    I also sold my T7 and brought a new 690 and being only 5,8 got it professionally lowered by Choice suspensions I am 60 years old and don't ride that hard so I probably only use 20% of what the bike can do, but I do love the power and it being so nimble and light.

      Mine was the old 660 Tenere. The 690 is so much better. Choice are the only ones that do my suspension. Glad you like the 690.

    Sweet video and nice mods. Really interested in the Rade auxiliary tank. I'm in Colorado and have a '23 Husky 701 that I rode the snot out of in the Rocky Mountains this past season.
    Added a Yosh can with Rottweiler's dongle and PC6 with their map. These run super lean down low and at part throttle where the rider spends most of their time. Post fueling and exhaust mods it pulls much stronger off idle and it is much more responsive to throttle inputs and just flat out makes a lot more power, which is great when trail riding at low speeds or slowing down in a tall gear on the road. It used to lug at lower RPM in 6th, now it can smoothly jet off with grunty XR650 like low end pull. Get the revs up and twist it's tail and ya better be hanging on, the power is stout, the quick shifter is awesome, and the exhaust note from the Yosh can is braapalicious 😆
    I do have to ride fast roads to get to my trails, the bike is making so much more low and mid power I elected to gear it up to 16/45 (stock is 15/46) which lets it cruise really nice at 70-75 MPH (110 to 120 KPH for the civilized world outside the US). To my surprise I like it better off road with the taller gearing as my trails had me revving in 1st and lugging in 2nd. Now 1st handles most everything unless really going fast on smoother 2 track, then 2nd and 3rd are more than plenty.
    More good mods include wider pegs and a lower temp 80/85C fan switch (stock is a crazy hot 105C I believe). The stock pegs are much too narrow, which is more of a problem when riding off road and standing a lot, and the fan switch really lets it heat up when riding slow. It is better to just let the fan run a lot when riding off road, the charging system has no issue keeping up.
    It surprised me how decent the XPLOR suspension is right off the showroom floor. After setting the sag and dialing the clickers I find the shock to be good. The .59 fork springs are soft and unbalanced compared to the .72 shock spring. I replaced the fork springs with .65 units, which made a big difference in helping the forks ride up in the stroke and not feel so "stink buggy". I am an experienced dirt rider and I ride it like a dirt bike in some pretty challenging Colorado terrain at times and get carried away, sometimes forgetting this bike weighs a lot.
    Running TuBliss front and rear, running a little lower pressure in the front tire especially helps. I don't worry about the rear too much, Mode 2, ABS and TC off, and let it spin to win. The stock rear got trashed pretty fast, running a Motoz Rallz rear tire and like it a lot.
    I also run the "off road" dongle on it to remember the preferred map 2 and TC off settings after shut down. It still defaults to off road front ABS on, rear off, so I still have to turn the front ABS off every time while off road, but it is better than having to reset everything.
    These bikes aren't great for anything in particular, but they are able to do pretty much everything reasonably well, and they are just plain fun to ride. This big, fast, smooth and revvy thumper in a capable dual sport wrapper has a uniquely cool feel all its own.

      When running off road how much does your refueling change the mpg?

    • @craighoffman6876
      @craighoffman6876 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Boowa4 No real change off road. With the taller gearing it actually does better on road, I used to get around 53 MPG, now it is more like 54-55. If riding two lane roads at 60 it can get into the 60 MPG range. I live in Colorado so this is 5,500 feet and up riding so that impacts it too.

    • @bradsanders6954
      @bradsanders6954 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Boowa4 Most others say 44 mpg is what a 690 averages in stock form, and about 40 with the usual mods.
      So it varies. Having enough gas can be a trick if your going a long ways.

    Great choice, I switched from a Honda XR650L to the KTM ENDURO 690R and what a awesome difference, not shooting down the Honda but the KTM is a dynamic experience, best of luck with your new motorcycle, go KTM 👍

    Nice! It is going to feel WAY lighter off road than the Tenere, and you can turn it into so many things, rally style, full enduro, supermoto, adventure.

      Great bike. To be honest your probably better off buying a 23. They have them on run out deals now, so they are like $1,500 off normal price. The 24’s there are no changes and have gone up about $2,000.

    How do you find it on the knarly hill climbs and highway?
    I love my 300 Rally as it's so easy to ride anywhere. But a bit more acceleration could be nice 😅

    • @muddyfilms2632
      @muddyfilms2632  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This bike only gets ridden off road. As for hill climbing, no problems. Plenty of power for every situation. The other 690 I ride has over 4k worth of suspension and it sits 25mm higher in the front. It rides so much better.

    Just curious how the mousses are going on this bike? Are you doing multi day rides with the mousses?

    • @muddyfilms2632
      @muddyfilms2632  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These mousses have done 5days in a row at the KTM adventure rally, then 2 days in the sand at a desert and now I’m at a 2 day Road-book rally. So far these are holding up no problems. In saying that this bike does not get ridden on the road, only off road.

    • @mirandacrossley2525
      @mirandacrossley2525 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sure they'd still be getting some heat into them doing full days. Great to hear they're holding up well. I've always thought it would be great for offroad adventure riding if they could handle it! What brand of mousses did you go for?
