Western hats aren’t just for cowboys working in the field. Sorry sweetheart, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. It just takes confidence to wear a western hat. They’re very utilitarian since they can protect from the sun, rain, snow and even cold weather.
Flat Cap during the summer: They also make them in 'Linen' rather than 'Wool' so they can be worn by PGA Golfers during summer tournaments. Variation: Greek Fisherman's Cap worn by George RR Martin (Game of Thrones author), also by The Beatles on the cover of HELP, Soviet Union founder Vladimir Lenin, as well as British Labor leader Jeremy Corbin.
Here in Texas - a cowboy hat is a sharp look for almost any occasion - especially when paired with some boots, jeans, and a button up shirt of any sort

Wear what you feel comfortable with. A man may look good with certain clothes and accessories (OK for photo sessions), but if he’s not comfortable wearing them, it shows as he moves around.
I think it's hilarious an old country bumpkin like me has every style hat listed here. My favorite daily wear hats are baseball or trucker hats. I have several Stetsons including a leather baseball cap for winter wear. Fedoras and cowboy hats are also good depending on the weather. Nothing beats a fedora and a trench coat on a cold rainy day. I have an excellent Panama hat for fancy summer picnics and very broadbrim straw hats for fishing or gardening. In general I don't see people dressing appropriately for the weather or social situations any more. My parents came from humble beginnings and grateful they taught me to take pride in how I dressed.
Flat Caps and newsboy caps go just fine with jeans and a T-shirt. They offer a touch more dignity than a ball cap in almost every instance and are incredibly versatile as they can also be worn with more formal attire. I wear them all year long, favoring cotton versions in the warmer months. This has left my ball caps hanging on the hook.
I love how many of these videos advertise “don’t do this” or “don’t do that” and immediately I’m like, putting on a trucker hat like what? (In a New York accent) “what are you gonna do about it”? lol
May I challenge you in Panama hats? My experience with genuine Panama hats especially those made in Ecuador is that they travel very well and pop back easily after being rolled up.
I will say that a flat cap made of linen and a in a light color actually seems to keep me cooler in the summer than a baseball cap. I also feel like it works a bit better with a Business Casual outfit than a baseball cap does from a formality perspective. Would love to wear a Panama hat or a straw fedora in the summer, but the wind where I work kept trying to carry those hats off.
I myself wear a Fedora Outback model. You could say it’s an acquired look that not everyone can pull off. But that should only mean that there is a hat style for everyone. Just find that acquired look that works for you. When you have random people coming up to you and genuinely saying they love your hat. Then you know you’ve found your style hat.
most poeple can pull it off because of the utility factor. it the trilby that hard to pull off because it short brim make it lack utility. wearing trilby can make some one look goofy because of the short brim lacks utility.
@ this is true. But a lot of people tend to shy away from Fedoras because they are often mistaken for cowboy hats. I get it a lot myself. And with that comes some of the negative feedback. Some people think it’s cool to do the whole “howdy, partner.” Which is a way to mock someone for those that don’t know. Anyone who wears a cowboy hat knows what I’m taking about. It’s gotten so bad that those that wear the hats don’t even say it anymore.
I’m not feeling her advice, style doesn’t mean you need to look like everyone else. Wear that bucket, wear that cowboy hat, put them on with a suit, wear it on the red carpet. Be yourself and take a unique, edgy risk. Mixing looks will always make you stand out, I have many styles of cowboy hats and dress in urban attire around New York City all the time. Mix and match your style all you want if you feel comfortable and like your look that’s the most important part because no matter what you wear there will be someone won’t like your style.
Flat capper here, currently aged 34. Besides being asked if I’m feeling “peaky” today - most guys and gals like it on me. Short brimmed and linen. Hides the bald spot haha

I wear a variety of hats dictated by the weather and/or activity. This is why a man needs several hats. I have no idea how many hats I have but it's well over twenty.
The whole mix up with flat caps and Peaky Blinders has gone off the rails. I remember seeing Irish, Italians and Jewish people in St. Paul wear flat caps year round and was a signature of theirs, like those in New York or Boston. I seen it as a carried down style from the older generation.

