    You are seriously the only person who activated alarm in 20 reviews I’ve looked at you are today’s Champion

    Thank you! Yesterday, I bought an old, 2nd hand 'Made in Germany' clock. And threw away a recent, unrepaireable 'German Movement' clock made in China.[ I live in Austria and it is very sad to see, how our engineering culture is lost (and destroyed) systematically.]

    I bought one of these in 1987 when I started a new job with occasional travel. It’s the PERFECT travel clock. It’s simple and reliable and apparently indestructible. Everybody that travels should own one of the German made ones.

      how loud is the ticking?

      jwserge , I can’t hear it tick at all. The volume of the alarm is just perfect for even my wife who can be a sound sleeper.

    And that is a fantastic clock I had the exact same one and I love that clock. I actually purses that brand new in 1987. And I kept it all the way to 1999 when it came up missing. That's a fantastic clock.

    This is BNC002, i have a one. I'm using it for 19 years so far!
    The second hand's (arrow's) movement is extremely silent (not annoying).
    Accuracy is about +/- 10 sec bias per year! It is so pleasurable!
    I think it is just my lucky one. Not sure if every 002 is the same silent and accurate.
    I'd like to get one more... for 50 cents )))

    That is one nifty little clock! I'll have to keep my eyes at at thrifts and yard sales fir one of those. And I so agree on your statement in German engineering. Elegantly simple, effective, and user friendly.

    This is their alarm clock. Their travel clocks are slimmer.
    These days the packaging will say "Designed in Germany".

    Neat little clock! I have one similar in style, but it was made by Dynadisc, as a marketing item for the Nooter Corporation of St. Louis. I paid 99 cents for it, and it has never let me down. Plus it was made in the USA.

    I still have another model of that kind of clock. One cm wider or more. It is also remarked made in Germany. Clock working perfect and I remember my father bough it in Iceland around 1988.

    I have the voice activated version of this clock and I've had it forever. I love the fact that when the alarm goes of you can just shout at it and it will go into snooze mode for a few more seconds of zzz's

    I just found this exact little clock in my linen closet...made in Germany...and the same numbers as you showed. However, no battery? Do you know which battery should be used for it. Many thanks in advance

  • @Trance88

    I have what is basically the same clock but completely Chinese made and from around 2008. Mine also has a snooze/light button. You hold the button down to light the dial but once you let go of it, the light turns off. I currently use it in my closet/laundry room. I also use it when I go camping.

    Damn I've seen those everywhere! Also, in an episode of Mr. Bean, he had one that he stuck in a glass of water when the alarm went off. haha. Maybe it was made after 1990, because before that, it would probably say "Made in West. Germany".

    In the 80s these were Made in W. Germany. This would have been made in late 89, but most likely the 90s.

  • @jaykay18

    I own one! Not positively sure when or where it was made, I think around the late 90s. Mine has an incandescent light for the dial. I seem to also remember the alarm on that one had an interesting way to shut it, I think you just wave your hand in front of it. The green is not just on the alarm set dial, and the button on top, but also on the alarm hand, so you automatically know they're all related. Alarm sounds the same on mine. Not positively sure where it is at the moment, I should go look for it!

    • @HarleyBadger
      @HarleyBadger 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jaykay18 Oh yeah! I just looked and indeed the alarm hand is green also. If you find yours sometime, I'd like to see a vide-errr

    A classic piece of Braun (pronounced ‘Brown’) product design from the studio of Dieter Rams and his team in Das Programm. Gary Hustwit’s documentary ‘Rams’ -see trailer - is well worth a watch for anyone interested in more ‘less but better’ product design, or look up Dieter Ram’s Ten Principles For Good Design - they can be applied to anything. A great find at a silly price, I’m very envious! th-cam.com/video/AZU5xP5lNHk/w-d-xo.html

    Does anyone know if you can open the face of this? The hands have warped with age and the minute hand gets stuck on mine and I would like to repair it.

    • @jwserge
      @jwserge 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did it to mine. The reason was - the second arrow (hand) hit the minute arrow. The sound annoyed me... So i dismantled the watch carafully and fixed the arrow. Sorry, i don't remember the detailes... Remember only that i opened the face with a thin screwdriver, hocked it with a screwdriver.

      The front is clicked in from the front side, so I opened it with the blade of a tiny and slender pocket knife.

      I used one of those suction cup with a hook on the top that you flick 90 degrees to lock it, then pull and the face comes off without damaging the plastic face. I had the same problem with warped hands too.
