Fontaine in a nutshell: *Haha corruption goes BRRRRR* If Fontaine is similar to Piltover of League, then they probably have the most crimes out of all the nation in teyvat. I honestly hope in Fontaine that we get playable characters that works as a detective, a spy, an assassin, and a police, and perhaps another lawyer like Yanfei.
Fontaine, seems so interesting, I hope it has a steampunk aesthetic. Also, I wonder, what was that "injustice" she(the current Hydro archon) first committed that led her to becoming so judgemental(maybe something to do with the previous archon? There are no exact answers and I hope Mhy provides), what is she hiding behind her own mask, and what could she possibly know about Celestia that she might be willing to share. Ei cut herself off to early and her sister prolly was the one more connected with Celestia, Venti has not gotten a chance to speak to us yet but still shows discomfort, and Zhongli is held by a contract, maybe if Traveler helps the Archon she might share info since it's only fair to repay a debt. Also isn't this the first time we are/might be seeing multiple gods? The other three have no one/they have passed. It would be cool to see the old Archon come back or smth and have a tussel.
Well the original Hydro archon is dead ( at least that’s what the game say but you know they can change it whenever.) So we probably wouldn’t get that there.

Wait, I just noticed something. Every hydro user has a strong sense of commitment to their ideal justice, but also an inferiority complex of some kind. Childe wants to be stronger/the strongest, Barbara wants to live up to Jean's potential, Xingqiu wants to be up to par by Guhua standards, Mona is striving to outdo/escape the shadow of the "old hag", and Kokomi feels like she took on the responsibility of Shrine Priestess before she was adequately prepared. Maybe that ties into the spectacle and flaws of the Hydro archon?

Fontaine for me is probably one of the most important nation, most likely because of how interesting it is: 1. Except for Dendro, Hydro characters take up the least percentage of only 5 (some speculate that Ayato is also a Hydro character) until now. 2. The God of *Justice* , this means that the Hydro Archon's archon quest will give us a lot of information on the Heavenly Principles considering it is basically the universal law in Teyvat Not only Fontaine will be exceptionally interesting because of their archon's ideal of "justice", it will give us a deep insight of Celestia and the Heavenly Principles. I think Natlan would be of somewhat as interesting as Fontaine, their Archon's ideal is *War*, so unlike the Hydro Archon who will give us a general insight to the world of Teyvat through its laws, the Pyro Archon will possibly give us a lot of information on the Archon War and Khaenri'ah considering both events are considered as "wars". Sumeru will possibly give us information not in the past but more of a present Teyvat, giving us an insight of the current situations in Teyvat as well as give us clues to help us predict the future.
Then there's snezhnaya, probably the most anticipated nation because of the harbingers, the gnoses, the Tsaritsa and her plan to rebel against celestia.. It'll all probably unwind in Snezhnaya's Archon quest, if not def in Khanri'ah or the prologue (which is probably gonna be Celestia) Added bonus: Meeting Childe's family
I can't explain how excited I am for Fontaine, as someone who loves France and history I think the archon quest will deal with the rich vs poor and how wealth/status can corrupt the ideal of justice. If you can afford a lawyer you're more likely to win your case but if you can't it's easy to be deemed guilty. I feel like the fatui will be involved here particularly pantalone or colombina and I really hope there is a detective/ judge character introduced

