For some reason when he said that he took in Layne's cat I gained so much more respect for Jerry than I thought I could have for him.
Jerry's a cat lover. He's has 2 right now & I've seen him with other ones, too. Plus, being at the ranch, there's always room for a cat or two, lol.
That's Sadie. She was Demri's but when she died Layne adopted the cat. After his dead, Jerry took Sadie in and gave her a happy life until she finally died around 2010.

Logan Stroganoff theres no proof of that, people think that because of how long it was until he was found. But cats are extremely intelligent when it comes to being suck in certain situations like that. So im pretty sure the cat probably just went through some food Layne had laying around or clawed its way through bags in order to eat. Including since Layne would barely leave his home for weeks on end, at that point, he mightve had food bowls laying everywhere or some type of self-sufficient system, for the cat. Who knows? i would imagine with his addiction he wasn’t very set up in any schedule to feed her anyway. Plus Layne was so skinny by then (78 pounds is rumored), there would honestly be little to nothing for the cat to even eat of him.

A man with a big heart - Jerry created the stability and home base for his family that he lacked growing up.
This is what happens when you get old. You become responsible. Even rockstars become responsible. Instead of wasting all his cash on flashy shit and drugs, Jerry builds a ranch for his family.

This Cribs episode was done 16 years ago, and didn't you hear him mention the land has been owned by his family for years.
He wasn't old in 2002, he was like in his early or mid 30s around that time.
This is the cutest thing EVER! One of the biggest rock stars on the planet, and he lived in a home made by him and his dad. So awesome. Such a down to earth guy. He really was the "band Dad" of the group! Layne would have loved to visit there - away from the maddening crowd, with lots of toys to play with, and animals, he would have been in paradise!
I wonder if he boards some of those horses..or they were all his..he must have stablehands when he is on tour..unless Jerry Sr.and his siblings take over
It's funny to say this about a guy that wrote some of the heaviest, darkest songs of the 90s, but Jerry seems like a real sweetheart of a guy. This whole homestead is something a person can hang their hat on and be proud of and the end of their days.

I totally had the same thought. He would’ve been locked in with layne for 2 weeks if my memory is correct. Out of starvation he would have definitely restored to that. Fucked up to think about, I greatly admire Layne. Such a tragic loss.
That part made me sad. Especially because this was filmed not long after LS passed.

That made me really sad but kind of relieved to see I’m not the only one going threw that, “missing a parent” since my dad died, every morning I wake up really early and sit on my couch and stare at his picture and try hard not to forget what he sounded like, idk why I didn’t take any videos or more pictures, I wish I did, I can barely remember anymore.. 😢

You can tell that Jerry has a good relationship with his family, especially his dad. Very nice. And incredible that his family has held on to their land for so long. Living your life as a rockstar is probably insane. When youre off tour it would be nice to come home to a FAMILY home. Just plain and simple and to have livestock to take care of....keeps ya honest and down to earth. He's a true legend in my mind.

Aside from his natural musical and lyrical talents, Jerry has got to be the most level headed, modest, unpretentious, humble and family loving... ummm... rock success stories alive! (notice I didn't refer to him as being a ''rock star''... I doubt he'd care for the moniker)
I love Jerry, he's so cute. I love how much he loves his family, it's so sweet that he wins cuddly toys for his nieces and nephews. 90s was my era, had some great times but the best thing was the music and Jerry is a huge part of it. He's so cool, love this man so much !!!!❤❤❤

...when you grow up working class, it's all about the family. It's about creating spaces where everyone is welcome no matter what you have been through; no matter what is happening in your life you will always have a place to come where you are safe, warm, loved and comfortable.
I think this is something that the richer classes can never really experience or understand. It's very much a working class way of living and relating to our fellow humans.

The ranch is perfect, a little bit of paradise. It’s the first house on Cribs I actually think looks something I would like to live in. All of the crazy, marble, mausoleum-like mansions Cribs usually shows don’t do it for me at all. Cantrell and his Dad did a nice job on their home.
Notice how at the end he didn't say something like "now it's time for you to leave" or "get out" like they usually do on Cribs. I thought it was just mandatory. Guess not.

Never knew Jerry Cantrell had his own cribs episode and I used to watch cribs as a child way before I even got into metal so this is hella sick to me! Jerry Cantrell is the definition of a class act. The fact he took Laynes cat in is the sweetest thing I’ve heard in rock in a long time.
