The Canadians should not have issues with the statue being built. Some people from Canada, Europe, etc told me that they stopped displaying religious statues of their own so that people of other faiths that have settled in there should not feel offended. This could be one of the reasons for this. Another point that she made is about Christians in India. There is a very big difference. The Christians that live in India have their ancestral roots in India itself. Long before the colonists came. So they are as Indian as every other person in the country. Whereas the Hindus that live in Canada do not have ancestral roots in Canada. That's the major difference. The main reason why Indians have and are still moving to Canada is because of higher pay and living standards. If they got what they needed in India, no one would ever leave. Do we see a lot of Canadians settling down in India and building their own places of worship? No. Finally, I feel there shouldn't be any issue if a statue is built. If won't weaken the Canadian way of life and their faith.
Domestic Canadians are too few in numbers and they do not need to go to another country and they need workforce to run their country. So do not say irresponsible things. I am an Indian (atheist), UofT alumni, and i have seen how indians people are in canada. They indeed do practices of hinduism as they used to in their sacred country (india) which is totally wrong. I have also noticed some people do it by knowing just to show domination of their religion in foreign country. many of my friends ask me about this and only thing i say is that "im here for education, ill leave after that". They now dont care even if i am not doing any religious practice, if you are indian, youll be questioned. The Canadians should not have issues with the statue being built. Some people from Canada, Europe, etc told me that they stopped displaying religious statues of their own so that people of other faiths that have settled in there should not feel offended. This could be one of the reasons for this. Another point that she made is about Christians in India. There is a very big difference. The Christians that live in India have their ancestral roots in India itself. Long before the colonists came. So they are as Indian as every other person in the country. Whereas the Hindus that live in Canada do not have ancestral roots in Canada. That's the major difference. The main reason why Indians have and are still moving to Canada is because of higher pay and living standards. If they got what they needed in India, no one would ever leave. Do we see a lot of Canadians settling down in India and building their own places of worship? No. Finally, I feel there shouldn't be any issue if a statue is built. If won't weaken the Canadian way of life and their faith.

There are people of much smaller poorer nations that have moved abroad for better pay and quality of life. People see the per capita income and standard of living before making a move. Why would they go to India in the first place? India's gdp per capita rank is 125th and HDI rank is 130th in the world. I agree that there should never be forced conversions. Every one is free to convert to any religion as they like by their own wish. I know a person in the US, who converted to 4 religions in the last 10 years. Reason: He wanted to learn about other religions. Did the Govt stop him? No. Each one is free to choose. I hope the same happens in India. I am an Indian (atheist), UofT alumni, and i have seen how indians people are in canada. They indeed do practices of hinduism as they used to in their sacred country (india) which is totally wrong. I have also noticed some people do it by knowing just to show domination of their religion in foreign country. many of my friends ask me about this and only thing i say is that "im here for education, ill leave after that". They now dont care even if i am not doing any religious practice, if you are indian, youll be questioned. But, its fine because i understand its like invasion for them, i never had too much nationality feeling. I just want a land to live upon so i totally accept what canada has to say to indians even tho some of them (like me) didnt do anything wrong and are just here for good education and not to show some kind of dominancy in religion stuff.
