- Isiolo is a town in Isiolo County, of which it is the capital. It is located in the middle of Kenya, and lies 285 kilometres north of the capital Nairobi. The town grew around the local military camps, much of the population being descended from former Somali soldiers who had fought in World War I as well as other Cushitic-speaking pastoral communities and the Ameru community. The town has an estimated population of 80,000 people, most of them living in the rural outbacks of the District. There is an increasing urban population in the recent years, especially from as far as Moyale, Marsabit and Mandera. The Isiolo town is also becoming a centre of interest because of its newly acquired status as a resort city cashing in on the popular Samburu and Shaba Game reserves, which have become preferred destinations after the famed Maasai Mara.[1] Isiolo lies along the long A2 Road, leading towards Marsabit and Moyale much farther north.

12:03 let me chip in, Buffalo springs is part of the samburu national reserve ecosystem consists of the ewaso nyiro (brown water) in local samburu dialect that marks the boundary between isiolo and samburu counties, the park is home to the special five, Somali ostrich, grevy zebra, reticulated girrafes, gerenuk, beisa oryx, park is arid but the wildlife is sustained by the ewaso nyiro River
The north of Kenya is impressive, thanks to the infrastructure development the once sleepy towns along have sprung in life, 5:26 isiolo is the cosmopolitan town of the north of the equator, arid by nature located in the center of the country Somalis, bora a, samburu, turkana, rendille are all found in isiolo, home to the lewa, Buffalo springs national park whichs a wildlife Corridor

Well said. At Isiolo it would have help to put into perspective how critical that town is. It's also a focal point of the LAPSSET project. Also, it's the link between the LAPSSET and the Mombasa-Nairobi-Malaba corridor too.