I've read theories on Reddit where people predict that the Hydro Archon will be loosely based on Maximilien Robespierre, the ruler of France after they abolished the monarchy, during the Reign of Terror. And honestly, there are many connections between them. Robespierre was nicknamed "The Incorruptable" that he can never be corrupted or injust- even though that was exactly what he was. And the Hydro Archon seems to see herself as always pure and right
The French Revolution. A seemingly good idea on Paper that resulted massive lost of life. Which is juat making small of it Everytime someone tries to make the French revolution look good, I cringe and feel the urge to vomit knowing how that "revolution" wasn't about justice an Orgy of hatred and vengeance. So horrific was it that Napoleon taking control was a blessing in comparision. Worst still was when I learned that the King of France had abducated their power to a council or parliament much like the King of Britain. Effectively a ceremonial ruler. And that his death was by the hands of the extremist who wanted no king no matter what. Just that alone made me realize it was an example when cooler heads don't prevail. When the extremist of an opposition are not put down but allowed to do as they pleased. Lot of blood and Violence. An Orgy of Vengeance that ended with the reign of Terror and those pawns who stormed the Bastille likely finding themselves at the end of a guilottine.
I see the hydro archon less as the “god of justice” and more as the “god of purity,” she is was more concerned with how pure her and her nation is. Even if it isn’t, she acts like it’s the truth, being ‘honest’ and doing everything she can to be least of Celestia’s worries
If I’m right about who the Hydro Archon’s Honkai equivalent is I think the Hydro Archon may be “incomplete” in some way. There’s a character in Honkai named Seele who has two different personalities, a judgmental and vindictive ‘Red Seele’ and a gentle and empathetic ‘Blue Seele’. Maybe the Hydro Archon has somehow lost her ‘Blue Seele’ part that tempered her judgment.
in the travail trailer, we see the characters from different regions and for fontaine we can see not one but TWO CHARACTERS, one with a blue colour scheme and another with red..
I don't think it would be seele, since seele's motif are butterfly and death besides if you're looking for counterparts you shouldn't look at HI3 only you should also look at GGZ lore
@@rajamrifqi5764 I agree not all of her motifs line up, but the closest for something like death would probably be Dendro, and according to a very reliable leaker that's not gonna be Seele. I think Seele does line up for a Justice-themed character better than many realize though, considering justice as a virtue does have dualistic aspects that would fit a dual-natured character. Justice is just as much about fairness as it is about punishing the wicked, after all. She also does have a sea motif that not many other Honkai characters have, and is also referred to as a "Nymph" which are usually associated with water. In fact, the mythological Oceanids are a type of Nymph. I will admit I'm not too familiar with Seele in GGZ but from my understanding she isn't that different of a character and still has a motif of dualism.
I feel like Sumeru will act as the finale of the first half of our story, it feels like a story climax is approaching. Fontaine will act as a Book 2 Chapter 1 kinda deal. A courtroom of injustice sounds like a the perfect setting for a reset in tone, as it seems isolated from the rest of the story.
*I feel like fontaine will have this victorian era vibes with a little bit of pop culture aesthetics of france with the whole arts, beauty, luxury and music/opera of some sort. And given how Mihoyo tends to drop some subtle jojo references, and even recently gave something similar to pokemon (like the ubiquity net that works like pokeballs to catch genshin animals) and also how most of the names of achievements/namecards are like memes.....I get this funny feeling that we might see some ace attorney reference get dropped in fontaine when we are being judged lmao 🤣* *And I kinda can't help but picture the courtroom be a mix of ace-attorney and Alice in wonderland, and the judge is going to be the hydro archon herself, who we kinda prove her guilty in the process while trying to prove our innocence (like in ace attorney) but then she gets furious because we are spilling the truth and then she herself gets down to defeat us (similar to how the queen of hearts tried to get rid of alice out of sheer anger) and BOOM boss battle time 😂* *Edit: P.S. okay....I'll be honest but fontaine courtroom being a mix of alice in wonderland and ace attorney sounds REALLY creative and cool and I would like to see that, hopefully Mihoyo does make it like so.*

