Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops!MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
I’ve seen a video here recently between a flipper and an ex- SA at an AD. They spoke about what really goes on inside the AD. The SA mentioned that exhibition pieces such as the highly desirable ones like GMT, Daytona, OP, etc are already spoken for. Apparently they need to wait for a piece to come in to replace that “exhibition” watch in order for them to call the customer to pick up their watch. So if you see a model like the Pepsi GMT on exhibition, more than likely it’s already spoken for….. Rolex doesn’t want empty cases anymore because it ruins the whole “Rolex experience” of trying on watches and the whole luxury feel.
Talk to 100 different ADs and you will get 100 different policies. Certainly what you say makes sense but again remember, sales policies are set by individual store owners

Very sad what’s happened to the Rolex brand. Thousands of people have been completely turned off by the deceitful games played by the ADs. I sucked up to both ADs in my local area for several years to no avail. It’s amazing how they have so little regard for serious buyers. I have nice watches and after my third Omega I have completely lost interest in Rolex. If I want one I will go to Chrono 24 and get one, but the truth is the wrong people are now wearing a Rolex. Sorry. Yes there are some beautiful Rolex pieces but there are many beautiful watches today that are equal to or better than a Rolex and less expensive.
Yeah true very sad. But the real reason most want a Rolex is because of strictly human nature…. We all want something we can’t get. If Rolex were readily available, then it would turn off most customers. Another case in point is that most buyers these days can only afford 1 Rolex. They don’t want that first luxury watch to lose its value. So let’s say I buy a GMT, years from now I can sell it close to or more than retail…. Versus if I buy an omega and the minute I walk out it loses its value.
He definitely has a point but you’re right. There are choices and sometimes you have to change venue. But it is for sure a pain in the butt for willing buyers.
@@gphikicks7040 Interesting perspective. I’m not sure Rolex wasn’t exactly in demand before we first saw these games around 2017. At any rate…This will make for an intriguing MBA case study, for many years to come.
I was looking at a rose gold rootbeer in the exhibition case. The Salesman asked if I was interested purchasing. He disappeared and came back and said I could buy it today. I think most exhibition watches are actually for sale but only for who they feel is worthy.
8:57 (your supposed honorary booking ahead system) and also 9:19 (you're then preferential treatment proving you don't honor your book ahead system). It is physically impossible to have two people ask for a spot for your kennel at the exact same time on the same day. One of them is going to ask you first, even if it's just minutes apart. If the random person you haven't met asked for it first that day (and you told him ud get back to him) and then your close customer called later and you gave him preferential treatment, then you truly don't have an honorary first come first served book ahead system. You're just as crooked as the Rolex ADs.
In your closing line, you mentioned who needs AD's... when ppl can buy from or sell to friends. That actually happens but at an inflated price somewhat close to or similar to that of grey market reseller/flippers. Most of these so called friends would also want to make a profit. Would you consider them your friends? I don't consider such ppl my friend. A lot of people calling themselves watch collectors and enthusiasts are actually not. They are actually flippers looking for profit since their goal is the dollars in their pocket.
I was in a jewelry store yesterday that sold Rolex. After some conversation, he proudly admitted he could get any new Rolex model I want from an AD within a week! Very disheartening when like many others I stay in touch with AD to mostly get the runaround. Side note, I did buy a Sub Date first time walking into my local boutique early this year.
What happens if you accidently drop an exhibition only panda daytona and the crystal cracked? Will they make you pay for it and send you home with the watch? A full service is way cheaper than the asking premium price from the gray market.
@@marcgoldbergdogtrainer it was an interesting group of people. Watches are luxury items and I think peoples interest in them comes and goes as things happen in life and money comes and goes
At this point with the watch market tanking, if Rolex ADs think they can treat their customers like scum, then good luck to them. Not interested in them and when they go bust, they will only have themselves to blame.
Rolex now requires AD’s to maintain a certain level of inventory. That minimum inventory are the Exhibition Only pieces. The AD chooses what to display and what to sell. Those watches belong to the AD, have been paid for, and the AD posses all the paperwork to sell those watches. As pieces come in the AD chooses to display the new piece or sell it on. If they choose to display it then something can come out of the case and be sold on to a customer. A good AD will maintain a mix of models and metals in the case and will attempt to keep the exhibition pieces fresh to prevent any wear due to handling. Others will maintain the cheapest models in the case for exhibition. Lots of smooth bezels, steel, ladies, etc. My AD told me the minimum inventory number he has to keep in the case and he also told me that he does try to keep one watch in reserve, usually a black steel submariner. I know thats the watch he uses for leverage when it’s time to sell a big ticket diamond engagement ring or something that has a really great markup on it or if he needs to keep a regular repeat customer happy. I really appreciated his honesty about it and at the end of the day those are his watches and he chooses how to allocate them.
