Fantasy arcade music is the best and Dragon spirit & dragon sabre are one of the best. There's a metal version somewhere

Thanks to the Namco medley in Smash Bros., I now have a new favorite soundtrack. It's so obvious the sound engine is similar to the MegaDrive.

They did not exactly cover it, but they used it along with other retro Namco songs in a medley.

That's because the electronic hardware of Sega, older computers with DOS, and many arcade machines like this one had the Yamaha chipsets.
My father has a (very old) yamaha synthesizer from the eighties with some of the exact same soundsets as this. In fact one common instrument you hear throughout these OSTs is the hard raspy horn-ish sound called "power brass" in its files.

Well, the Genesis was designed to bring the arcade experience home, so it only makes sense.

Gradius III arcade is the hardest metal known to man. Dragon Spirit is ball breakingly difficult, but it will never compare to Gradius III.

Forte Ø It may be because I don't play Dragon Spirit that much anymore, but I find Gradius III AC easier to beat than Dragon Spirit. I think I'll start recording attempts of me trying to beat Dragon Spirit now. (for the record, I've beaten Gradius III on PSP on Very Difficult, no joke)

I didn't. Heck, I wasn't even born when the NES came out, and I didn't know about Dragon Spirit until some months ago.
It feels like I've heard it in some TV show or something. When I think about it, it kinda reminds of the Jeopardy Think music, but I think it's something else too. I realised some notes reminded of one of the jingles from Tomodachi Life, though.

Yeah, I actually thought I'd heard Slash Man's theme on MegaMan 7 but no matter where I looked I found nothing. Then I came to realize it was similar sounding to the final Dr Wily theme of MegaMan6. Kind of odd how that works.
