I REALLY like the fact that there actually AREN'T subtitles for what the guy is saying. Forces the viewer to feel as alien as the first guy we see. Very well done and Walking Dead could learn a few things about pacing from this.
I continue to come back to this short years later. It is done excellently and the language barrier adds a whole new element, I think a whole movie done along a plot like this in this style, as in no subtitles for the Russian in such a tense situation, would be excellent. I have yet to find another short or movie that captured the feeling established in this one. All in all, excellent work!

Just like dayz. Bandits are best equipped. Wish there was more like "roleplaying" though. Everyone in the game just thinks about killing you at some point. Be cool if like the old days people would hold you up, capture you, take you like in this situation, etc. I think you can only do this with a dedicated player base, but there are roleplaying servers.

I highly doubt they would want to make a zombie movie (like we need another zombie movie already), but this is amazing short as it is, but filming a 90 min would take so much time and money, not mentioning developing a good story that most people would want to watch.

Sweet already found a sniper, goes into mountains, sees a car go by that stops, man runs out and then hears explosion, using my sniper experience from other games like Battlefield I measure the bullet drop and score a half mile head shot. Gets banned for killing "Admin". Fuck this! Plays TF2 for next hour.
How it usually goes for me: Me:"Friendly?" Player 2:"Yes" Me:"Good, join me and you'll live longer, I can guarantee it" Player 2:"Okay" *several hours later I have a battalion of players following me we we scavenge*
I realize I'm 8 years late, but this short is fantastic. The storytelling especially stands out. It's very well paced and emotionally gripping, much more so than a lot of movies that cost much more than I imagine you guys spent making this. Many kudos!

You guys are awesome...I mean using realistic action in your short was refreshing! When the Russian used his finger height to tell how much sun he had left was a great nod to those who would get it. Also, when the Russian got in the car at night and turned off the dome light right away so as not to bring attention was also another great realistic action that someone in that situation would do - in the real world at least! I don't think a typical Hollywood production would have done any of that. Keep up the great work on all your channels!!

I really like this one. At the end, you kindof feel sad that the Russian died. that might sound like a bad thing, however, on sam And Nikos part, thats really good. They did a great job at getting you to like the Russian in such a short time. Good job. I love the twist ending thouhg.

Good actors, good gripping story, great pacing, good action. I immediately cared for the characters within seconds of the video starting. I was glued to the screen the entire time. I like how they didn't show it was a hopeless ending. So many zombie stories end with humanity loosing. The guy's fate seemed bleak but it's left open enough that there could be a way to survive. Much more satisfying.

I miss the days of random adventures like this before everyone was KoS. I love the banditry and of course there's going to be KoS when you don't have much choice, but so much awesome gameplay is lost to it.
It's not necessarily a good idea to just be eating snow for your hydration. You could melt the snow and then put it in a canteen but you don't want to cool your body temperature down for no reason.
***** However, if the water is still liquid then it is still above the ambient temperature outside which is snow-covered. You would still need water more often than you need food so drinking a canteen is better than eating snow or melting snow by consuming some other more valuable resource.
I've seen birds eat snow for hydration purposes, but they do it when they can't find water, so it's a last resort type of thing. Emphasis on last resort.

The kill on sight thing in DayZ is more of a problem caused by how the mechanics have been. And also the inherent problems with communication that come with it being an online game.
As an independent film I'd give this 9/10 As a portrayal of DayZ I'd give it 2.8/10 + ambiance - too many zombies - nowhere near enough hackers - Russian guy didn't kill on sight

I really like this one. At the end, you kindof feel sad that the Russian died. that might sound like a bad thing, however, on sam And Nikos part, thats really good. They did a great job at getting you to like the Russian in such a short time. Good job. I love the twist ending thouhg.

This is actually my favorite one of their videos.
Good actors, good gripping story, great pacing, good action. I immediately cared for the characters within seconds of the video starting. I was glued to the screen the entire time. I like how they didn't show it was a hopeless ending. So many zombie stories end with humanity loosing. The guy's fate seemed bleak but it's left open enough that there could be a way to survive. Much more satisfying.

It's not necessarily a good idea to just be eating snow for your hydration. You could melt the snow and then put it in a canteen but you don't want to cool your body temperature down for no reason.
Having a lump of melting ice in your stomach isn't a great way of keeping warm!
***** However, if the water is still liquid then it is still above the ambient temperature outside which is snow-covered. You would still need water more often than you need food so drinking a canteen is better than eating snow or melting snow by consuming some other more valuable resource.
I've seen birds eat snow for hydration purposes, but they do it when they can't find water, so it's a last resort type of thing. Emphasis on last resort.

I've been outdoors in -25 -35 C for weeks, and hot drink is the only thing that can really warm you up, except for bed and blankets, fire helps, but as soon as you walk away from it, it ends, unlike tea or coffee, which will keep you warm for an hour, at least. Superiors also agreed, apparently, since while we did not always have proper hot meal, there were always hot beverages, at least once a day, winter or summer.

The kill on sight thing in DayZ is more of a problem caused by how the mechanics have been.
And also the inherent problems with communication that come with it being an online game.
It would need better Zombies then... Like seriously powerful zombies not little bitches that barely do anything.
