I am also from Ireland, and we are doing very well being in the EU, and having a large diverse and educated workforce to help our companies succeed. Most Irish people value our new inhabitants. We have a higher income as a result. Ireland is very much an educated country, and so we are a great place for immigrants to do well. Xenophobia is not what we are about. We have a long history of our family members going overseas. Multiculturalism has serves us very well. One only has to look at our GDP per capita.

I'm sorry, but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. So you believe that free market = prosperity? Okay, let's compare western European countries (France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, etc...) and the United States.
Which country is richer? Of course, the United States.
Now, in which country would you like to live in? Or, which country is better for someone from the middle class? Which of these has a higher quality of life and is happier overall? Of course, it's the European countries. After all, in Europe, we don't have 30000-40000 people dying every year because they don't access to basic healthcare.
The point is, I'm not advocating for socialism/communism. I don't know why you even thought I did. I even said that W.E. is richer than the east. Is France, Germany, Denmark socialist / communist? Of course not. They're capitalist/mixed. Or to put it better, they're social democracies. Basically, it's a capitalist market, with a strong social safety net, strong unions, free healthcare, high quality education, etc. That's the best system, as it makes sure everyone has an opportunity to succeed, unlike say, the US or UK where Amazon workers have to rely on food stamps or government support to feed themselves.
You have no idea about the Gilets Jaunes. If you did some research, you would find out that they're not just protesting about the taxes. The person they hate the most is Macron, who's basically a banker cutting taxes for the rich, cutting social services and gutting worker protections. Lol, if you proposed healthcare or railroad privatization to the French, they would torch your car immediately. If anything, they want the government to spend more money on welfare, healthcare, education, transportation, and they support raising taxes on the rich.
It's a bit sad that other countries don't have such uprisings. After all, France has one of the highest qualities of living. Sure, there are many strikes happening right now in the United States and other countries, but it's nothing like the Gilets Jaunes. Once again, France leads the way.