I have a little theory about Fontaine :> As we saw, Fontaine's description for this trailer is named "Masquerade of the Guilty" and what is a masquerade? It's like a party/ball of people wearing masks and at the same time, Fontaine is also known as the nation of Justice, so this could be the point... what if Fontaine is just basically a whole nation with people in the darkness trying their best to be the greatest of pretenders in the name of being known as "sinless", "clean", and "innocent"? They seem to have skeletons in the closet that they are trying to cover up despite being so guilty of the crimes they have already done. That's why this preview featured a somewhat circus show wherein they are acting and trying to look good in the mortal eye while behind the scenes is where all the actions of injustice happens. And the Hydro Archon ruling over Fontaine is in favor of this because she too have a dark past and as she is the one who started all this as well, trying her best to stage "justice" upon her nation and her belongings, and that is what the Traveler is yet to unveil. "Masquerade of the Guilty" -> people wearing masks to cover up the guilt and the dirty secrets they have on the other side of the mask. And I don't know if it's the same in English, but since Fontaine is based on France, I will add this: In French, the word "mascarade" (masquerade in English), is a synonym of the English word "deception" or "smokescreen" So yeah, when I saw the chapter's title, I was like "there's something wrong here" I was sure that Fontaine would be a nation where people are fake, or trying to fake something, in order to hide something terrible. Also, the picture we have in the trailer really makes me think about French theatres, or magic shows. All things that need some acting, some "fake" behaviour.
She's likely to be based off of Seele Vollerei (Veliona is her alter-ego's unofficial nickname, though Mihoyo has actually used it in the weekly quiz), she's the potential Herrscher of Death. Seele's associated with water, the Sea of Quanta, her Star Rail equivalent uses the Quantum element (Hydro/Sea of Quanta) she is also often represented by the scale, a symbol used for both balance and justice, her alter-ego can be quite arrogant at times. While Seele herself has not yet been confirmed as the Herrscher of Death (or Quanta), she does have the Stigmata of the Herrscher of Death, and it's highly implied that Veliona may in fact be the Herrscher of Daeth, considering that original host was killed a long time ago and looked a lot like Seele, while Veliona lacks any memories of who she is or was. Another thing to note is that having control over death also means she has control over life. On a related note, Honkai Star Rail has seven elements, like with Genshin, here is a quick comparison: Geo - Physical Anemo - Wind Electro - Thunder Pyro - Fire Cryo - Ice Hydro - Quantum (Sea of Quanta) Dendro - Imaginary (Imaginary Tree) Knowing how these elements relate to one another can explain a lot about them, the Sea of Quanta is where universe go to die, it is associated with the abyss, and likewise death in itself. The Imaginary Tree is where universes come into existence, each leaf and petal is it's own alternate reality called Bubble Universes, when a Bubble Universe dies it falls into the Sea of Quanta, which tries to drown the Imaginary Tree's roots, all while the Tree feeds off of the Sea, this continuous cycle gives birth to the Houkai (Honkai) or Erosion as it's called in Genshin's lore. We see a reenactment on a smaller scale of this interaction between the conflicting forces when collecting our rewards from the trees in domains, where the petals fall into the circle of water, that lights up with an image of a Triskele, representing the three phases of Life, Death and Rebirth, or Spiritual, Physical and Celestial. The Oceanid also shares several facial characteristics with Honkai beasts, particularly the single eye in the center of the face and the spiked horns on the back off the head. On a final note, I also believe that the current Cryo Archon is based on Bronya, and the previous one is based on Cocolia (her Matushka). I think Venti might have killed the former Cryo Archon, then Tsaritsa (Bronya) gave Rosalyne an artificial body of Signora, which is extremely similar in appearance to Cocolia, and would also explain why Venti says: "That smirk you wear looks out of place. Did you steal it from your master's face?", because Venti hasn't met the Tsaritsa, but he would have known her predecessor. Great video by the way, I always enjoy theses. ^_^
A few other possibilities on who might know what happened to the previous Hydro archon : 1. The Abyss order - they trying to get rid of the Archons so it's not that improbable they know what horrid stuff the Archons might've done 2. Dainsleif - he knew what happened with Venti and Zhongli so he's probably been keeping tabs on the Archons 3. The Tsarista/Fatui - I can see it being a plot point of them blackmailing the Hydro Archon with this information
I tend to picture the Hydro Archon as this mentally unstable god. Throwing tantrums and gets angry on her alone times because of frustration but shows up as this perfect goody two shoes lady. Well, what if in the archon quest of Fontaine, we'll know about this matter? I'm super duper excited!
Considering that Inazuma's story was inspired by true events in the Tokugawa Shogunate in feudal Japan, it could very well be true that Fontaine's story could potentially also be inspired by the great depression or other historical events. Ah, in case you're wondering how Inazuma might have been inspired by the tokugawa shogunate: when Tokugawa became Japan's shogun, he closed off Japan's borders to the outside to preserve and enhance the culture and traditions (eg. tea ceremonies, kabuki theatres). In a way it is similar to how Ei wanted to preserve her nation in her "eternal" state. However this information may not be entirely accurate because i am writing this from my own knowledge in my history classes 😅.
The vision hunt was from the sword hunt by toyotoma hideyoshi, they seized weapons, if you wanted to use them you had to be under the governing body, just like kujou having a vision while others are not allowed.
If Fontaine is partly based on Italy, then the God of Justice is sus and might have connections with the Fatui, and if the Tsaritsa is Bronya and the God of Justice is Seele, knowing Mihoyo there will be a connection between the two, plus Fontaine might have a Venice vibe to it, and guess what? do you think Fontaine might have a connection with Tears of Themis? ToT is already a courtroom drama kind of game plus Themis is the actual Greek goddess of justice; it feels like too good of an opportunity for Mihoyo to not consider (like maybe characters inspired by the ToT characters?)
It could go that way, however, since an Archon must rule over a nation (and therefore mortals), I don't think Themis will be the chosen goddess to embody, since she portraits divine justice. Maybe her daughters Dike, goddess of moral order or Eunonimia, goddess of law and legislation, could be a better inspiration if they follow the Greek path. However, there's also the option that, as the creator alluded when talking about flaws, that Nemesis was the chosen one. Goddess of retribution and sometimes even fortune, could be seen as different parts of a trial. Sorry for this long text such a long time after the og message tho 😅

