Layne Staley just seemed like a genuinely good soul. This guy didn't get an inkling of the coverage & recognition that Cobain got when he passed, and he was just as important. And a better vocalist/lyricist/frontman as well. What a band. A shame he's not around anymore.

I wrote Laynes mom Nancy decade ago, she helped me get off drugs(well more than just that) just through pages and pages of letters. We became pen pals. Every now and then I'll send her an email and she will reply. She's super busy now but just love and warmth. Never met Layne but I feel as though I did through his mother. A very kind woman, one that I believe Layne got those qualities from.

I saw VH 4 times during the Roth years, and Once in the 5150 Tour. There were SO MANY hot chicks at those early VH Concerts too. Met all the Alice in Chains guys exactly One year later. Nashville. My Girlfriend was Co owner of a Company that supplied ALL the Emergency Medical Supplies and People at events at Starwood and Another place in town. They had to have several Ambulances, EMS folks, and she supplied 2 different MD's as well. One was a Emergency Room D.O., and the other was an Orthopedic Dr. Met all the AIC guys a year later, as well as Shannon Hoon. I hold the time I spent with Shannon close to my heart. I saw Layne in a three piece suit at the start of their set on Lollapolooza in 93 and it was like 95 degrees that day! Needless to say he took the jacket tie vest and shirt off after playing Would the first song to start the show! Very charismatic singer and great stage presence! His voice very unique and an unbelievable range! RIP Layne!
Layne’s mom said it best regarding his voice: it’s like Nails surrounded by marshmallows! I agree👍🏻 RIP LAYNE❤️

He was such a sweet kid. Funny how perception changes once we live life and understand the nuances fit within peoples’s personalities. As a kid I thought Layne was this dark scary dude. I think Rooster, Angry Chair, Would?, Them Bones gave Layne a visual persona that did not mesh with who he actually was. I guess that just shows how creative he, AIC and their team was.

14:58 That part where Mike Starr says 'I feel like I'm in a coffin right now' while lying next to Layne hits hard in retrospect. Knowing they both passed away years later, it feels haunting, almost like a chilling foreshadowing. This tour footage captures more than just a moment in time-it’s a reminder of the fragility of life and the struggles they both faced. RIP Mike and Layne 🙏

I can only imagine the emotions they were going through, having the opportunity to tour with a band they idolized! This is the best set of videos I've seen and really enjoy being able to see the experience they had on their tours. These were Incredible times for them, so young and talented and Mike was his typical charming self. They looked so great on stage and were such goofs off! Love them so and miss Layne and Mike so very much! When Layne passed, I felt like I lost a friend because I was so close to their music growing up. He was so magnetic and beautiful. He was the coolest, most stylish, obviously sensitive and sincere person and the absolute GOAT of all time. AIC will always have my heart! ❤

The drum check is annoying AF, and isn't necessary to beat them that long, literally 20 mins just to adjust each drum mic dynamics is way too long. But the estate sale thing is interesting, and I wish we had a more detailed background

Saw Alice open for Extreme on Oct 6, 1990 at Hammerjacks (RIP) in Baltimore, when I met Jerry years later, he told me that was their first East coast tour ... I just recall Layne being the most powerfully intensely charismatic lead vocalist I'd ever seen. It's both sad and wonderful to see how well both he and Mike are in these amazing vids. Sad to think Layne, Mike, and Eddie are long gone now 😪😪😪
