    I got so irritated trying to replace this mount about 4 yrs ago that I gave up. And I refused to pay $400 for someone else to do it. THANK YOU for posting a way to do this without dropping the subframe or using an engine hoist!

    I have a 2006 Scion Xb, and a 2002 echo. Identical engine/trans in both vehicles. I need to do all 3 mounts on my echo, and this is the one i'm dreading. This is the only video I've seen yet that suggests taking out the bracket to get the mount out from up top, instead of trying to fish it out by jacking up the engine and taking off the crossmember from underneath [like i did on my last echo}.
    You sir, are a genius. Videos like this are what youtube is for.

    You are Genius. TRQ video even lower the subframe and fished out the mount from the bottom. You da man!!

    This is the only video that doesn’t tell you to lower the subframe or hammer the studs out from the mount. Bravo! Great video.

    Thanks man, so now I know it definitely can be done the harder way, but easier way at the same time. I guess you just gotta have some patience going from the top.

    Great video!!! Thank you so much for this info. I saw a lot of videos saying that you need to loose the subframe, but you made it so easy for us!

    I guess the only downside to doing it this way is that it’ll be impossible to get a torque wrench on the smaller bracket bolts. Does seem more doable now without having to remove the subframe though. Thanks for the video

    ☝🏼This is the way!
    I did it this way a couple years ago. The hardest part of the whole job is breaking loose the bracket bolts... mainly the top one. There's just not a lot of space to get your wrench and strong arm in there. You really need a good 6 point wrench and positive attitude.

    Great video. I've had my car up for like 2 months debating how to get to this one. Did you mostly unbolt the bracket from the top? I've seen other videos showing to remove a lot of stuff including the exhaust to get to it. This looks much easier. Thanks man 👍🏼

    Kev, i have a 2005 Scion xA . I m planning to do the threee engine mounts .. On the rear one, did you lower the subframe a little bit like whsts show on TRQ video doing the same rear replacement?

    • @Kevstipsantricks
      @Kevstipsantricks  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not on the XB not sure about XA. But it’s likely the same. So I’d say it should work just like in my video. No need to lower subframe if it’s the same. But good luck either way! Let me know how it goes!

    Bro...... I literally thought this was going to be an impossible task that would involve me removing my k member. I'm still driving it at 289k. Slight head gasket issue that I patch every 6 months ,but she's still running. Would just like to say that thankyou and I will be doing this.

    What about the 24mmlong cross bolt getting it out and putting in you left that out?

    • @Kevstipsantricks
      @Kevstipsantricks  ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean the main bolt that secures the bracket, and the mount together? I didn’t think that needed explanation. You just undo it and slide it out. 🎉

    I gave up mid-install on my Scion Xa with trying to line up the holes for the new rear mount. Removing the old mount took a few hours. Dropped in my Toyota (from Longo Toyota) ream mount and then spent a few hours trying to line up the bolts from underneath the car. Raising and lowering the transmission via a scissor Jack with a block of wood but I couldn’t get the bolts to grab. I used a prybar and had them close but after six hours…I’m done. Replacing the starter the previous weekend made me overconfident. Sigh-off to the mechanic she goes😂

    is it just on the jacks? no jack on engine or anywhere else?

    • @susanhawkins4606
      @susanhawkins4606 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Shouldn’t need to jack the engine with this method.

    Was the jack under the engine or transmission? Do you have to support both the engine and transmission or just one of the two?

    • @Kevstipsantricks
      @Kevstipsantricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So I used a piece of wood 2x4 maybe a foot long. On top of my jack and put it up against the oil pan of the engine. Since the engine and transmission are bolted together you only have to hold up one. Good luck! 🤙🏻

    None of these guys ever show how they actually broke the bolts and nuts loose. Its damn near impossible to get those bracket bolts.

    • @laujoyjoy
      @laujoyjoy ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, the bolts are so tight that is impossible to break loose. Did you end up being able to figure it out?

    What wrench or tool did you use to unbolt the one that goes across the motor mount. The same wrench? It seems like it might not work since the bolt is deeper to get to. Thanks!

    • @Kevstipsantricks
      @Kevstipsantricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking about the long bolt that goes through the middle of the mount. It is 14 mm on both ends I put a box wrench on the nut side close to the exhaust and either a gearwrench or socket can't remember.. on the the bolt side.

    Did you have the shakes really really bad before you done this?

    • @Kevstipsantricks

      Only the engine would shake while idling, and it would move (more then it should) when shifting from park.
