    This is the thing I also love about DM not only the soulful music but also the 'lads' have no pretence or heirs and graces about them, they are what they are, three lads from Basildon UK who make music. I love the way they just have banter between each other and the audience, they don't come across as 'I'm a big star' or pseudo music intellectuals. they're just three blokes having fun and making music, that it just happens millions love. ❤👏👏👏

    This was a great experience to behold in person and I feel VERY FORTUNATE to have been able to ask Dave the question (at 37:50) about his perspective on Martin's lyrics after becoming a lyricist in his own right. He gave me a very heartfelt and thoughtful response and it was great to have the whole band looking directly at me as I listened, looked and took his answer in. A great night overall... DM never lets me down.

    I kind of miss those clanging metal sound samplers and also atmospheric background audios from the early DM days and the band being a bit of on the subversive side. I wish on a few new songs that Martin or Dave would write that they would implement them again somehow. Hearing Andy say (at 9:06) he's was on bass synth, Martin on lead synth, Vince on rythm synth and Dave in-charge of the drums astounded me especially when Martin said they weren't musically trained and that electronic raggae stuff (14:28) was so hilarious for being so serious.. what could DM have become if that did happen? Bless you Andy🙏 Love DM❤‍🔥Forever. Great talk, great interview🎤☯

    Really...'the' best interview with these world class boys, ever...no doubt in my mind. All people within and round DM seem to have formed some sort of 'institution', that is built on a very strong and firm foundation, where there appears to be so much respect for eachother. Loved every sec of it...thanks a lot for uploading.

    • @MicahAckerman
      @MicahAckerman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What struck me was just the respect amongst the three of them. At this point in their lives there's no need or room for ego, and it seems they really have a deep love for each other underneath the simple Dave and Martin smiling at each other on stage. It's like they've finally come to terms with the sum of the parts in so much bigger than the individual. That had been a problem for this band for years, now it seems they have accepted they are all brothers, very different from each other, but unable to reach the heights without the other...... Even Fletch who has the role as the buffer between the press and the other two, they need him for the glue, for the grounding. To be DM

    Being a fan for a long time, I love seeing them together in an interview. I admire them so much and am influenced by them in writing my own lyrics. So much popular TOP 40 doesn't interest me. I want the words to mean something and take some thought. I love their concerts and am happy that they have endured for so long. So my best to them in their new album and tour. I'm surprised they have good sense of humors. I must say I always will miss Alan Wilder, he had a great influence on their sound. One More comment; I've always wondered too , how much Fletch influences their music and sound. I've heard a few tracks off of the Spirit album and haven't had a good listen, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    A very nice interview, although I'm 5 years late. Seeing this after Fletch's untimely death is rather sad. While he may not have contributed that much musically speaking, he was nonetheless an integral part of Depeche Mode. The big question is, will Dave and Martin call it quits now? In light of the fact that it's been 5 years since their last album which is longer than usual and they're not getting any younger, and with the passing of Fletch, they certainly won't be releasing a new album and touring anytime soon if that was the plan prior to his death, so it seems like a good time for them to call it day. 😢

      Like you i am revisiting everything Depeche Mode i can find on you tube since Fletch passed away. It really kicked me as it was so out of the blue. I recently saw another interview with Fletch and Daniel Miller. In it Fletch said they had been on a 4 year cycle for ages. A year off, a year writing, a year to put the album out and a year touring. With Covid that cycle would have been extended but this year or next we should have seen something. I’m not sure we will now what with Fletch being the one to get them together and was the glue of the band