i have a theory since there are speculations that Celestia is moored over Fontaine. the god of Justice seeks to judge the other gods. my theory is that the gods she wants to judge are not the Seven, rather, she seeks to judge the gods of Celestia. my theory is that Fontaine is infested with gods from Celestia and that the Tribunals she refers to belong to Celestia
If I may, from what I understood from the Wishful Drops event was that the previous Hydro Archon, although believed in the unification through the waters, she was also the one doing the spying on other nations. If this is true, then perhaps the reason for the current Archon's obsession over being "pure" is to compensate for such a stain on an Archon's duties, specially an Archon of Justice. Then again it's what I had understood so I may need to take a look at the event here on youtube again >.

I have the same feeling that history will repeat itself and the current Hydro Archon will be dead just like the previous one. But I think maybe the Abyss Order will do something to kill her since their goal is to overthrow the rule of the Archons.
One thought that came to mind when you mentioned the possibility of the hydro archon already having been punished is that the hydro archon was made blind. This would tie into the saying that “justice is blind,” and it would prevent her from seeing all the art that the people of her nation create. It would be devastating, and she might be extremely scared of losing her life to Celestia, because she values her people and the art they create, and losing that would be one of the worst things that could happen to her
I love it, it is kinda clearer now that Archon is actually.... Doesn't have much of power themselves over higher being, thematically each nation we see the perks and the flaws of each archons, this, I bet extend to even the tsaritsa, something just not gonna go her way. For the og hydro archon she seems like a dear figure for loch folks, and we know loch folks are sensitive but powerful creature, that alone give me feels on what god she was, an headcanon precisely: she was a loch folks herself, well an upgrade version, the og spring fairy, their queen bee, as she seems have full command on loch folks & why loch folks flee from recent hydro archon, they know, they are connected to their beloved dead archon, water holds memories after all, and loch folks only live in the purest body of water, that alone imply, water in fontaine was poluted, stained, be it from industrial revolution, or by the og's grief & remains (as you said death of a god can impact their surrounding like havria's, so maybe og's death contribute to the water's quality degradation)
Its actually possible that she is traumatized from what celestia did to khaenriah and their citizens. It was injustice and she is the only Archon whos principles are violated directly. It would be interesting to see what she have to say about that.

This traumatized her which led her to force her idea of purity to suffice her need to survive and protect Fontaine. The previous Hydro archon probably went against Celestia, and was killed in return.

Well I think this is all great at everything I also think considering the French revolution and Marie Antoinette to be an inspiration for the Hydro archon would be something to look into.. She’s notorious queen known for lavish nature and while the peoples anger was justified to some extent the reason she ended up being executed was due to a false accusation… I think seeing a revolution in Fontaine would be interesting… also the mention of the court and the beautiful ladies…it screams rococo to me
Perfect video! Really agree with every theory you said! I believe that the Hydro archon would be assassinated by her people/the gods of celestia because the exact heavenly principles she keeps so passionately will make her fall. It fits the Hydro element - bubbles hydro enemies make can catch allies and even themselves as well as foes, just like the heavenly principles are a double edged sword. Plus I really believe this will be the chapter in which we will meet a god from celestia (not the sustainer).

