Yeah, especially Eldraine, since it had really relevant additions to Pauper (M20 not so much). I am not really seeing this with THB. Right now it is mainly Golden Egg, , Mystic Sanctuary and a bit Witch's Cottage. Sanctuary plus Tragic Lesson is one of the more relevant engines lately. And I can see some of the commons from Eldraine being on the brink of coming into some decks. Not sure in what matchups I would want or need the sacrifice enchantment clause for Mono Black Control. Against Bogles you are better suited letting the sacrifice a creature usually. And while it may snipe the occasional o-ring or Journey to Nowhere I think you are better of doing something else instead. On a sidenote: Journey to Nowhere is not an Aura
As a newbie to magic the gathering I wanted to say thank you for all the videos. I feel like a lot of other channels aren't suited for new players such as myself but you always explain and talk about the game in a way that's easy for me to understand. Thank you for the awesome videos and for getting me into this amazing game Professor!
I always buy good commons of a new set. They may not be usable right away but they may find a home in the future. They're cheap anyway. Here's my list of buyables: Daybreak Chimera Transcendent Envoy Flicker of Fate Brine Giant Naiad of Hidden Coves Stern Dismissal Thirst for Meaning Towering-Wave Mystic Fruit of Tizerus Mire's Grasp Mogis Favor Pharika's Libation Underworld Charger Irreverent Revelers Satyr's Cunning Underworld Rage-Hound Ilysian Caryatid Voracious Typhon Omen of the Forge Omen of the Sun Omen of the Sea Omen of the Dead Omen of the Hunt
I know it's not the same kind of meta, but it's funny to hear "just an Instant Preordain" as a way to dismiss a card that's banned in Modern. With it costing two it may still not get played there due to how fast Modern tends to move, but only time will tell.
I plan on running at least one or two Omen of the Sea in my UR Faeries Skred deck. The fact that you can play it at instant speed is just so powerful, since it allows you to keep up tempo when your opponent fails to play anything you want to counter. And then you get even more value off of sacing it later. I think it absolutely has a home in decks that like to play at instant speed.
Skola grovedancer is a blessing in disguise for TortEx decks, as it benefits from the dredged lands. Also Mark of the lamprey gives you two important effects in one card (albeit expensive)
Nice video, hopefully we'll get a pauper top 5 and a pauper deck tech at least everytime a set comes out! I also have some constructive (I hope) criticism that I would like to present: I think Daybreak Chimera is worse than many people think because of many reasons: it can be removed with all 1 CMC removal spells that are pauper relevant, so not just Bolt but also Defile, Savage Swipe and a 2-power creature, a flipped Delver (not technically removal, but you get the idea) and obviously Skred, playing it at turn 3 for WW is the best case scenario because it generally depends on your devotion that can decrease as well as increase and it's just a french vanilla. Trascendent Envoy doesn't affect the casting cost of non-aura enchantments, so Journey to Nowhere doesn't care about it. The red and the white omens are good cards, but the blue and the black ones are as good in my opinion: the blue is an instant-speed preordain that can give you an extra Scry 2 later, very nice if you're playing Mono Blue Delver since Gush is no longer playable, the black is the first instant raise dead effect at common rarity and builds devotion for Gary the Merchant. I recently made a not-so-serious video about good common cards from this set as well, maybe you could give it a quick look.
I honestly think the black Omen is pretty good. It's instant speed Raise Dead, which we haven't had yet, with the added bonuses of adding to black devotion and the ability to sac it to scry 2 for card selection.
Journey to nowhere is an enchantment but the Griffin specifies Auras so it doesn't do anything for Journey. Other than that list was cool, I'm not sure if I agree about the order of it but as always, thanks for bringing more attention to Pauper.
I'm actually considering running one Omen of the Dead in mono black, replacing an Unearth. I find Unearth gets Spellstuttered early on anyway, and Omen would be much better in the late game where I'm just hoping to recast a Gary off of Witch's Cottage. Plus, it adds one to devotion, so even without the cycling it's never completely dead. Probably too weak, but I'm sick of Unearth anyway.
My mentipns would be the aura with flash for blue that gives hexproof for a turn and +1/+1 forever, as well as the giant that costs 1 less for each enchantment you control. While a good deck with blue that care for enchantments does not exist yet, those two cards are a nice start. Hell, bogles doesn't play blue, but it could, thanks to cards like utopia sprawl.
Perhaps Omen of the Dead could slot in as a 1 or 2 of in the Mono Black deck? I guess it just doesn't affect the board very much. I must just overvalue returning creatures back from the GY too much.
I do think all the omens have a place at the table. The blue is a 2 mana draw ~3, the black is a cheap combo enabler/protector, and the green is an instant speed ramp. Sign me up.
Enchantment removal in BLACK wt*?! Perfect timing to release this T5 btw, pre-release is tomorrow and I’ll def look out for that white flyer and those omens 👍
I'm looking forward to making UG Enchantment Stompy with Brine Giant. Utopia Sprawl and wild Growth into a fast one of those and huge Aura Gnarlid/Yavimaya Enchantress.
I think the black omen " omen of the dead" can see play. With it you can get back an escape card without having to pay the escape cost, leabing it open for later play
Played Omen of the Sun in 2 pre-release events this weekend and holy ass, it’s good. There are a lot of cards in TBD that let you flicker it for free soldiers and life as well!
I think Underworld Charger will be great for Dredge and Torment decks. Sure it's not as good as Angler but a 5/5 for 5 that you can keep bringing back consistently seems gas.

