  • Hi, this video shows you how to play your games console or watch your Android TV box in any room of your property and control the equipment as well.
    I show a real life setup which allows me to play the Xbox 1S, PS3, Nintendo Switch and Android TV box in any room that I choose and by using USB extenders I can also control the games and TV box using the original controllers/keyboards etc.
    Many thanks Vince

    I want to thank you for such an incredible video. I also just want to put it out there for anyone interested in implementing a similar setup. I went on amazon and purchased quite a few of these items but the one thing I learned is.... not any ordinary hdmi extender will work if you intend to bring switches and distribute the signals, you need an hdmi extender that works over tcp/ip. I did not have this information beforehand but now I have to make new purchases.

    Love your set up, the only thing i do different in mine is i simplified my set uup with USB Hubs, and USB Type c Adapters, and all my HDMIS are also Hdmi over Ethernet, very useful for having tvs anywhere i want, and then i combo it with a few WIFI Extenders and MirrorCast Devices for tablets and things i have set up to be able to play anywhere anyone wants, its very useful for some of my little gaming parties i do now and then, or when friends have the kids over, and we wanna play games while they do. , i find powered USB hubs to be the biggest upgrade path for you in your set up, your reliant on base station power from what i saw and that can degregate latency. 10/10 very nice to see other people doing these crazy tech builds
    Id love to talk to you Vince, im not educated on this stuff either and just love tearing things apart and re building them as well.

    May i suggest you to use some kind of panel to hang all the devices and connectors in order to keep the wires neat and in order?
    You'd recover a lot of space if you manage to create some order and proper cable management :)
    In my setup i struggle every time i made an addiction, but i try as much as possibile to have a neat arrangement.

    Hey Vince! Just a few things I've found with this:
    PS4:
    1) Apologies if you already know this, but it's only the CUH-ZCT2 controllers which work as wired controllers on the PS4. That should hopefully fix your problem.
    2) If not, the Navigation controllers seem to work as wired controllers both on the PS3 and PS4 (they have to resync when I disconnect them.) Obviously, even if that does work, it'll greatly limit the games you can play, because it doesn't have all the buttons, and the PS Move controllers understandably only seem to work as wireless controllers on both consoles again (they don't have to resync when I disconnect them.)
    3) If that still doesn't work, the PS3 controllers always seem to work as wired controllers, both on the PS3 as you've found, and on the PS TV (they have to resync when I disconnect them.) Therefore, if you can get them to work on the PS4, they should let you do this.
    4) If all else fails, you could try using the wireless adapter at the end of the USB extender, and use the PS4 controller wirelessly. Maybe, if it were within Bluetooth range of that, rather than the actual console, it would still work.
    PS TV:
    Interestingly, it's only the PS3 controllers which seem to work as wired controllers on the PS TV, not the PS4 ones. The PS Move and Navigation controllers don't seem to be compatible with it at all, which is understandable.
    Nintendo Switch:
    While we already established that it's only the Pro controller which works as a wired controller, and not the Joy-Cons in the Joy-Con grip (I'm not sure about third-party controllers), I found I still had to use the Pro controller in my setup as the Bluetooth range of the Joy-Cons is not great.
    Hope something of this is helpful! Thanks again for the video!

    • @timothyhinks5754
      @timothyhinks5754 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was right about the PS TV btw. I realised there's an easy way to check on that whether you're using a wired controller or Bluetooth. You just click 'Settings', 'Devices' and 'Bluetooth Devices'. If you're using a wired controller, as opposed to Bluetooth, it won't have the green dot next to the controller.
      It is only the PS3 controllers which act as wired controllers. Obviously, there's only the one USB port though, and using a USB hub only let me use two controllers as wired controllers, which then decided to keep disconnecting when I tried to play a game.
      So, basically, if you're doing more than one player, I would just use Bluetooth (as long as you're within range) on either the PS3 or PS4 controllers.

    The online chat part of the ps3 can be solved if you use the Sony wireless stereo headset. That uses a usb dongle that you could plug into your second usb extension. That will pass your voice to online and pass game and chat audio to your ears instead of the tv.

    Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure Dual Shocks only work via BT. You can buy the 3rd party Sony endorsed "Pro" controllers that *DO* have USB control but I'm pretty positive that the basic DS controller (V1 & V2) only work via BT.
    I think official X1 controllers work via USB or BT. I know their Pro model does but I think the base controller also works via USB.
    IMO, it's maybe the only thing they did better than Sony this gen.

    Really useful stuff. One question: does transferring the HDMI image work when using a homeplug setup? I use homeplug to play movies from my NAS to various media devices around the house...