I think when we get to meet the hydro archon, she will be the midst of going on trail for the crime of killing the previous archon (probably speared by the Fatui). It'll be up to the traveler and paimon to prove her innocence and stop the fatui from getting the gnosis as well as changing her people's view of their god
Watching the Assassination part again after playing the Sumeru update and I have some speculations: So they only found the new Dendro archon after the previous had died, since the previous died in the calamity which was 500 years ago, and The new archon is only 500 years old this would mean that the archon is reborn as a baby as soon as the other passes, kind of like in ATLA. So that would make Assassination of a previous hydro archon impossible unless the current hydro archon was an imposter. Next, Zhonglis death as an archon wouldn’t trigger a new one to be born since he didn’t die. BUT, will there be ppl who don’t know the secret and still be looking out for the new geo archon? But then There’s the case on Inazuma where Ei was a twin, so did the girls fight it out to figure out who was stronger? Or did Makotos (idk if I spelled that right!) death trigger a new electro archon birth but no one knows because they assume Ei would just become the new archon? My head is spinning lol
since the greek goddess of justice is themis and hoyoverse has another game “tears of themis” where the land it takes place has lots of new technology just as described in fontaine themis is the goddess of DIVINE justice and orderly conduct which includes the concept of purity dike her daughter is the goddess of JUSTICE and LAW themis does not support killing in her law so could’ve she trapped the other hydro archon where of instead of killing them which she is against evidence to support my theory; slimes are often linked with the archon of which element they are (example geo slimes can make shields like geo daddy i mean zhongli 😳) and hydro slimes can trap people in bubbles, and there was a feature in an event where you could trap enemies with bubbles idk but maybe the greek goddess of justice could be related with fontaine’s archon just my theory 💁♀️
I believe that Celestia is just a villain who just fxxx around because their bored or for the sake of it. If they do know off the assassination of the god, they would clearly do something about it, who knows, maybe the traveller will go to war with Celestia?

What if the God of justice is actually possessed by the God of injustice (demon) or rather punishment ? This could be linked to the slime theory. If we view justice as a scale that must be kept balanced. Leaning one we or the other van represent extremes. Which would also explain a bit of the information we've gathered on Fontaine in Genshin thus far. If the scale is off this can symbolise injustice, punishment, sentence , etc? I'm rambling at this point but I don't know. I'm sticking to the possessed theory for now.

Fontaine, seems so interesting, I hope it has a steampunk aesthetic. Also, I wonder, what was that "injustice" she(the current Hydro archon) first committed that led her to becoming so judgemental(maybe something to do with the previous archon? There are no exact answers and I hope Mhy provides), what is she hiding behind her own mask, and what could she possibly know about Celestia that she might be willing to share.

Wait, I just noticed something. Every hydro user has a strong sense of commitment to their ideal justice, but also an inferiority complex of some kind. Childe wants to be stronger/the strongest, Barbara wants to live up to Jean's potential, Xingqiu wants to be up to par by Guhua standards, Mona is striving to outdo/escape the shadow of the "old hag", and Kokomi feels like she took on the responsibility of Shrine Priestess before she was adequately prepared.
Maybe that ties into the spectacle and flaws of the Hydro archon?

Fontaine for me is probably one of the most important nation, most likely because of how interesting it is:
1. Except for Dendro, Hydro characters take up the least percentage of only 5 (some speculate that Ayato is also a Hydro character) until now.
2. The God of *Justice* , this means that the Hydro Archon's archon quest will give us a lot of information on the Heavenly Principles considering it is basically the universal law in Teyvat
Not only Fontaine will be exceptionally interesting because of their archon's ideal of "justice", it will give us a deep insight of Celestia and the Heavenly Principles.
I think Natlan would be of somewhat as interesting as Fontaine, their Archon's ideal is *War*, so unlike the Hydro Archon who will give us a general insight to the world of Teyvat through its laws, the Pyro Archon will possibly give us a lot of information on the Archon War and Khaenri'ah considering both events are considered as "wars".
Sumeru will possibly give us information not in the past but more of a present Teyvat, giving us an insight of the current situations in Teyvat as well as give us clues to help us predict the future.
Then there's snezhnaya, probably the most anticipated nation because of the harbingers, the gnoses, the Tsaritsa and her plan to rebel against celestia.. It'll all probably unwind in Snezhnaya's Archon quest, if not def in Khanri'ah or the prologue (which is probably gonna be Celestia)

