Nice video which explains this machine well. I own a '23 701, it was a nice bike in stock form. Since I mod every bike I've ever owned, I added a Yosh R-77 can and Rottweiler mapped PC6 and OMG the bike is mental now with serous scenery blurring power. Better yet, it is much more crisp and responsive to part throttle compared to stock, and chugs off idle much better, which is helpful when off road. A good thing about the copious extra power is I was able to gear it up from the stock 15/46 to 16/45, which is the same as the SMC-R. The taller gears work way better on the street as it pulls gear to gear nicer, the quickshifter works better and it can easily cruise all day essentially vibration free at 70-75 if you need it to. If you are naughty it will rip right into the inadvisable triple digits like no single I've ever been on, XR 650 included. The solidified low end power makes the taller gearing no problem at all while off road. The 690 platform bikes are amazing machines in stock form, but they are also a blank canvas. If one is so inclined they can really build something special - a truly high performance no excuses 50/50 dual sport "unicorn". The thing is, one has to consider if they really want a 50/50 bike as most folks wants are biased toward dirt or street to some degree. Ya, these aren't as good as a 500 EXC-F for off road as they are much heavier, but they destroy the EXC on the street. Ya, these bikes aren't as good as a 890 or similar on the street, but they destroy the T7 or 890 light ADV bikes off road. The thing is, the 690 platform is simply "good enough" wherever it goes and they are hard to beat if you can live with that. I live in CO and my 701 is the perfect exploration bike, no bike I've ever owned can rip down a canyon road and yet still explore some fairly aggressive off road 4x4 routes and even single track like my 701. It sits between a 300 XC and a Super Tenere - I figure I have it covered! One final note, if you have a 701 and want to dress it up with a killer graphics kit, check out MotoProWorks. I got one of their kits for my bike and it is high quality and looks fantastic. The big white side panels look sweet with graphics on them. The do offer Enduro model specific kits.
I installed the under tank aux fuel tank from Rade Garage. Put hard luggage on and rode from Portland to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean. For the hard seat I just use an Air Hawk cushion for long rides. I bought it to use as a dual sport but now that I’m 75 it’s used mostly as a lightweight adventure bike.
I went to my dealer and tried the GAS GAS 700, Husqvarna 701 and the KTM 690 Enduro's. All great bikes. Not a lot in it, but Husqy was the lowest, KTM a little higher and the Gas Gas the highest. A lowering kit will lower the bike by around 50mm. I'll be ordering my 701 with the lowering kit in March. Spoke to the dealer to compare the 701 with the full on Enduro but road legal bikes. Big downside for the full on Enduro's is that they are competition standard and far to advanced my novice riding ability off road. Been riding for over 30 years but not off road. I also don't like the idea of regular servicing every so many hours, understandable given the bikes capabilities but not very user friendly. This seems an excellent compromise.
I am about to buy one. Coming off Z900RS as I want to do the farm road / gravel road type riding available in my area bit also want to do moderate highway miles . Also want the high service intervals .
I own a 2018 and the abs yellow sensor is a button. When you start the engine you can press ir for a couple of seconds and disables abs ! Love the video 🎉
I had this one , it is a pleasure bike with some downside. 1) most important this bike does want to accelerate constantly so keeping riding cool is difficult and on long trip it is a problem. 2) confort is terrible ( seat is wood, wich on long trip is impossible) 3) super hot pipe and exhaust and you need to change the standard protection for a carbon fiber one and even cover the other part of the pipe. 4) fuel range is very short for all the rest it is a very good and pleasure bike. Easy to ride for everybody. I do now my road trip with a honda CRF300rally wich is far enough but it is an other story .
I'm 6'3" and I have a 2021 XR650L 5.8L Acerbis tank, Lexx MXe Exhaust quick tip, quiet to Thump core. lectron carburetor SKU 1480-PRO-HON-650. Major Diet of 17Lbs off it and the motor and power is not stock, and full MX suspension. I drive out of town to get to this crazy old track in the mountains and huge Hill climb and miles of old long logging roads out in the middle of nowhere for 2 years now and 14,560 miles on her. She still runs like new. I started looking up Parts for the Husky 701 Enduro and talking to my Suspension guy, I don't think I will be able to take that to Albany Supercross and Jump everything there with the 701.
Do they have an extended length swingarm? Is there a regular throttle, or is throttle by wire the only option? What are the differences between '23 and '24?
I have a 7 month old 701. It’s an excellent mix of old school dual sport with huge tech to keep it all in control (or not if you decide). It’s likely to replace my 890 Adventure. The Ergo seat is much better. Husqvarna do supply a screen. The muffler gets very hot which isn’t great.
I have a Norden 901 and am hoping to get a 701 Enduro next year. I think they both offer enough advantages to excuse owning both. As someone who actually did owns both, what are the biggest differences you've noticed?
Does it have a fuel gauge or is this another brilliant design from KTM mirroring the 690 Enduro which for some strange reason has NO freaking fuel gauge. One of the biggest complaints is people running out of gas because there is no freaking fuel gauge. It is 2024, why does KTM not put fuel gauges on all of their bikes? I like the KTM Enduro 690 or this one, but the no fuel gauge will make me go with something else, maybe the Ducati. I think they include the fuel gauge with their 700.
The 2024 Suzuki's are beginning to arrive. As soon as it arrives, I'll get a video up. I should be able to ride a number of Suzuki's on video this year too. So plenty of reason to subscribe!
This and the Husqy 690 are probably the ultimate end game upgrade to the KLR that the KLR will probably never quite reach. It comes at a price though. Upfront costs and then also, when you slide scale THIS far towards performance, you slide a bit away from reliability and long-term dependability. That is not said as an insult.
It's not in Canada (where I film) but to be a road legal bike in other parts of the world (much of Europe) you need the traditional lights and horn etc, but you also need ABS. Most off road bikes have gotten around the legislation by offering some version of a switchable ABS that allows the rider to have it on by default but switch it off when they don't want the intervention (off-road riding) but that's the story.
Nice video which explains this machine well.

