a clicking noise when I turned it on then I used a weak ehx one and it worked fine

I saw your comment and tried it with a adapter and plugging it in to the wall and it works perfectly imma try it on my dod 25b envelope filter next. i'd like to think the things we pour our money into should look presentable and well crafted. Granted, who kinda cares the knobs go over the lines? But still. I'd be a little less motivated to use a fuzz pedal if it was painted carboard brown and looked like crap.
I can't speak on how good/bad DOD's quality is on these particular pedals today but I owned two of these in Phaser, one in Compressor back in '97 & the Phaser ped's quickly began malfunctioning along with the Comp pedal completely fizzing out within a few short months.. At the time we were rehearsing 3 days a week with 1-2 gigs a week on top of that & this modal DOD just couldn't cope with the workload.. Meanwhile, both my mid-70's Morley Wah & MXR Phase 100 script that I was using during the same time period are both still fully functioning without any problems so unless DOD improved the formerly cheap electronics that was notorious in this line of pedals back in the day I wouldn't waste my board space on anything from this lineup..
It's OK, but too bright. The whole idea that "transparency" is a feature you need is the result of marketing lore. The best filter you can get today is the Maxon. It's a filter that DOES color your tone, which is what a filter is FOR in the first place.

Finally someone who understands! I see so many positive reviews for this pedal but I think it's shit quite frankly. Way too bright and pitchy. I have to completely readjust all of my settings every time I wanna use this thing which is annoying as fuck. You should be able to set your pedal once and have it sound perfect everytime you plug in and turn it on.

That may be because the signal is too hot and hitting the envelope threshold. Try putting it before dirt pedals or limit the output of dirt going into the DOD until you hear the effect “close”. These sound great once you figure out how they interact.

I have this pedal and it sounds awful. Inline or in FX loop it just sounds like distorted noise and almost no way effect.
