People who love studio pottery don't care much whether it's signed or not. There are thousands and thousands of really talented Studio Potters that never signed their pieces ... that doesn't mean if I see something I like and it's not signed I'm not going to buy it. I am going to buy it. Even when they are signed it's usually impossible to find out who it really is that made the piece. Sometimes even the ones that are signed with a studio name can't be tracked down.
I agree. It may take some research to locate the "studio", if at all, but great pottery is great pottery, signed or not. Same goes with studio art glass ! Side note: Michaelangelo signed only one of his many marble sculptures. The Pieta in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
I agree - if I like it I buy it! It's a philosophy with some potters that they make pots simply as useful and/or beautiful things that are meant for everyday life, rather than being higher-minded 'art' pottery. Thus, you don't need to sign them. I don't need the pieces I collect (and sell) to be signed and I don't care who made them. Some of my favourite bits I've kept for me are those pieces that look like someone just took a weekend class LOL I love a wonky pot!
Studio pottery has sold for decent money for a lot of years now. I don't consider studio pottery high end. There is only so much I'll pay for a mug or a bowl, and when I sell studio pottery it's not for exorbitant prices or it won't sell. Yes, there are well-known potters and pottery studios that may bring better prices, but for the most part studio pottery is not identifiable (even when signed) and values are what someone is willing to pay. Sure I can ask for better prices, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get them.
That hunk of wood was a handmade trinket log. It was pretty cool. They seem to run between $30 to $50. Most don't appear to be signed and that one is. I bet you could sell that easily.
Jocelyn, today I came across a very interesting TH-cam video about Jim Shore (it's his channel). It was so interesting to learn that he and his wife are avid quilt collectors (i think he said either 600 or 800 quilts). That's the inspiration behind his designs. Their latest video goes through how he and his wife worked like crazy to get his work recognized. He finally got the right connections and just really took off. It's very interesting.
The log with drawers, I would have not left that behind, maybe big to ship but not brakable.thats a unique piece that you don't see everyday. go back & grab it
The tiny vases would be nice for people with little kids. I bought one that my boys would get out of the cabinet and put wild flowers in for me. They thought they was doing something grown up.💜 They did it all by themselves. They are in their 30s now. 💙
Miss your family minutes with Andrew and the kids. You and andrew always work together so well. You have so much good information. Why is something good and why are you leaving it?I really appreciate that.
I’m in Australia & collect Royal Albert (started collecting when my grandmother gave me hers). There were some very nice & collectable patterns there, & they were very good prices.
Jocelyn, what I like about you is that you never give up, and keep going. Says a lot about life. Those tea cups saved the day, and there royal and beautiful.😅 ❤❤❤
I liked the marigold bowl with the drapery pattern much better than the ones with grapes, floral, and peacocks. I think the simpler pattern will look better in more decors. I love Fenton's Violets in the Snow pattern. I also liked the choir boys. I try to keep my Christmas decor more religious than secular.
Jocelyn, I think you should do a sale with just hobbyists pieces, especially since you have “mostly made by me” group now..people don’t care if everything is signed or not so many things I have seen passed up I would have bought, I have had booths for years and sell a lot and I think there is a whole group of people that would give up the signed piece for a good price…just a suggestion 😉 everything is so expensive in the world today that a unsigned piece or a hobbyist piece for a good price would be a nice change❤️
I think the closer you get to Baltimore, the more challenging it is to source items for re-sale. I've found the stores to be pretty thin in terms of inventory to pick from. Glad that you can do something with the teacup collection.
When in Ellicott City MD I was half expecting you to run into Liz from FlippinLizzie, she just adores you and has shown the booths she has there on one of her videos. I know she wasn't there because I didn't hear anyone squealing in delight!💜 Love the tea cups, I sense a "Tea for Two" sale with tones of Grey Gardens coming soon. Teacups, head scarves and dancing shoes.
At 15:31 there were some small gold rimmed footed pilsner glasses. They were a creamy pale yellow color. They looked interesting. Might be good for your bar ware sale.
That log with the little drawers is awesome. We have a prison rodeo every year in October down here in Louisiana and they make those kinds of items to sell at the rodeo. They can sell as much as 50 bucks. I would have looked you up and purchased if you had taken it home :( I notice you don't have much of that kind of stuff where you are. I love it when you come across a horse or cow :)
I’m sitting here in shock that you went to Goodwills in Ellicott City, Columbia, and Jessup. I hardly shop the Goodwills here. Next time, check out the 2nd Ave Thrift Stores.
When you find vintage items in original box and unused, make sure you designate it as NOS (New Old Stock) in its description. (Salt cellars with spoons)
Have them call a manager, up to price it I'm so sick of not being able to buy item's because of a messed up sticker, I ask and they do it last year I picked up a vintage Ceramic Christmas tree , that had no price and they priced it for me just ask some one to do it. 😊
16:36 😮, I shy away from teacup sets. I know people reuse them for bird feeders and candle making. I did relent with a 2-piece of delicate cup and saucer from Germany pretty little yellow flowers, Still waiting for a buyer! Only 99 cents each.
Love watching, but when you pass up blue and white chinoiserie I go nuts and also delft. I know you can't pickup everything. I check in every day and have learned a lot from you. Thanks for great viewing.
It’s amazing how much stuff you buy at my local Goodwills that I consider buying myself. Also, that Superstore isn’t really that great. I try to avoid it. I did hear that the Goodwill in Columbia is amazing but I haven’t been yet.

Yes, but when you are the seller you can ask and get much higher price. If you are doing a garage sale sure, but she is a ‘high end’ seller.

@@toddmurphy523 Agree.
Love the tree stump with the drawers. It would make a great riser.
I do really well with Deruta. The good size Deruta planters/cachepots go for between 150-400.00. Run back:)
I think that was "new" Fiesta

@@AnneLilley the hunk of wood trinket log was so cool, loved it too.
I wanted this!!!
It's often called a bandsaw box because of it being made with a band saw
When you were picking up the Santa and Mrs. Claus shakers, there was a random pair of legs sticking up out of a box. I thought they were funny😀
that tree branch with the drawers was so cool!

It's fun to check out your videos within minutes of your posting them, and seeing how fast the 'likes' add up. You're the best, Jocelyn!

The Deruta jardiniere was amazing. I could never walk away from that. Deruta always sells well for me.
I miss the booth restock videos and the shop videos .
Have you ever had any haunted items? Would love a story time for Halloween.
Loved the teacups!

I’m so excited to see you came to my town. I never get out of my house so I’ve never been able to go. Glad you did.😊
I love Royal Albert ❤. Enjoy your day 🌻

Fun trip! My cousin lives there. You passed by a "bathing beauty" in the first place but that place was jammed so I understand.

The purple candle stick holder is from HomeGoods
It reminded me of neodimium (or however you spell that) .
Even though it’s new, I think it’s really pretty