I can't explain how excited I am for Fontaine, as someone who loves France and history I think the archon quest will deal with the rich vs poor and how wealth/status can corrupt the ideal of justice. If you can afford a lawyer you're more likely to win your case but if you can't it's easy to be deemed guilty. I feel like the fatui will be involved here particularly pantalone or colombina and I really hope there is a detective/ judge character introduced

I've read theories on Reddit where people predict that the Hydro Archon will be loosely based on Maximilien Robespierre, the ruler of France after they abolished the monarchy, during the Reign of Terror. And honestly, there are many connections between them. Robespierre was nicknamed "The Incorruptable" that he can never be corrupted or injust- even though that was exactly what he was. And the Hydro Archon seems to see herself as always pure and right

Everytime someone tries to make the French revolution look good, I cringe and feel the urge to vomit knowing how that "revolution" wasn't about justice an Orgy of hatred and vengeance. So horrific was it that Napoleon taking control was a blessing in comparision.
Worst still was when I learned that the King of France had abducated their power to a council or parliament much like the King of Britain. Effectively a ceremonial ruler.
And that his death was by the hands of the extremist who wanted no king no matter what. Just that alone made me realize it was an example when cooler heads don't prevail. When the extremist of an opposition are not put down but allowed to do as they pleased.

If I’m right about who the Hydro Archon’s Honkai equivalent is I think the Hydro Archon may be “incomplete” in some way. There’s a character in Honkai named Seele who has two different personalities, a judgmental and vindictive ‘Red Seele’ and a gentle and empathetic ‘Blue Seele’. Maybe the Hydro Archon has somehow lost her ‘Blue Seele’ part that tempered her judgment.

@@rajamrifqi5764 I agree not all of her motifs line up, but the closest for something like death would probably be Dendro, and according to a very reliable leaker that's not gonna be Seele. I think Seele does line up for a Justice-themed character better than many realize though, considering justice as a virtue does have dualistic aspects that would fit a dual-natured character. Justice is just as much about fairness as it is about punishing the wicked, after all. She also does have a sea motif that not many other Honkai characters have, and is also referred to as a "Nymph" which are usually associated with water. In fact, the mythological Oceanids are a type of Nymph. I will admit I'm not too familiar with Seele in GGZ but from my understanding she isn't that different of a character and still has a motif of dualism.
I feel like Sumeru will act as the finale of the first half of our story, it feels like a story climax is approaching. Fontaine will act as a Book 2 Chapter 1 kinda deal.
A courtroom of injustice sounds like a the perfect setting for a reset in tone, as it seems isolated from the rest of the story.
Those intros with the text playing out as you narrate them are kinda artistic actually, love it

And given how Mihoyo tends to drop some subtle jojo references, and even recently gave something similar to pokemon (like the ubiquity net that works like pokeballs to catch genshin animals) and also how most of the names of achievements/namecards are like memes.....I get this funny feeling that we might see some ace attorney reference get dropped in fontaine when we are being judged lmao 🤣*

I have a little theory about Fontaine :>
As we saw, Fontaine's description for this trailer is named "Masquerade of the Guilty" and what is a masquerade? It's like a party/ball of people wearing masks and at the same time, Fontaine is also known as the nation of Justice, so this could be the point... what if Fontaine is just basically a whole nation with people in the darkness trying their best to be the greatest of pretenders in the name of being known as "sinless", "clean", and "innocent"? They seem to have skeletons in the closet that they are trying to cover up despite being so guilty of the crimes they have already done. That's why this preview featured a somewhat circus show wherein they are acting and trying to look good in the mortal eye while behind the scenes is where all the actions of injustice happens. And the Hydro Archon ruling over Fontaine is in favor of this because she too have a dark past and as she is the one who started all this as well, trying her best to stage "justice" upon her nation and her belongings, and that is what the Traveler is yet to unveil.
"Masquerade of the Guilty" -> people wearing masks to cover up the guilt and the dirty secrets they have on the other side of the mask.
And I don't know if it's the same in English, but since Fontaine is based on France, I will add this:
In French, the word "mascarade" (masquerade in English), is a synonym of the English word "deception" or "smokescreen"
So yeah, when I saw the chapter's title, I was like "there's something wrong here"
I was sure that Fontaine would be a nation where people are fake, or trying to fake something, in order to hide something terrible.
Also, the picture we have in the trailer really makes me think about French theatres, or magic shows.

