- It is a rainy day in Tennessee. The best thing we could think of to do is to find some deals! We have been on FB Marketplace looking for all kinds of things. In this episode of driving for deals we found our whiskey barrel, hedge trimmers and a small ladder. It is great to be able to save a few bucks and meet great people. We are so happy with the craftsmanship of this barrel. Wait until you see it. Watch to the end to see all the deals.

My grand son in law at 27 ownes 3 plumbing companies. I've watched him cram for exams during family holiday meals. He does, septic, drain lines, residential and new construction. I had a major water leak 2 years ago and he guided me as to contacing a water remediation company, of which my insurance company agreed with and paid every penny. Otherwise I would have been ripping out sheet rock, etc other than just hardwoods. The mediators were here day one vaccuming water (I was up all night mopping and sopping up what I could get). and setting up dehumidifiers and fans and pricing repairs and checking humidity levels. My insurance company was most appreciative of the fact I had that guidance cause it sure could have cost then a lot more than it did.. Just the pipe repair, under a slab alone would have been 5k. I paid him 1/5th of that plus they changed out my water valves to the newer ones on my water heater and intake to the house. Trades are a dying commerce. I can't even fathom the money he is making. I just see what they spend. Lol Not only that but he buys and sells classic trucks on the side as a hobby. This Entrepreneurship was bred into him by his dad. Nothing like working for yourself. If he didn't have his plumbing businesses he'd still be making money doing something. My Grandson worked for him this summer and made enough to cover his college (he's on scholarship yet still has expenses) and to make and maintain his new car for the year. He actually worked two jobs this summer. He kept his high school part time job at Kroger. He still works there. I just don't understand why some kids won't even work one!

Everything is looking great. I love these videos bed that you bought. It would be beautiful with a bright colored real quilt on it with matching curtains. Love your barrel as well. Can’t wait to see how it turns out when it’s done.

So glad you didn't suffer too much from the hurricane, so much destruction and sadly deaths, it was difficult to watch even all the way from over here in England.... It's good to support traditional trades and use sustainable materials that if looked after correctly they'll last for so many years... He was a very nice man, it's great that you can connect him to a whole new stream of potential customers.

It's going to be so cool once you get the tabletop on it and get. you some chairs. I can see it now all let up. And you're right about Nashville having some awesome deals. Wow that barrel gentleman is fantastic! I love the one with the lazy susan. I could see just getting one that has doors and no shelf and have it outside your front door so the postman can put any packages in there. You can let him know about that so he can offer them!

You can always get a local carpenter make you an extra spindle for bedframe.
Get smaller blades for that fan.. Trim down the pole just a little.. Then you won't have a problem with the blades hitting the support beam...

As to your ceiling fan in your attic, you can get shorter blades for your fan! Then you won’t have to cut the middle bar!
Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know there are 2 tables with the type glass top you want in Knoxville. They are 2 for $95 (listed under "Set of heavy glass end table and coffee table " didn't know if you'd want to travel this far but they're glass with wood around the edge

The barrel looks nice. I would take the blades off the fan and cut them back. You can also buy shorter blades and replace them.

When I have to dust my high ceilings I put a slightly damp cloth around a broom 🧹 and tie it off with a hair tie. It works great for a simple dusting and cobweb clean up.

In Australia we pay GST on nearly everything except essential food items. GST stands for Goods & Services Tax and it is 10%. Gov here wants to raise it.
9.5% sales tax is the trade off for 0% income tax.I remember when that had the referendum. That was back in the Neal Bortz radio talk show days. Early 2000's. maybe mid 2000.. like 2004 2005, maybe a little earlier.. My partner, a TN resident called in in favor of. He didn't look at the long term 9.5% sales tax on EVERYTHING, just the zero income tax.
Yes, that's the only high tax here. Property tax, fuel tax, vehicle registration fees are all very reasonable. At least with sale tax, you have a choice to buy it or not. Use marketplace or travel to neighboring state to save on sales tax. Also the base has no tax.

Man, I'd be getting me a lazy susan. My FIL was a Merchant Marine. He taught me mayo, salad dressings, ketsup, mustard and a whole slew of condiments do not have to be refrigerated once opened. But, BEWARE, once you open mayo and salad dressings and DO refrigerate DON'T PUT EM BACK IN THE PANTRY or you're in for a world of hurt. Trust me on that one. My daughter (living in NC) did that one to me. She put it in the fridge and without thinking I put it back on the shelf. GROAN.............