I've wore ball caps and trucker caps pretty much every time I'm outside. I worked outside my whole life and you gotta have a hat to keep the sun outta your eyes. 50 years at least. I have just bought a fedora
I got some 'bucket' hats some years ago & that was because I was (& am) sick-to-death of the 'baseball' (trucker?) type hat(s). It's my opinion, but it's so overly-common-its-in-everyones-blind-spot-for-decades type hat, but it doesn't mean we all have to wear the same thing. 🙂
I wear a peacock hat. It's literally 5 feet with 568 plumes from an actual peacock. Someone once told me to stand out as surmised by Albert Einstein in something he theorized dubbed the "peacock theory". So far it has done really well with sparking conversations. Would highly recommend.
I like hats. Climate and milieu are important though. A flat cap is great when you don't know whether you'll get rain or not. You can stuff it into your pocket until you need it, then put it on when the rain starts. Conversely, a panama hat is great if you know the weather will be dry and bright, but useless when it's wet and pointless when it's cloudy. Where I live, there might be 10-20 days a year when it would be fun to wear one. A trilby or fedora is smart and keeps the rain off but is much less convenient that a flat cap. It says 'I am expecting heavy rain or want to demonstrate my personality'. Meanwhile, baseball hats just say 'I am an American, or wish I was, or think I'm a rapper'. Bowler hats have a badass history, but I've never seen one in the wild ;)
¿ How about the 'Castro' style military hat ? If you know how to mold them and size them, I think they are unbeatable; at least for a more narrow face like mine. I've actually gotten compliments for them, because of how I've fitted them to my face and how unique they look (Virtually don't see anyone wearing them; and in my opinion, I think it's a good thing).
Thankfully you left out Berets! I burn in the sun so hats that are light on top (white) reflect the sun and heat. Black on the bottom hat rim absorbs the suns rays so they don't reflect back into your face. Of course I did wear a helmet for my work environment in the DOD!
As a proper gentleman the only time I’d put a beanie on is when I’m doing outdoor activities in temperatures below 40. Otherwise it’s a gauche head accessory better left to the unwashed.
What about the PorkPie hat seen frequently at the Jazz and Blues Clubs. I’m African American from the south side of Chicago and hats are integral to living and having fun in the city. A good Pork Pie or Fedora is essential since my high school days.
I love hats. The older generations used hats a lot. I only wear a baseball hat doing sport. When working in the hot Sun as a gardener I usually wear a panama hat. Women seem to like it btw. if I'm doing heavy groundwork or tree pruning and climbing I use a kind of turban head scarf usually improvised by using a second tee shirt It's a great protection from heat thorns scratches and bumps. In winter mornings a black beanie and donkey jacket is essential. And as I'm irish I have my old treasured tweed flat cap which I only wear in winter, or when I want to show my Irishness. I wear it with my traditional Clothes for family occasions. I Have to admit the trilby looks smart classy but with character but a bit too formal for me as I don't like to wear suits. Hats are practical but can seem silly or pretentious when worn out of context .
So I’m from Texas, born and raised and I can solidly say the cowboy hat is not only for the country side you can pull off a more casual style with cowboy hats and over here it’s hot the sun is strong I where mind all the time not because I just came off the ranch but because it’s hot and the sun is everywhere and a cowboy hat offers way more protection then any of these other hats. Please think about this next time I understand fashion but you comfort and protection should always come first = function over fashion.
They make lighter weight material baker boy/newsboy/ivy cap/flat caps. I live in CA and wear them all the time. They can also be more casual and sporty and I even wear one to the gym.
Summertime in Texas and it's hot AF outside. 90 and 100+ degrees! The boonie covers and trucker mesh hats are vital for protection against the brutal sun, fashionable or not! lol
I see a lot of guides and such for plus size guys but I rarely ever see any for people on the opposite end. I’m 5’9 weigh 140 pounds a guide for skinny guy wear would be a great next topic.
Skinny guy practically can wear anything even can get some good stuffs from woman section... And get any big discount since all the small sizes left to buy...
Baseball caps have options and basic functions. Flat caps are a step above baseball caps and come in equal material varieties Panama, Fedora, and bucket hats look great on some but not so good on others. Fleece caps are your best friend in the winter. Your style is your own from the color, pattern, and pommpom or not. Again, your style is your own with a cattleman's hat. No mention of Aussie/safari hats. Oh, well.

What about the PorkPie hat seen frequently at the Jazz and Blues Clubs. I’m African American from the south side of Chicago and hats are integral to living and having fun in the city. A good Pork Pie or Fedora is essential since my high school days.
Have to find my Mankini 😂😅
I disagree with flat cap...baker boy cap comment. They are also sold in mesh and are very lightweight.
If you are a flat cap wearer, don’t panic as you can get cotton and linen flat caps for summer wear 👍
Make a video for bald men style tips . Its really rare on TH-cam. I bet you're gonna get a million views😊
Tribly fedora hat is a great option to
Wearing a beanie in the summer is like being a flat earther. They just want to annoy others
I wear a flat cap all the time. I'm in Singapore!!!
A hat makes whatever man wears it a follower, not a leader. A leader doesn't need to hide his head in a hat. True fact.
Tell that to the Generals 🤣😂
Trilby! No baseball caps, proper men's hats for men!
A trilby makes you look like a goofball in many places.
What about a "derby"? The only hat I can wear that doesn't give me "hat hair" is a ball cap that doesn't crush down my hair.
They make lighter weight material baker boy/newsboy/ivy cap/flat caps. I live in CA and wear them all the time. They can also be more casual and sporty and I even wear one to the gym.
Flat caps are available in linen for warm weather wear.
Im getting back into hat collection and man some of the shit are so different like new era sizes stitching country's made in
Most women don't care as long as you have money.... that's the reality
Adults shouldn't need someone to tell them what they can and cannot wear. Be yourself and wear what you like.
All caps can be made in linen. So no idea why you limit it to heavier fabrics.
Who is she I'll wear what I want when I want
Cowboy hats are great. Their coverage is awesome
🥳🤭
Lmao, the panama hat yea im going to work wearing that 😂😂😂
Summertime in Texas and it's hot AF outside. 90 and 100+ degrees! The boonie covers and trucker mesh hats are vital for protection against the brutal sun, fashionable or not! lol
Wouldn't be seen dead in a baseball cap.
Small guys have the world of clothes to pick from. If you are skinny and can’t look good then hire somebody fast.
Baseball caps have options and basic functions.
Flat caps are a step above baseball caps and come in equal material varieties
Panama, Fedora, and bucket hats look great on some but not so good on others.
Fleece caps are your best friend in the winter. Your style is your own from the color, pattern, and pommpom or not.
Again, your style is your own with a cattleman's hat.
No mention of Aussie/safari hats. Oh, well.
Akubra makes a great hat for the money.
What about the ubiquitous Tilley Hat. Always good for an adventure.
Borsalino makes beautiful hats !!
