Exactly! it's silly. All they had to do is copy Telegram Poll system.. it's perfect. It asks while creating the Poll if it's one selection or multiple answers. They'll eventually fix it
One more useful feature is avatar in profile photo
Earlier i used to great a group, of two people and kick the other person, and then pin it at the top.

Its official now, when you click on New chat, it gives Message Yourself option
Which basically opens WhatsApp chat with own no.
Whatsapp's UI on android is too outdated

You can still do the same. Make a group of 2, and then remove the other person, now it's only you in the group. Name it whatever you wish to..