I love pauper. it's affordable, there's never broken garbage like Oko and mox opal, and best of all: despite people always saying that pauper is weak, we have cards like ponder, preordain, and counterspell that modern can only dream of.
Really surprised to not see Hero of the Pride/Games on the list. Battle Cry creatures are really expensive at common for a reason and these two are cost efficient and occur in colours with strong token generation. Having access to multiple Battle Cry triggers per turn seems strong. Sigil Blessing on a Hero of the Pride is a crazy team boost for two mana. Also Naiad of Hidden Coves. Anything that gives a cost reduction that can be used multiple times a turn is potentially strong and this one is effectively a Stormscape Familiar for instants and Flash cards, even those of enemy colours.
Randomly leaving a comment here but in an old review you mentioned you can tear apart dragon shield sleeves, and you showed this. However all the ones I've bought recently tear immediately if I test this. They still hold up great through normal use of course, but it is a curious concern of mine.
No mention of Flicker of Fate? I know a lot of these were white(which is great to see), but it even synergizes oh so well with most things you've spoken about.
I want to build a RW aura deck. Any advice? I considered doing pioneer instead of legacy but I feel I'd miss out on some excellent cards. I'm not looking to make a tier 1 tourny deck, just to make it as good as I can with red and white.
What are two pauper decks that have fairly balanced gameplay against each other? My friend and I would like to get into they format, but our LGS doesn’t have any events yet.
but.. but.. the black omen is like an instant-speed Raise Dead so it can be played reactively and in response to a spell exiling cards from your graveyard!
I don't know about those 2 first places on Boros lists. I don't think that they're good Skyfisher targets. The Red one is interesting, but the white one doesn't fit the deck that much. Maybe I'm wrong.
That aren't any lords in Common, so it would be very off archetype. The only Blue Tribe that's nice and plays well are Faeries and even they need support.

Modern: topdecks are 40-50$ each.

Nice wordplay

Legacy, Turn 1 was a $600 play
Dont play pauper yet but i never turn down a fresh baked tcc vid with my morning coffee

is there no video like this for Eldrain?
@@_cephalotus4187 not for pauper, no.
Important note! Journey to Nowhere is not an aura, and thus doesn't get its cost reduced by Transcendent Envoy.
Reality Acid is, though. Mwahahahaha!
Journey to Nowhere isn't an aura and doesn't get a cost reduction.
Pacifism is
and for ethereal armor the cost reduction does nothing...

@@TheKingreddragon I don't know the Pauper meta, but if there are any cost increase effects floating around then the cost reduction will still matter.
