Oh, man. I always wanted that Spice Orange GC as a kid. It was one of the launch colors in Japan (so they got three compared to North America’s two; Platinum came later). It shoulda been *Metroid* themed, tho, honestly. Can you imagine it with the _Screw Attack logo_ instead of that black circle? That would be...whoa.
I've always wanted a Metroid themed NGC, specially cause they had the orange controller and they had those special bundles. Imagine the lil orange light being green instead as well!
It's well worth it to put a switch on it. Some of the $80-100 games in the US are only $10-20 for the Japanese version. All of the Mario Party games for example are only like $10 from Japan.
You don't have to hard mod it though...Swiss is pretty easy to use. And this is the DOL-001 model so it's good to go for modern HDMI displays out of the box with no modding.
That color is awesome. Got a Platinum Gamecube and modded a purple power led, xeno 2.0 mod chip, gba adapter, component cable, wavebirds years ago. With the purple led it reminds me of the SNES.

Japanese imports usually do tend to be some of the best maintained systems to buy. I think a lot of the reason the shipping was so fast is because the traditional airmail from Japan and other Asian countries isn’t permitted to the US - only Fedex and DHL can be exported from Japan at the moment, which, luckily, are way faster anyway.
Nice. This is the one I got. I swapped the board with my original platinum to make it NA and then sold the now JP platinum one. I also got the matching GBA player. Spice is the best one.

Back in summer of 2003 I bought this gamecube at an import shop, it was the one that came with the gameboy player and the store did the switch mod on it. I still have it, good times, it was a long summer of F-Zero GX.
Several years ago I bought an used black GC online, it was supposed to come with just one controller but it came with two, and the second one was orange. At first I thought it was a fake controller, but I quickly noticed it was genuine, and I found online that in Japan there where more colors available. I remember being proud if this controller because of how weirdly happy it looked 😂😂
I had a similar mail experience recently. I had something take 8 days to get here from the next state over, but ordered some items from Japan and it was somehow delivered in 6 days.

I grew up with both silver and indigo GCN console (the silver was my 2nd, because my indigo one it's mini-DVD drive died on me... but is getting resurrected by the end of this month or early august with a GC Loader), and it was a suprise for me to see that orange GCN, there is also a white one that is even harder to find (and again, Japan only color).
Picked one of these up early last year and it was basically brand new in box, still had the plastic and everything. Even smelled new. Came with a game boy player basically new in box as well.

I have that orange GameCube along with the orange gameboy dock, I bought it in Nagasaki to play fire emblem just to learn that region lock was a thing. Then I modded it and the rest is history.
I bought an orange Japanese Game cube. I got mine properly modded for the homebrew apps including gba player. My orange machine has the digital port but one of the bottom bays was blocked. Apparently it was a really late machine.
AHHHHH, I saw that at Super Potato in Akihabara in Japan, there were like 6 or 8 of them along with the Jet Black, Platinum and the iconic Purple. Behind it were a stack of N64s, on the same room were SNES consoles, and some DS cartridges.
I got the same gamecube, I added a switch in it though, didn't want to lose compatibility with NTSC J games. I used an SNES power switch which takes two of the squares of the right vent. It's very subtle and works like a charm!
My friend have a purple Gamecube color of it, and my parents didn't own a Gamecube for me. We grew up as a family played the Wii back in the day, and they didn't know that the Wii can played Gamecube games, but my parents don't bother of listening to me. The only Gamecube games I'd have so far was Luigi's Mansion, and Paper Mario the thousand year door which I can still play on the wii system. I'd predicted that you show case the Wii instead. I would love to looked at the inside of the system.

I thought my GameCube was broken for like the past 12 years because the lens inside the disc reader was a little dirty and wasn’t reading disc, but this past summer I took a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol to the lens and it started working again. All those years not knowing it was fix as simple as that lmao.
I live in Japan, and a local store had one of the Tales of Symphonia seafoam green Gamecubes last time I was in there. Totally complete and looked near mint. I forget exactly how much it was but they were asking some serious cash for it. Nothing I would have been able to just buy on a whim, unfortunately.

But they’re always used and dinged up or pre modded and expensive. I’m sure it’s not all of them. But I see all the photos of piles of them, and I get overwhelmed trying to decide which one to get.
I bought a symphonic green GameCube that was modded to play US games off of EBay last year for $240.00. No regrets. It was just missing the matching gba player and controller.

There was a particular edition of GameCube that just looked amazing. I first saw it when someone bought it and posted it on Twitter, and it was a Japanese Gundam edition one. It was red and the accents were black instead of grey. I think that aesthetic just made it super unique and badass. Also, I just looked up some more versions and apparently there was a collaboration with Panasonic that made a GameCube that could also play DVDs. And it looks weird.

I grew up with two things. A platinum GameCube and Mario Strikers. No memory card, so I would play the shit out of that game to beat it in one playthrough. Some of my fondest memories are shooting the crocodile goalie into the goal with my meteor strike shot.
I have the Char Gundam Gamecube, complete in box with the GC Loader installed, and the Carby HDMI addapter. I also have the Char Wavebird for it complete in box to.
DHL has been working double time. Anything shipped via USPS has taken forever. Stuff that normally showed up in 3 days took 2 weeks with no real updates on where it was. I'm personally a fan of Indigo since that's the one I had since launch. I have another one that I put the ODE into and I plan to spray paint it into a custom one.
I imported my own about a month ago. Just my luck, the laser has started to fail now. Gonna use a Multi Meter and adjust the voltage slightly to see if more power will keep it going for a while.
I have a few GameCubes (Orange, Black and Silver, all with matching Gameboy adapters)... My Orange one is my fav ! I did the switch and I did a XC mod. Paid $26 for my Spice Orange one on ebay... claimed "Junk" but, no cables, got it, plugged in and she works perfect and even read burned discs. I did get a minty controller for $30 and I am very happy with the system... It's a really nice looking system in person, a video does not do it...
As far as how fast your mail came in from Japan vs the US, my guess is your gamecube was shipped through DHL while your other packages are probably being sent through USPS. Even if your US orders are via UPS/FedEx, they're not necessarily going to be that fast unless the seller selected overnight/2day shipping as they're still recovering from the crazy holiday rush.
I want to see everything gamecube. I have the platinum and the black systems so far. Need an indigo and really want that orange. Glad to see it’s so easy to switch to english
I mean, coulda just swapped the boards from a US GameCube into the spice and putting the JP board into the old GC as a donor unit and keeping the original boards intact without modification. But it's cool to know that this is a thing too!