Service intervals 8-10000km. Most adv/ road bikes are the same🤷♂️
I am about to buy one.

So which did you buy?

I’ve got the 2023 model and it’s absolutely fantastic! Easily the best bike I’ve ever had.
Nice review of the Enduro, thanks!

There is a screen available from Husquarna. I have one and it’s brilliant

Hard to beat an XR650l. th-cam.com/video/eemzWkRf4wM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=T9NJqnv00E4yviPN
Great review,
This bike didn't change from 2018 tbh
Whats the changes in 2024 model compared to older ones?
that’s a great question
Great bike! Husqvarna does have a wind screen for the 701.
Yeah, I've just learned that. Thanks for pointing it out, and thanks for watching!
This Husky and the Suzuki DR-Z400SM are the bikes I’m looking at. It depends on price and modern vs older style and what I really need.
Both good bikes! Thanks for watching!
In Québec, 2024 701 got no passenger footpegs/handles, no usb, no led blinkers (the stock equipment seams to vary )
That's interesting. Usually the Canadian market gets all the same bikes... Hmmm.. I'll have to look into that.
American version is EU4 for some reasons
Hi Peter. Another nice one.
How do I choose between this and the KTM 690?
Flip a coin. They're VERY similar. Do you like orange or this colour scheme?
Anyone know if the 2024 models differ from the 2023 models? Any changes for this year?
No changes at all. Not even the graphics. The '23 and '24 are exactly the same. And I love my '23!
Do they have an extended length swingarm? Is there a regular throttle, or is throttle by wire the only option? What are the differences between '23 and '24?
LR tank available?

The answer you're looking for is in the video. 😉
Peter, waiting for the new gsx 8R review. When can we expect that? Thank you.
The 2024 Suzuki's are beginning to arrive. As soon as it arrives, I'll get a video up. I should be able to ride a number of Suzuki's on video this year too. So plenty of reason to subscribe!
Good review, love the Bike!
Thanks for watching!
How do I know when I run out of fuel?
Your bike will shut off
is the seat lower than the KTM?
It’s a little higher, since the Husky seat is thicker

What are the differences from 2023
So why is it required to have abs on a basicly street legal dirt bike??

this is more of an overview not a review. Nonetheless, its a good overview
When you sat on the bike it would have been nice if you told us your height so we can get a better idea of what we’re dealing with.
Sorry about that. I'm about 6 feet tall. I'll have to measure my inseam to be exact.
@@PeterLoweOnethank!
Husky 💛🤍💙
Seat is terrible. Tank is too small. Footpegs are too small.
