I was a Survivor of Hurricane Katrina. The devastation was total & FEMA & other agencies finished the devastation with ineptitude & corruption. Hopefully much of that was fixed thru the years, yet,,,,, I Pray for ALL who was affected. I cry with you thru your pain. Glad you & Brett are safe. Ty for sharing

I live in South Carolina. I have a hole in the ceiling in one room and it leaked badly. No power, phone, internet, or tv for 35 hours. Now I just have to get my roof fixed.
Cedar Key was hit hard with huge damage.

What drives me nuts about the power outages, is the fact that so many of the communities are in power company areas that don't allow any solar power, or at least very little! I would have one of those batteries with the solar panels! Florida, and of sun but no solar panels!

Hey Brett, I’m in New Orleans. New Orleans city limits proper might be seven or 8 miles in diameter. But, when you speak of New Orleans, virtually, everyone is speaking of the metro area. Which incorporates East Jefferson, West Jefferson, New Orleans, Belle Chasse, Arabi, and Chalmette

Titled "The adventure (journey) of the camp ground". Part 1etc .... as a video playlist to be released to public at a later date 😁.

Maybe ppl shud build houses with concrete ,bricks or other material instead of wood & other soft materials tht r unsuitable for hurricanes

    • @lizbird9628
      @lizbird9628 หลายเดือนก่อน

I always wonder this 🤔 from UK ... with homes made of brick ...
But then I understand that even in the biggger storms here, the bricks don't always hold up, roofs still get damaged, trees take out power, cars and more. Water damage gets in, floods can ruin everything. And the debris from the heavier materials can do even more damage to property
... and it costs more to fix, especially since insurance doesn't cover it, because weather is an "act of god".
Totally Pro's and Con's ... and building for the majority of the year over the odd storm 🤷‍♀️

You are probably on a good diet and just wanted to let you know of a good TH-camr to watch. Her name is Lulu. Her channel is Lulu’s Way. She has lost a lot of weight and she shows her meals she makes. She travels in her van when she is not home in Maine. She on her way right now to Texas for a meetup. Not promoting her channel I just thinks she so inspiring. ❤

Key West to me is not a family oriented place to be. No beaches, etc.........rows of bars, pubs, restaurants and I'm at a loss to describe the occupants. Notice I didn't say residents because I'm not sure they actually claim residency status. Never been to Cedar Key but it reminds me of a quaint New England sea coastal town.

    Dear Therese, dear Brett,
I gained out of sudden 11 kg during 6 weeks last year and I was very sad about it. It was unusual and obviously also caused by my hormon inbalance, that is very damaged or gone due to my cancer since 5 years. I made a deal with my oncologist, both of us trying to lose 3 kg for 3 month, which seems nearly impossible, because I tried it in vain before.
Low and behold, I lost 10 kg/20 pounds in less than two months. She asked me, "how in the world did you reach this after 1 year of trying?!" I answered with a big smile:"well, this was easy: I had Ice cream, Cake, Pizza,.., laziness on my 8 week- holiday, walking at the sea, riding my bike, do and undo, what I like to, "left" sorrows at home, gained distance to stress at home, but most and for all I have eaten, what I loved to in order to be lucky...." 😂we laughed.
But seriously: There is a truth in it, that we are better able to lose weight, when we also have less stress. On the other hand weight comes, to protect us, when we are deeply emotionally and mentally stressed. Weight tries to protect us. Well, this is very kind but somehow uninvited as well.( yes, I know about this disbalance- thing from food and movement, but sometimes it is not the cause. It really is not)
Anyways, I am so happy, that I am at my normal weight again, although people nearly did not notice my gained weight at all, because I am tall and have a sportive figure. Important for me, was how I felt, and I am happier now and I feel more fitter again.
So my wish for you both is, feel loved, free, unstressed , home and happy as well, besides the art of nutrition.
My experience is also, that our body must be used to work with it's resources. I often have taken away its chance to reach my fat resources by eating some tiny things/little snacks in between, because there was a signal of real hunger. My production of insuline/level stayed high caused by this. But then you can't lose weight!. So I have eaten, what I loved and how much I wanted to, when I ate, but I made breaks between the meals and did not eat small things, not even an apple in between, to give my body a chance to take from resources, when it needs to, while making bike trips or walking hours at the beach. Tadaaa, and suddenly, I lost the weight to feel comfortable again. So I was eating more and real, fresh cooked meals again, and I lost weight. Isn't it absurd?
It is also a theme of aging. Our bodies change significantly, when reaching or passing the climactery. This is called the postmenopausal fat distribution. Women get small/somtimes bigger (😂)bellies, fat storage in unloved areas, like men as well. This is normal, even if we hope that our body stays like it used to be in our youth. But, this is an illusion, right?🤭
We also need a storage of fat for our immune system, in order to overcome illness and attacks better in all kinds. I am 53 years old now. I overcame the worst disasters and real nightmares. This little fight with weight is not part of it. But it is as important, how you feel in life on a daily basis, how you feel free, dynamic and fit to make a next step.
Feel hugged and all the best wishes to you both.
And I am still sorry , if my grammar and sentences are not so right, I am still learning my English, but I am getting better. Ultimately I am alive and I try my best and I love to watch you, and sometimes I feel the need to share my thoughts with you, that is, what counts.
Love to you from Anne, Germany 💫
