To be fair to it's time, this advert is classic only because it features an animal, in a post apartheid South Africa, staring a white or a black face prominently on TV series or movies, made a race statement. So the ad plays to a thread in all South Africans who grew up with race-neutral movies that featured animals. So if this clip is not your thing, you probably were not a product of the era, but you still can appreciate the human to animal connection as being relevant. That's mostly because Africa is about connecting on our own terms using technology, not letting someone else control the connection. The dog (staffie or staffordshire terrier) controls the connection here, showing simplicity and choice with great happiness. Still, a brilliant classic.
