- While we expect them to get periods in their early teens, girls are now starting periods as early as 8. Without period awareness, millions of girls could be at the risk of dropping out of school, that too at an earlier age*.

As someone who got her periods when she was 8 and was asked to keep it a secret from everyone at school, life was difficult. In a nuclear family with working parents, i would spend my after-school hours in a creche and there too I was under constant stress to be seated in the right manner so that I don't stain my clothes or any of their furniture. I remember consciously sitting on the floor or on wooden furniture so that I can remove it fast even if there's a stain.
Not exaggerating but the ad brought tears to my eyes and compelled me to come here and thank Whisper for this beautiful initiative that will enable children to deal with early periods with more awareness and less stigmatization.

When the teacher and the kids sing and dance, I suddenly felt cringe and got goosebumps. But I cried right after because I wondered why couldn't I find it "normal". I remember I also had my period early in elementary school and my mother was very worried as if it was a disease. At that time, menstruation was taught at school quite late. As a child who didn't know anything about menstruation, I was very confused and embarrassed

Came here watching a TH-cam ad. What a beautiful initiative. Proud to see our future generation being educated about periods. I'm 21 and a teacher in making and can't wait to educate kids about periods and spread awareness !!!! Kudos to whisper!

We have to stop this type of condition cause it will destry our child's childhood, she will become young before real time then what will she do.she will not do specialy in her life like that paying games, cycling,running,diving,etc.Also She will not study properly if someone has period means she is able to birth child so she will trying for sexual partner like that boyfriend, we should think about what will happen when we have this type of bad condition, we will not so progressive right now. So our generation is most important.

We really have come a long way from watching "blue liquid on pads" and happy adult women running around during periods to the actual red blood and kids having periods being shown to all. Wish I had seen this when I was 11 and got my first periods.
It is the most beautiful thing that boys are learning this too.
I'm sharing one of my worst experience in periods here.
when I was in class 10th. I went school on my period day. at midday one of my friends told me that my clothes from behind are stained too much.
then my friends told this to mam and we have to ask for leave from a male sir. we couldn't tell him the actual reason so we told them that I am getting fever. My clothes were so stained that I had to cover it by the bag. then I went home crying in the way and adjusting bag worryingly.
after reaching home I washed my clothes. then in evening my friend call me and said that my chair in school was dirty with blood and I have to clean it. I didn't want to go school next day but because of the chair I went. I had taken a wet piece of cloth and went school 2 hr early. there were cameras in classrooms ...so I cleaned the chair with the fear that the camera would capture it. One of my male teachers saw that I came too early to school. At midday my brother came to take me home...then the teacher asked him that why I came so early. but he didn't know anything about it. they both let it go in a laugh. then I reached home.
It was one of the most horrifying day of my life.
this is the reason that boys too should know about the periods and not in a way that girls are impure but in a way that it is natural and no girl should ashamed of it.

I first learned about these things when I was in 4th grade. Since I had a lot of free time, I would borrow books from older students and read them.
I think I discovered it in the 10th book. Initially, I was surprised and felt like I was so unaware that women around me were experiencing this, and we had no idea about it.

I was a village boy who was keen to learn and know about the world so when I got to the city and saw things my keenness increased.
Till 8th class syllabus is very easy and not so new. So I got a lot of free time. So we sat on the last bench and read random books like that I told above or Panchtantra or other .
What an amazing film...boys in the classroom won my heart...its time that there is no shame in boys 'knowing' about periods.....no more newspaper wrapping and no more missing schools. Periods is as natural as breathing. great work Whisper India

@@itzoishee4455She is not talking about paper wrapping before disposal. More often shopkeepers gives us pad after wrapping up into newspaper so that no one can see it she's talking about that wrapping here.
Exactly people never wrap alcohol , cigarettes or tobacco in newspaper but I don't know what goes behind the mentality of wrapping pads in newspaper
Our teacher explained female reproductive system in the class.. this was in 2007-08 batch.. to everyone including boys..
Usually hate TH-cam ads while watching lectures. But i actually came here to comment after seeing it. Such an epic effort. Love the message, love the innocence. This ad made me recall when I got periods for the first time. I was 10 yrs old then. I had no idea what periods were. Few days before that one of my classmates got it too and I thought someone used red sketch pen on her skirt and that's why she was crying. Few days after, I got my periods and I was in school. I had really high fever too. I went home told my mother about it and she explained it to me. I too used to think whenever these ads came that it might be for some disease. Little did I know it was all a healthy and normal thing. I am glad these things are being given due attention now a days. Awareness about this among both girls and boys is really important.

I started crying after watching this...i got my period at the age of 9 ,that too 14 yrs back when it wasnt as common as it is nowadays to get at a young age and i was terrified,i had absolutely no idea what and why this was happening to me,i had never paid attention to the ads on tv cuz they showed women of ages 25 in them hence i never had the curiosity about periods...and then they hit me one day like a lightning bolt and believe me till this day i have a strong hatred for periods cuz i never understood why i got them early when other girls hadnt and deprived me of things i could do as a child..i wish i had more info on what periods were back when i got them ...i am glad we are talking about this topic now

Period education is a very needed topic for young girls.. teaching this way is too good..
amazing initiative, i got my first period at 11 years old, but thankfully my mom had explained everything to me so i did not freak out so much, but i was still sad cuz most people in my batch didnt really get it at my age back then, but throughout time ofc i got comfortable with it and periods are healthy.
putting what period is in a song is sucha good way for the children to remember what exactly it is and know that it is normal. well done whisper ! such an appreciable act.
I was about to skip the advt to watch my preferred video. This beautifully narrated whisper advt didn't made me do it. This advt should be aired on TV to reach many more viewers especially in rural India.

This ad made me cry because I felt that I'm so unlucky as a girl in this world but these kids proved so nicely that they also suffer the same and it's absolutely normal + healthy and made me cry😢 Thanks to this ad never gonna complain again on being a girl again.

When i got my periods i too didn't know about this. I got my periods too early. Honestly i kept it secret even from my mother for 1-2 days. I got so scared that time what happened to me. This ad is very beautiful initiative. We as a girl should know earlier before we get our periods. Awareness is very necessary. Just came from the era when " we don't usually talk about periods' to living the era when I can proudly spread awareness about this to young children. ❤

First time I didn't skip an ad... So educative. Gilrs/females suffer alot of mental struggles in each phases of their life. Even though they aware of this like a small child, blood from their body makes them so frightened. Moreover the gradual changes in their body also make their mind to be upset.

I watched this add while paying some song, was waiting to skip it, but it was so meaning full! So beautifully put out! this education has to be done at a young age with such a changing generation! Kudos to the thought behind this! The first ad that moved me and i watched it 5 times!!!!!!!! I was 12 years old when I got this 😢 there was a lot of hurdle I had to face, firstly I thought 😅 having any cut in abdomen if my family got to know about that , they will scold me,probably they will not let me go outside for playing tried my hard to hide it from my family but I couldn't bear the pain and said to my cousin sister and thankfully she shared everything with my mom.
I was 10 just after my birthday and my mom and family said it's a big deal and not to tell anyone I was not allowed to play even in PT period, classmates isolated me... And this continued till 11th standard/grade... I went silent nd never said a word... I went silent and that was a day and it's today I am unable to take stand for myself even for right thing.. I am not blaming anyone... It was lack of knowledge and taboos