She's likely to be based off of Seele Vollerei (Veliona is her alter-ego's unofficial nickname, though Mihoyo has actually used it in the weekly quiz), she's the potential Herrscher of Death. Seele's associated with water, the Sea of Quanta, her Star Rail equivalent uses the Quantum element (Hydro/Sea of Quanta) she is also often represented by the scale, a symbol used for both balance and justice, her alter-ego can be quite arrogant at times. While Seele herself has not yet been confirmed as the Herrscher of Death (or Quanta), she does have the Stigmata of the Herrscher of Death, and it's highly implied that Veliona may in fact be the Herrscher of Daeth, considering that original host was killed a long time ago and looked a lot like Seele, while Veliona lacks any memories of who she is or was. Another thing to note is that having control over death also means she has control over life.
On a related note, Honkai Star Rail has seven elements, like with Genshin, here is a quick comparison:
Geo - Physical
Anemo - Wind
Electro - Thunder
Pyro - Fire
Cryo - Ice
Hydro - Quantum (Sea of Quanta)
Dendro - Imaginary (Imaginary Tree)
Knowing how these elements relate to one another can explain a lot about them, the Sea of Quanta is where universe go to die, it is associated with the abyss, and likewise death in itself.
The Imaginary Tree is where universes come into existence, each leaf and petal is it's own alternate reality called Bubble Universes, when a Bubble Universe dies it falls into the Sea of Quanta, which tries to drown the Imaginary Tree's roots, all while the Tree feeds off of the Sea, this continuous cycle gives birth to the Houkai (Honkai) or Erosion as it's called in Genshin's lore. We see a reenactment on a smaller scale of this interaction between the conflicting forces when collecting our rewards from the trees in domains, where the petals fall into the circle of water, that lights up with an image of a Triskele, representing the three phases of Life, Death and Rebirth, or Spiritual, Physical and Celestial.
The Oceanid also shares several facial characteristics with Honkai beasts, particularly the single eye in the center of the face and the spiked horns on the back off the head.
On a final note, I also believe that the current Cryo Archon is based on Bronya, and the previous one is based on Cocolia (her Matushka). I think Venti might have killed the former Cryo Archon, then Tsaritsa (Bronya) gave Rosalyne an artificial body of Signora, which is extremely similar in appearance to Cocolia, and would also explain why Venti says: "That smirk you wear looks out of place. Did you steal it from your master's face?", because Venti hasn't met the Tsaritsa, but he would have known her predecessor.

A few other possibilities on who might know what happened to the previous Hydro archon :
1. The Abyss order - they trying to get rid of the Archons so it's not that improbable they know what horrid stuff the Archons might've done
2. Dainsleif - he knew what happened with Venti and Zhongli so he's probably been keeping tabs on the Archons
3. The Tsarista/Fatui - I can see it being a plot point of them blackmailing the Hydro Archon with this information
I tend to picture the Hydro Archon as this mentally unstable god. Throwing tantrums and gets angry on her alone times because of frustration but shows up as this perfect goody two shoes lady. Well, what if in the archon quest of Fontaine, we'll know about this matter? I'm super duper excited!

Considering that Inazuma's story was inspired by true events in the Tokugawa Shogunate in feudal Japan, it could very well be true that Fontaine's story could potentially also be inspired by the great depression or other historical events.
Ah, in case you're wondering how Inazuma might have been inspired by the tokugawa shogunate: when Tokugawa became Japan's shogun, he closed off Japan's borders to the outside to preserve and enhance the culture and traditions (eg. tea ceremonies, kabuki theatres). In a way it is similar to how Ei wanted to preserve her nation in her "eternal" state.
However this information may not be entirely accurate because i am writing this from my own knowledge in my history classes 😅.
The vision hunt was from the sword hunt by toyotoma hideyoshi, they seized weapons, if you wanted to use them you had to be under the governing body, just like kujou having a vision while others are not allowed.
If Fontaine is partly based on Italy, then the God of Justice is sus and might have connections with the Fatui, and if the Tsaritsa is Bronya and the God of Justice is Seele, knowing Mihoyo there will be a connection between the two, plus Fontaine might have a Venice vibe to it, and guess what? Venice is known as "the floating city" Fontaine has a "High city", and Venice is also known as "City of Masks", pretty sus no? I smell a revolution approaching

Also Tears are a form of water, so in other words, "Water of Justice" is the title of the game.
It could go that way, however, since an Archon must rule over a nation (and therefore mortals), I don't think Themis will be the chosen goddess to embody, since she portraits divine justice. Maybe her daughters Dike, goddess of moral order or Eunonimia, goddess of law and legislation, could be a better inspiration if they follow the Greek path. However, there's also the option that, as the creator alluded when talking about flaws, that Nemesis was the chosen one. Goddess of retribution and sometimes even fortune, could be seen as different parts of a trial.

