Hi Kerry, when I make my white sauce for fish pie,I also whisk in the zest and juice of half a lemon which gives a lovely subtle flavour to complement the fish😀x
Ive started using cornflour. Just add a spoon to the pan, make paste with milk so mo lumps, and then i add rest of milk and all the seasonings etc. Found it much easier and tastes the same to me.
I found a recipe for salmon patties and the recipe calls for heavy cream. but I always wanted how to make a simple white sauce. my mom always made it this way. but she added a little bit of salt and pepper and Accent flavor to to her sauce. and when I make this with Mccormick brown gravey mix. Thanks for a easy recipe 😊.some of these videos go on and on, like Dragnet, just give me the facts 😊. Simple as that!
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Yummy, yum! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions! 🥘🍲🦞🥧🌭🌮🍕🍟🫔🍿🥗🦐🍝🍠☕🫖🗽🚑🚒🚓
That is why it’s called one of the five mother sauces. You add Parmesan and Gruyère cheese and you get what’s called a Mornay sauce. All starts with the white sauce. You can add a touch of parsley
Is it 50 gms or 5 gms of flour cause when I convert 50 gms flour to tsp it comes around 19 tsp. But u added around 1 tbsp in the video. Please clarify. Thanks
It says 50 grams of flour, butter in the video description. I tried the recipe but had to add extra butter at some point because it was too dry and floury.
I’m not too sure about that as I’ve never tried it.. but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work? U less it split? If you try it then let me know how it turns out :) xxx
You really should measure your flour and butter with a scale set to grams. It’s much more accurate 3.54tbsp butter (50 grams) 6.67tbsp flour (50 grams) 2.11 cups heavy cream (500mll) the measuring cup should have mils on the opposite side.
@@P3rmissionD3ni3d Most sets of scales, both electronic and non-electronic, can measure in both the metric system and the old imperial system - even those sold in the US.
Why do people use grams? We are in USA and we use tsp/TB/ cups etc. I have to find a diff recipe. You might try saying 50 grams or ? Tsp so ppl don’t have to Google every ingredient. Thx

Oohh that sounds amazing.. I bet that adds such a delicious flavour to it 🤤 xxx
Thanks Kerry, I’ve just ordered that whisk. My sauce was always lumpy and ended up using litres of milk. So easy to remember 50/50/500 👍
The whisk is brilliant and defo helps with the lumps :) let me know how you get on :) xxx

Oohh that’s so interesting.. I’m going to try that way :) thanks for the tip xxx
Try potato starch. Closer to flour in texture and gluten free.
Love this! Never thought to put mustard powder in.. can’t wait to try it 👍
The mustard powder is so good in it.. really adds a little something 🤤🤤
Thank you kerry it came out perfect I have been struggling with white sauce for so long this feels good 😊
You are so welcome :) xxx

I always add ground nutmeg for extra flavour
I grate my own, much more flavor....
@@JohnPotts-kq7kk yes that's what I do
Yassss mustard powder! I usually use whole fat milk that I've heated up with whole peppercorns, half a white onion and a bay leaf already.
Hi kerry that was so simple to make I bet you could add some flavours to it xx👍🌞
Yes of course.. here is your base and then you can add so many different things to it to make it taste different every time :) xxx

I love this and you for this oh mAh gad
I didn't follow yours exactly but the steps helped me make an even better white sauce
Thank you,
You saved the Day 🥰
Does the temp of the milk impact the sauce?
How long can store it in freeze?
Amazing recipe!.... You wouldn't happen to know how many quarts, you made yields, would you?
An Imperial pint is 600ml so a quart is 1.2lts
can I use olive oil insted of butter?
I’m not too sure about that as I’ve never tried it.. but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work? U less it split? If you try it then let me know how it turns out :) xxx
@@KerryWhelpdale i tried it with olive oil, it was ok but did not taste as good as butter
Thank you
I usually add 2 tbs of urine. Really gives it a boost in the tanginess.
How do you store it?
I bought the spoon whisk and it was rubbish. The spoon whisk is way too small and wouldn't get rid of the lumps. I had to switch to a normal whisk.
salted or unsalted butter 🧈?
I use salted but either works just as well as the other :) xxx
Can I do it without butter because we don't have butter 😅
Marjerine?
What pan pls
Top 10
Plain White Sauce makes your teeth go grey! DHMIS fans, if yk yk.
