    Good video thanks, the tip about not staying too long on the solder point makes sense. Ive seen a couple of videos and you are the first to mention that.

    Very helpful! Mine gave error 06, tachometer error and the drum wasn't moving at all. Sure enough one transistor was blown and one was suspect. I replace all six with Infineon IKA06N60TXKSA1. $2.09/ea from Digi-Key.

    You can use soldering braid to remove execess solder fro areas where it isnt
    supposed to on the circuit board?

    Thank you very much for the contribution. Does this repair correct error F71? Or what is the component that causes the failure and should I change? I will greatly appreciate your valuable response

    • @electronicsprojects4708
      @electronicsprojects4708  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may or may not, F71 is a different for different models, so I would be assuming if I answered that. Look on the tech sheet, if it says it's an MCU CCU communication failure most of the time the MCU is a t fault. You can test the individual transistors like in the video.

  • @jasonphilbrook4332
    @jasonphilbrook4332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The meter is on V for volts when you are testing for short. It should be on Ohms (resistance) to check for shorts. nice helpful video in every other way.

    • @electronicsprojects4708
      @electronicsprojects4708  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no, this is on 'diode test' mode, it's a test for the threshold voltage at which 1mA will flow. The current may vary depending on the specs of your meter. One way, is OL (blocking current) the other way, usually you will get anywhere from 0.3v to 0.8v. You can also look up TH-cam videos on testing a diode or transistor for further explanation.

    One more question. I have a customer with a Jen Air down draft stove. Blower not running. I checked wires going to it for ac n dc current. I got no power going to blower. The control board is no longer available. I also realized later it could be an inverter type controller so my assumption of no power going to motor may be faulty. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    • @electronicsprojects4708

      there are 6 transistors, you would have to test each one to see if one of them is failed. Look up 'testing for a shorted transistor' on TH-cam if you don't know how. Then look at the part number on the transistor that's failed and order that one.

    For me the bridge rectifier blew, and some of the traces that acted like fuse! Probably I could get it fixed, but I’m worried if I bridge the burned link fuse with a wire than next time I get a short or a surge it might damage something else or fry everything!

    • @electronicsprojects4708
      @electronicsprojects4708  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usually there are multiple trace fuses, if there are you can just bridge the one that blew. If bridge is shorted, test all standard diodes in the power supply, every once in a while I find they can blow as well.

    What causes it to short in the first place?

    • @electronicsprojects4708
      @electronicsprojects4708  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motor is a heavy current electrical load, electronic transistors switching these loads over years wear out and can fail without any other cause.

  • @pavolhanzel5242
    @pavolhanzel5242 ปีที่แล้ว

    When the transistor on my washer shorted, it blew the whole section for that phase - the other transistor, the diodes, gate driver, even the DSP. I guess there's no repairing that :(

    • @electronicsprojects4708
      @electronicsprojects4708  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A short circuit, can definitely be catastrophic and even if you are able to fix it using 10 plus parts, it wouldn't be repeatable, because the nature of a short is it will cause different types of failures, so not much help in making videos on a failure techs won't be able to use in the field.

    • @electronicsprojects4708