I have the same feeling that history will repeat itself and the current Hydro Archon will be dead just like the previous one. But I think maybe the Abyss Order will do something to kill her since their goal is to overthrow the rule of the Archons.

This would tie into the saying that “justice is blind,” and it would prevent her from seeing all the art that the people of her nation create. It would be devastating, and she might be extremely scared of losing her life to Celestia, because she values her people and the art they create, and losing that would be one of the worst things that could happen to her
I love it, it is kinda clearer now that Archon is actually.... Doesn't have much of power themselves over higher being, thematically each nation we see the perks and the flaws of each archons, this, I bet extend to even the tsaritsa, something just not gonna go her way.
For the og hydro archon she seems like a dear figure for loch folks, and we know loch folks are sensitive but powerful creature, that alone give me feels on what god she was, an headcanon precisely: she was a loch folks herself, well an upgrade version, the og spring fairy, their queen bee, as she seems have full command on loch folks & why loch folks flee from recent hydro archon, they know, they are connected to their beloved dead archon, water holds memories after all, and loch folks only live in the purest body of water, that alone imply, water in fontaine was poluted, stained, be it from industrial revolution, or by the og's grief & remains (as you said death of a god can impact their surrounding like havria's, so maybe og's death contribute to the water's quality degradation)

Its actually possible that she is traumatized from what celestia did to khaenriah and their citizens. It was injustice and she is the only Archon whos principles are violated directly. It would be interesting to see what she have to say about that.

She’s notorious queen known for lavish nature and while the peoples anger was justified to some extent the reason she ended up being executed was due to a false accusation… I think seeing a revolution in Fontaine would be interesting… also the mention of the court and the beautiful ladies…it screams rococo to me

I believe that the Hydro archon would be assassinated by her people/the gods of celestia because the exact heavenly principles she keeps so passionately will make her fall. It fits the Hydro element - bubbles hydro enemies make can catch allies and even themselves as well as foes, just like the heavenly principles are a double edged sword.
Plus I really believe this will be the chapter in which we will meet a god from celestia (not the sustainer).

Ok so, Orabashi cursed Tataragami got infused with Crystal Marrow. And there is a Fontaine merchant in Springvale* selling “Holy Water”, so is it possible that we have been receiving hints about the Previous Hydro Archon’s death … blessing the waters of Fontaine?
I think when we get to meet the hydro archon, she will be the midst of going on trail for the crime of killing the previous archon (probably speared by the Fatui). It'll be up to the traveler and paimon to prove her innocence and stop the fatui from getting the gnosis as well as changing her people's view of their god

Watching the Assassination part again after playing the Sumeru update and I have some speculations:
So they only found the new Dendro archon after the previous had died, since the previous died in the calamity which was 500 years ago, and The new archon is only 500 years old this would mean that the archon is reborn as a baby as soon as the other passes, kind of like in ATLA. So that would make Assassination of a previous hydro archon impossible unless the current hydro archon was an imposter.
Next, Zhonglis death as an archon wouldn’t trigger a new one to be born since he didn’t die. BUT, will there be ppl who don’t know the secret and still be looking out for the new geo archon?
But then There’s the case on Inazuma where Ei was a twin, so did the girls fight it out to figure out who was stronger? Or did Makotos (idk if I spelled that right!) death trigger a new electro archon birth but no one knows because they assume Ei would just become the new archon?

themis does not support killing in her law so could’ve she trapped the other hydro archon where of instead of killing them which she is against

What if the God of justice is actually possessed by the God of injustice (demon) or rather punishment ? This could be linked to the slime theory.
If we view justice as a scale that must be kept balanced. Leaning one we or the other van represent extremes. Which would also explain a bit of the information we've gathered on Fontaine in Genshin thus far.
