      I don't have C8 but this is going to be a standard procedure going forward!

    One of the easiest cars that I have to do the change, thanks for the video!!

    Great Video, thanks 👍
    I'll probably construct the same style ramps. Exactly how high are they at their tallest point?

    Excellent video - very well done.... Nice garage too :)... my TV is only a 24" model... also really like you DYI ramps. Would you mind sharing the specs on them as I'd like to build a set too. I'm in Northern CA and the dealers want $150+ so I intend to my own oil changes. Thanks, again, for the very informative video. Larry

    Looks pretty easy. I don't know why on the C5 they put the drain plug in the front of the oil pan so you have to get the whole damn car up in the air. I want to do it myself but trying to figure out my best option being in a apartment complex has been tough. Hall Chevy nailed me for 150 bucks for an oil change a few months ago and i'm not going to keep paying those kinds of prices.

    I got, GOT on my first oil change. Listening to my “Geek Squad “ lil bro. He was saying different cylinders had to be drained. Still only paid $180 after taxes cause of a buddy discount. Seems like the oil + filter around $100 whenever u can find it. I plan on doing my next oil change MYSELF. What about the transmission fluid change?

    Looks easy enough. My '2024 C8 Z51 manual references 2 drain plugs. 1 standard drain plug that you accessed plus a 2nd sump plug and the filter. Any opinion?

    And do not forget to check the filter/block to make sure the gasket came off with the filter. Ask me how I know.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn. I've never seen that before.. but will definitely be more cognizant. Did it dump all the oil?

    • @andytaylor5712

      No, I was changing the oil on my 97 SS Camaro, started it up and backed it off the ramps. Not all the oil but a big mess in my driveway. Looked at the filter upside down in my drain pan, turned it over and no gasket. Funny thing is I always wipe the block before I install the new one and for some reason I did not notice it was still there. @@VetOnVettes

    Great tip on the cup to take off the filter. I wish I had known that decades ago, I would have saved myself a lot of time cleaning up an oily arm.
    When does the lift come in?

    Super simple oil and filter change. I like the cup idea, but if you unscrew the filter just a couple of threads and let it drain, there will be no mess. Did you really start the engine without oil or just warning others? I could see that happening so I left the fob in my toolbox while I did the oil change.

      I did not start the car with no oil in it, however, I have inadvertently started it in my garage by accident just having the fob in my pocket.

    The manual does not say to get the oil temp to 175 degrees when changing the oil. The 175 degree requirement is when you are checking the oil level.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It needs to be 150° + for an oil change. For proper flow there is nothing wrong with getting it to operating temp. You are correct, for checking oil it needs to be 175°. 👍👍

    Did you just back up to your homemade ramps or did you jack up the car and place the ramps underneath?

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just backed up.

    Great video but one caution - Chevrolet says the C8 takes Mobil 1 "ESP" 0W40 which is Dexos 2 rated. Last time I checked the "Supercar" blend was Dexos 1 rated.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Dexos2 was exclusively for diesel engines 🤷🏼‍♂️

      From what I've read, the ESP oil was rebranded to Supercar.

      PF64 AC Delco. I have no idea why I omited that. It'll be in the description. *** I do mention the oil filter @ 1:20***
