I love this 5000 times.. I’m a nonscholarly Jung fan and have had this deck on my wishlist for a decade.. the mixed reviews on places like amazon have caused me to hesitate so thank you for talking about the books and showing the cards.. I respect your work so much..
I'm SO glad I came across this video. I've had the deck since the 80s and bought the Second book, when what I really needed (and didn't know until watching this video) was the first one which seems to describe the scenes in the cards. The black on the back of the cards is so much nicer then the white on the older ones.
@@BrianCormackCarr I'm now trying to figure out if the one sold on Amazon is the same one you have. I know you can get it at US games but at slightly higher price. What has been your results with the deck and what have peoples reactions to it have been if you don't mind me asking.
I haven't actually used it much yet, to be honest, and I haven't read for anyone else with it yet. In my initial personal readings, I like it, and find it works well as a good all-round deck. It's particularly good at tickling the intuition, due to the dream-like imagery. I find Wang's discussion of the archetypes and images to be interesting, but I'm not quite so struck on his delineations of the card meanings, particularly in the pips. He puts a very negative slant on the suit of pentacles, for example. However, that's not such an issue for me, because I tend to apply my own understanding of a particular card, independent of (but informed by) the deck creator's interpretation.
@@BrianCormackCarr I'll have to wait to see what you mean by the negative slant. I'm getting the book in the mail soon. There is a pdf on his reflections of his growing up, but there's very little about him online that I can fine. His own personal art is interesting.
this is my own video. I was so disappointed by the book and how little it tells you about what's in the pictures. th-cam.com/video/YrUWIzaqSW4/w-d-xo.html
So I have a question about this deck, and I was hoping you or someone else could shed some light on some thing for me. So I’m very new to Tarot reading, I mean I’ve been doing it off and on for years, but I’ve only recently started doing it regularly and have been enjoying exploring the Jungian tarot deck in particular.… My concern is as follows: Although I know cards have different meanings depending on where they fall it seems like a lot of the cards, Particularly in this deck have extremely different meanings than they do in other decks. I got the tarot psychology book along with it which has the meanings of all the cards. And the deck itself comes with a small pamphlet that has shortened meanings to all the cards as well… And then I have “the essential book of Tarot,” Which is a tiny little book that came with my learner deck that I got at a child’s Toy store, LOL. I’ve been struggling with the meaning of one card in particular, the 10 of cups, which seems to have the common meaning of “a happy family beholds a rainbow in a scene of great joy signifying fulfillment, happiness and domestic harmony, and even reversed it means the family might be squabbling but not to sweat the small stuff... okay, so this doesn’t seem like extremely high stakes I’m thinking… but wait for it... Then we have the jungian deck where it says for the 10 of cups, and I quote “ Saturn in cancer, pain and sorrow, end of a cycle, death, downfall, loss of profession. Divorce, banishment, loss of love and sickness” that’s the short version in the little pamphlet, the longer version is even more intense calling it a more final death than the actual death card itself… How are these cards the same? I don’t understand. And if so many cards are different depending on who you ask, why are there even books on the subject? LOL I’m so confused and a little frustrated by this. I’m sure it’s just me and I don’t get some key thing about the reading of tarot, but I could use a hand so I can get better at this, LOL because right now I feel like I’m failing miserably.
Just to reassure you - you definitely aren't the first person to be confused by this deck! Wang's meanings are far from traditional, certainly in relation to the suit of coins. I'd keep things simple and go with a learning the meanings from the perspective of a fairly standard tarot system - like the Rider Waite Smith, or the Marseilles. The book I'd recommend for a really solid grounding around *any* tarot deck is Gail Fairfield's "Choice-Centred Tarot", which is sometimes published as Everyday Tarot.
I've had this deck for years, the original version in the old flimsy tuck box, but only in the last few weeks picked up the Tarot Psychology book. I'm really eager to dive into it now. The similarity between the Lovers and the Devil is very interesting.
I am new to Tarot, and I am starting to think this was not the deck I should have purchased as a beginner. But I am still eager to learn because I was introduced briefly to Jungian psychology in the book Women Who Run With The Wolves, by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Glad to watch this video & to learn more.
I would not study it to learn to "read" but just to study they deck and the ideas... I think when you've done that work and you get a regular deck to learn to "read tarot" you might find that the wax on wax off has helped you a lot! 😉
I only just recently heard this deck even existed. Thank you so much for sharing. It's great to see all the cards. I don't know if I love the art or not, but I am enjoying how it is worked out. Definitely adding this (and the books) to my list. I love diving into Jung and archetypes!
at 10:02 you say you will read from the book Tarot Psychology, was this a mistake? It sounds more like something that would be in The Jungian Tarot and its Archetypal Imagery. I'm asking because I'm thinking of buying the deck and only one of the books, and this is the sort of explanation I am after
That Lovers card is odd. In the rws, the man is looking at the woman, the woman is looking at the angel, and the sun is behind them. My understanding in Jungian terms, the man is the conscious, the woman unconscience (seeking higher conscious), the angel is the collective unconscious, and the sun is the energy that gives life.
Got this deck today. Unfortunately, not sure I'll work well with it, since the change in a lot of the card meanings given is sort of a hurdle. The box and cardstock are excellent, though.
Ouch, I got the third (red) book, I'm waiting for it in the mail, but I'm not sure now if I'm gonna get value from it, cause I like the Golden Dawn correspondences. I also read somewhere that he even changed the associations of each Sephira with the planets. Am I gonna find anything of value in this book? 😅 Darn, I wish I saw your video first!
I’m so glad I found this video as it’s helped me realise this deck (and the books) are not something I really need. Don’t you find Mr Wang’s art a little naïve?
I used to have one of the books and the booklet. Do you happen to know where I can get the small white booklet without having to repurchase the cards? I need the meanings.
Thank you so so much for this video! Would you be willing to film yourself doing a reading with this video? I'm interested to learn how you use Wang's interpretations.
Well, for a general overview of his thought, I’d recommend Murray Stein’s ‘Jung’s Map of the Soul’. A good one for Jungian practices to support individuation is ‘Becoming Whole’ by Bud Harris. I also enjoy ‘The Portable Jung’ by Joseph Campbell...

