Saw Alice open for Extreme on Oct 6, 1990 at Hammerjacks (RIP) in Baltimore, when I met Jerry years later, he told me that was their first East coast tour ... I just recall Layne being the most powerfully intensely charismatic lead vocalist I'd ever seen. It's both sad and wonderful to see how well both he and Mike are in these amazing vids. Sad to think Layne, Mike, and Eddie are long gone now 😪😪😪
i think it's funny that layne says they weren't grunge but they're probably one of the best and most influential bands of the grunge era. really goes to show that you can aim for a certain sound and say what you want to be, but the fans will label you what you truly are.
Saw them on them 5 days after this. One of the craziest days of my life. To me they were the best band to see live. Crazy to think how long ago that was. Just lost one of my best friends ever days before this show. I know he was there with us that night. Anyone else see AIC at Blossom that night?
This is just chillingly cool. I miss Layne and Mike everyday. Layne's voices is on point. Mike and his thundering bass is AMAZING! I would have gave anything to have him teach me Bass. Watching Jerry and Sean watch Eddie soundcheck is priceless. Like little kids. Mike and Layne seemed like the best of friends and they both seemed not like Rockstars but genuinely good down to earth guys anyone could be friends with. RIP LSMS!
They were all doing coke for a few years by this time, but after this tour it was balls to the wall. But point taken, they still looked young and relatively healthy.
VH soundchecking in the background basically guarantees that I'll hear nothing else and that footage starting at 38:12 of Jerry and Sean watching the GOAT gives me chills. 1991 was one of the best years ever.

Unbelievable that Eddie Van Halen is playing live in the background just unreal! I miss you Lane I'm sorry you were hurting so bad
🤯 @32:20 The Love, Hate, Love rehearsal! Layne as always effortlessly pleasing the ears with every note! Such a killer bass and guitar sound too! Priceless footage here! Magnificent! 👌
I’m speechless right now!!
Perfect way to ring in the new year!! Thank you so much!! You’re the best!! ❣️
Saw them on them 5 days after this. One of the craziest days of my life. To me they were the best band to see live. Crazy to think how long ago that was. Just lost one of my best friends ever days before this show. I know he was there with us that night. Anyone else see AIC at Blossom that night?
This is too awesome. My favorite band of all time. I'm so nostalgic about the 90's and seeing this old footage is so cool. Never seen this before.
Fuck, man. This was so hard to watch, but so so good too. 🥲 thank you for sharing these videos, legend.
Holy shit this is some of the best aic content i have ever seen
Damn they sound good! I was 22 back during this tour. What a time to be a music fan! The early-mid 90s were peak Alt music goodness!
RIP LSMS!
Layne Staley wearing an NWA hat might just be the coolest thing ever.
Soundgarden shirt? N.W.A hat? these guys are cooler than I thought they were.
When life was truly simple & not so complicated!! God Layne, you are truly missed 🖤💔
Holy smokes these guys rocked hard AF! Jerry Cantrell sounds absolutely incredible!
Love the interview with AIC with Van Halen performing in the background 🥰💕
It’s nice to see Lane here before he was swallowed by addiction. I loved his work before he got lost. Thanks for the great music
It's Layne
They were all doing coke for a few years by this time, but after this tour it was balls to the wall. But point taken, they still looked young and relatively healthy.
I saw AIC 3 times with Layne!
Incredible voice……………. I can never forget !
How lucky you are!!!!
VH soundchecking in the background basically guarantees that I'll hear nothing else and that footage starting at 38:12 of Jerry and Sean watching the GOAT gives me chills. 1991 was one of the best years ever.
Thank you so much for posting these. Makes me miss Mike and Layne more. RIP 🙏. This is a piece of history for sure.
He was so beautiful and articulate and expressive, they all were 💜
A young, healthy Layne & Mike. Ahhh man, good times, good days.
The look on Jerry's face around 38:20 as her is sitting there watching Eddie jam is priceless!
Ohhh my goodness I’m dying thank you for this ❤ That’s so awesome and special… Layne and Mike you are so loved and missed… 😢❤
Wow. Whenever new footage of AIC pops up especially with Layne and Mike it’s special. I love and miss those guys. They were good dudes.
I love how Van Halen is casually performing a live show in the background. RIP Eddie.
I love Alice In Chains and I absolutely love Layne Staley 💙Thank you for sharing this awesome video and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 🎉 RIP LAYNE AND MIKE 😇❤️🩹🌹
Alt Copperpot5, Thank you for making all of us happy, for real. Specially when any of us fans of AIC didn't know that unseen footage like this was about to be uploaded. Happy New Years to you brother! Take care.
I don't know how to thank you for that. Simply incredible and moving, it takes us back to those magical years. Please bring everything you have from Alice in Chains and Layne. Tank for this.
Thank you for posting these sound check videos. Love it, but hard to watch. Miss these guys. Fortunate to have seen them live and it's a memory that always makes me smile. Always!
Шикарная группа, благодарю за видео!!!Лейн💖💖💖🔥
Summer 1991. I was 21, they were what? 24, 25? Fame was just hitting them. What a time to be alive.
Layne was born August 22, 1967 so I believe he was 23 during the tour.
Lucky! I was only 9 in 1991. I would have loved to have been somewhere between 16 and 21 in 1991 - all the cool concerts I could have seen or been aware of, lol
