So enjoyed the conversation. Thank you! I did not like the ending, but i loved the show as a whole. It just felt that the ending betrayed the story and the characters . The story was going in one direction and then, bam, Day was ending the relationship and undoing everything that had been built to that point. That the couple did not fight for the relationship and separated for three years was infuriating.
Thanks for sharing! I definitely I still overall have a positive view of the show, it did a lot of things right and gave us a new side of Jimmy & Sea which has been a true highlight!!

Pixie bringing up the whole attire doesn’t reflect the lifestyle is so true. For a while I keep seeing poor main characters with the latest IPhones and I’m like “you can’t be poorer than me, sell your phone and pay your debt!” 😅
Oh! I could not click fast enough! Last twilight for me was absolutely perfection until the last two episodes. I will sit back and listen now. Plus Freedie is a favorite BL reactor ! How cool is this!❤️

I agree, Alexa. I was disappointed in the 11th hour breakup, long separation, and i will not even start on Mhok taking 100 percent of the blame for the breakup and Day taking no responsibility. That said, the series was beautiful and Sea and Jimmy nailed their characters. The ending somewhat ruined it for me, but is largely very good for me.
I actually teared up a little when all of you were praising JimmySea's impeccable performances when portraying MhokDay. I've never felt this kind of strong connection to the characters. They were so REAL, relatable & still perfect in a flawed sense of way. Also the chemistry is outstanding.
Another thing I wanted to talk about (byulsarang already made a video about it) is the casual intimacy. I've been enjoying bls for 5 years (although I was 13 back then), but lots of bl dramas rather focus on the "desire & lust". The tenderness & genuine love fall short in such scenes. Not with last twilight though. The way every slight touch (ep 6 day feeling mhoks outfit, ep 11 when mhok declares his feelings, ep 4 changing clothes). They were more electrifying & beautiful than the majority of love scenes out there. Obviously it's due to P'Aof's direction skills & JimmySea's talent & hardwork.
I enjoyed this episode a lot! I'd love to see another collaboration between you & Freddie. It's such an interesting video. Love you all ❤❤

great listen! I think the point Pixie made about the show attempting to be relatable only to end up being unrelatable is such a good one. If they show wanted to tell a story about a blind person being given the chance to see again they should have just told that story. It would have been lovely like all stories about miracles are. But that 's not the story they started telling so the bait and switch at the end threw me off. In retrospect however, we should have seen it coming, because byul's point on the marketing highlighting the walking stick while it's never actually used was also a bait and switch on the entire premise of the show.
I didn’t have nearly the problems with the finale that other people did, which is not to say I thought it was perfect. The more I think about it, the more I think that when he comes back from Hawaii, Mhok is trying to feel out where Day is emotionally and in regards to him, which may seem to flatten out his character if you don’t know that’s what he’s doing (and if that is the case, what he’s doing is not being made explicit enough in the show). I was also dismayed when Mhok apologized to Day for feeling pity for him when that’s clearly not what was going on; it may be Mhok telling Day what he thinks he wants to hear, but if so, it is confusing. To me what happens in the previous episode is that Day is so obsessed with resentment at being pitied, that he sees it in places it isn’t happening (for example, getting the money garland for best dancing at the hotel was not out of pity as he believes, but because he really was the most enthusiastic dancer). So it definitely seems in character, even if we know it’s wrongheaded and ignores what Mhok has just confessed. Given all that, hearing Mhok apologize for pitying Day feels jarringly wrong.
I don’t think Day having the successful second surgery at all negates how self-sufficient he had become in the three years since the break up. Was it necessary for a happy ending? Not really, but it’s also realistic that even having discovered self-sufficiency as a blind person, Day would still jump at the chance to have a second surgery, and the fact that this one is successful is not really unrealistic, since in actuality, about 90% of all corneal transplants are successful, at least in the short term. And I don’t think that the fact that we see the now cured Day helping someone else who is blind means he now looks down on blind people. Also, I didn’t read Day’s final monologue at all in the way that the four of you seemed to, and I honestly don’t think it was intended that way.
So, with all of that said, I don’t think in the end this series is quite as completely satisfying as Aof’s other series, from A Tale of 1000 Stars through Bad Buddy to Moonlight Chicken, but I still think it is stronger than most of the other Thai BL series I’ve seen. (And by the way, I am one of the Vice Versa lovers who is very glad to see Jimmy and Sea finally get the recognition they deserve.)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! We wanted to read differing viewpoints, so much appreciate you sharing yours! For me personally (just speak for myself as Alexa here, I think the execution in the finale distorted a lot of what their intentions may have been when I was watching. For example, like I mentioned with the monologue, I think maybe the intentions would have read differently for me if they’d placed it at a different moment in the episode. Things like that. In general, I just feel that they tried to pigeonhole a lot into that final EP and I think, for me, it could have benefitted from a better time distribution as well. Again, just one person’s opinion and the episode in general is just 4 of our thoughts. We don’t want them to take away from anyone who enjoyed the finale at all! Totally agree that seeing Jimmy & Sea get their much deserved recognition was a big highlight of the whole experience!!
Thanks for this! I had very mixed feelings about the series overall and wanted to praise its performances & motivations. Obviously a lot of care went into this, and I know the Thai BL entertainment industry is still in its nascent stages, so I don't want to be too critical. That said, since I come from a criticism/journalism background, I always wondered how content creators navigated fandom vs. honest feedback, so I'm glad that there was nuance in this conversation about all the sides. Representation stories are always a moving target. No one is ever going to be 100% satisfied, and I am willing to gloss over a lot. But the series' ending really did disappoint me. Alas and alack.
So glad to hear that the convo felt nuanced, that’s definitely what we were going for! The show did so much we loved but also felt really frustrating in the end for us - the mixed feelings are real 😮💨