Same!! I've gone back and forth and I'm watching this thinking... that's **exactly** what you want!
Ohhhhh my. I’ve had this deck and books on my mind for ages....you are my very favorite enabler 😘💚
Lovely! Thank you for showing the cards for this Jungian Tarot! This video was super helpful. Glad the TH-cam algorithm lead me to your channel! 🌟🌟🌟
I’m glad to have you here! 😊
Got this deck, I love the diagramatic style artwork. The Tower card looks very comical though - it's like someone having a barbicue malfunction : )
What a great review! I'm looking forward to purchasing the books and deck. Thanks!

Oh wow... you wrote this 3 years ago. Lol. I. Sure you've already done whatever you are going to do in this regard. 🤣🤣🤣

I've been back and forth on this and... it's a yes
Excellent deck and I dare say essential! Thank you for this wonderful walkthrough! ❤️
I like no words and no numbers on the cards because it let's me stay in right brain and let left brain just take a nap.
Interesting deck and books. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thank you for this!!! I just stumbled upon this deck and I can’t wait to get it.
Such helpful information - thank you!
I’m currently researching this deck. You are a smart cookie . Reading Man and his Symbols currently
great review on the jungian tarot thank you

May I ask what deck the card is from that's at the bottom of your tree light please?
Sure! It's the Green Wheel Oracle by Danielle Barlow. I did a walkthrough and review here: th-cam.com/video/U_1ilymuHjU/w-d-xo.html

I love Jung and the book's interpretations but to be honest, I do not like the deck's artwork.
The Uruburus is the wheel itself, I think.

I used to have one of the books and the booklet. Do you happen to know where I can get the small white booklet without having to repurchase the cards? I need the meanings.
Or a website.
I would email US Games Systems and ask.
Thank you so so much for this video! Would you be willing to film yourself doing a reading with this video? I'm interested to learn how you use Wang's interpretations.
Thank you for this video, i know now that i dont have to buy the books! Do you know any other good book about Jung?

Brian Cormack Carr thank you very much, i am going to research these books!!
I would read "Memories, Dreams and Reflections" it's his recollections of his life as told to a author.
