  • Grafting a tree with drill step by step instructions. In this video we show how to grow an apple tree branch by grafting the tree with a drill. Poor plant! Learn how to graft a tree or any fruit tree with a power drill. mygardenchannel.com/grafting-...
    GRAFTING A TREE (With Drill)
    Step 1. Take a cutting from your favorite apple tree
    find a drill bit to match, just a little smaller than the base of your cutting.
    Step 2. Time to drill! Drill at an angle that matches the other tree branches. Keep the bit on the edge of the tree. Once drilled through make sure to slice open the bark with drill bit, video shows this in detail.
    Step 3. Once the apple tree has its grafting hole its time to prep the cutting. Take the apple tree cutting and shave off the bark exposing the underneath white area.
    Step 4. Now trim the end of the branch like a wedge cutting into the apple tree branch
    time to test it now. Does it fit? Is there any excess protruding out of the bottom of the hole? If so, snip the apple tree cutting flush with the tree trunk.
    Step 5. Wrap the wound after the branch has been grafted into the apple tree trunk, use a simple plastic wrap and pull tight. Clear tape sticks well to the wrap and help keeps it tight!
    Conclusion... Did this help you understand a simple and easy way to graft an apple tree? Please share the video and give us a thumbs up!

    I wonder if it is possible to graft and root a different species using this similar idea. Except create a moistened ball of soil inside the plastic wrap?

      yes. keep the wrap on through the growing season so that the outer skin of the trunk starts growing over the cutting

    What tree did you graft it into?

    • @CloudSpirals
      @CloudSpirals 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably another apple tree... If you wanted, you could probably graft multiple varieties of apple onto another apple tree of your choice.
      Often, grafting is done to apple trees that are known to have strong 'root stock', but lesser desired fruit quality. You graft a more desired apple variety onto them....
      Some 'root stock' trees are known to have better disease resistance than the tastier fruiting varieties so grafting is a way of providing you with the best of both worlds.... disease resistance AND quality fruit.

    COOL Method - but hard-to-understand as taped...
    Pro-Tips:
    1. It is best to NOT use WHITE text when it's going to be imposed over portions of background that are largely white & grey; use a Saturated, Contrasting color, like medium blue. If you Absolutely HAVE TO use white, give it a high-contrast text box (that medium blue, or -green);
    2. When your subject is a tree branch just 1-1/4-in. dia., don't set-up (and leave) your camera to give a 5-ft.-wide field of view (most viewers can't Zoom-In DURING a video). Either zoom-in AFTER Your signature greeting - or start- & stick-with the close view of the subject...then swing the camera 45- to 90 degs to do your sign-off.