    • @pineappleroad
      @pineappleroad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im not familiar with the term homeplug, but if it is pretty much the same thing as a powerline adapter (which sends an Ethernet connection through the mains wiring) then unless you are using HDMI over IP adapters it wont work (im not sure if it would work with HDMI over IP adapters, but if it does you may run into issues with the image quality, especially at higher video resolutions)

    Them hdmi ethernet senders are way better with cat 5 cable had problems with cat 6 solid core and cat7 flat cables
    Use cat5 also you can get same hdmi splitter with ethernet built in with powered reciever and has ir remote eyes too use cat5 probably not 4k either
    Also if u cant be botherd with wires you can get 5ghz hdmi senders that dont interfere with Bluetooth and wifi 2.4ghz
    Good video
    Wow ffs bro i like the wire cupboard 😅😅😅

    For the PS4, it's not that the controller has to be within wireless range when the controller is connected via the cable.... USB 2.0/3.0 has a maximum length threshold. Therefore, if you try to connect the controller using a USB cable that's too long, the controller won't work.

    I would rather have a dedicated game room..or put a different console in different rooms...lol ... example in my house...I have a xbox360 in one bedroom.. a android box with emulated games in the living room and a ps4 In a next bedroom

    • @pineappleroad
      @pineappleroad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of have a dedicated game room, i have a PC, an Xbox 360 S, an Xbox One X, and a Nintendo Switch, all in my bedroom, i do not have an Xbox Series X or a PS5 right now, but i plan on getting one of each, they will also go in my bedroom, i also do not have a PS3 or PS4, and i have no plans on getting either of those
      Right now, my Xbox 360 S and also the Nintendo Switch dock are not connected up, because i don’t yet have a dedicated HDMI switcher for the consoles, so i have to connect the console that i want to use to the spare port on the KVM switch
      I have a second 360 (one of the “elite” ones) connected to the TV downstairs, I plan on getting an Xbox Series S for the TV downstairs, and it will be connected to the “same” input on the AV receiver as the 360 (the AV receiver counts all the different types of connector assigned to that input button as the same source, and prioritises higher quality sources (for example, HDMI gets priority over Component, which gets priority over Composite)
      So if the 360 is on at the same time as the series s, the series s gets priority, now all i have to do is find a console that i can connect via composite so that i can have a full set of consoles connected to a single input

    Hey thanks for the video! Just to say, I've got the charging grip, and, when I disconnect it from a wired connection, it doesn't have to resync with the Nintendo Switch, as you showed it does with the Pro controller. (Suggesting it will only communicate wirelessly.)
    So with PS4, you're saying it's only possible to do Remote Play, and there's no way to control it from another room otherwise? Thanks!

      You could do but you would need more USB extenders and a USB Hub and I am not sure even with these additional items whether splitting it along 2 or 3 runs would affect all the signals. Maybe you could put another USB splitter box after the 1st USB splitter box to divide it between different rooms to save it travelling down all the cables all the time.

    Hey Vince, sorry it's me again. Just to ask, in this setup, how do I stop the host TV changing input automatically when I turn a new device on? I mean, to change the input on the destination TV, I need to turn the device on that I want to use on it, and press the button on the HDMI splitter.
    I have the same problem with doing Remote Play on the PS4 Pro, although I can just unplug the HDMI lead from the HDMI Switch to avoid the problem with that.
    Apart from having the device already turned on, I can't really find a way around this (except maybe getting an HDMI matrix, which is considerably more expensive.) Can you help please? Thanks!

      Hey there, you may not be able to depending on the TV. You could look into turning off CEC may be called AnyNet+, HDMI-CEC, SIMPLINK on the TV or HDMI Device Link on the PS4 etc. www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/5/18/15658876/samsung-tv-2016-automatic-hdmi-switching-complaints

      Thanks for the reply Vince! I meant that it was the HDMI switch which was switching inputs automatically, but I could have some things plugged into other HDMI ports on the TV, and then follow this advice to not make it switch inputs automatically on the TV either.
      I mentioned HDMI matrices as I thought they wouldn't change inputs automatically as they have more than one output. Is that right? Thanks!

    Am I missing something? This looks like a mirroring setup, so all TVs show the same thing? Or is it possible for the TVs to be independently used somehow?

    • @pineappleroad
      @pineappleroad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The setup he is using there displays the same image on all the connected TVs
      I suppose in the case of the UK, if someone only used Freeview (which is essentially an unencrypted TV signal, usually digital but in some areas analogue signals may still be available), then a setup like this may be more useful than to someone who has a subscription TV service, as they would have a choice of TV or the HDMI source on each TV
      But if you were to use a HDMI matrix switcher, then you could have each TV display a different source, however, you would only be able to change the sources if you are in the same room as the switcher

    but if say you had 2 kids wanting to use the tv at the same time, one wanted ps3 and other wanted to watch pregramems, it wouldn't work.

    • @Mymatevince
      @Mymatevince  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes it would work if one wanted the PS3 on one TV and one wanted to watch normal TV on another TV because you would select the source (input on the TV) so for example all the consoles could be connected to all the TVs on input HDMI1 but then you can still watch TV via the aerial or a set top box via HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 etc.
