Thank you so much! Also (Keri) for NOT editing it out - it is important for the world to see how REAL people / artist feel about everything that is going on
I also want to say I love watching three strong women giving each other space to feel their emotions and supporting each other. I spent my entire life training in ballet- I chose to walk away in my 20s and this conversation reminds me so much of what I went through- leaving an art form that I tied my entire identity to. It is interesting to see it from the point of view of another art form.
I just returned to this interview because I saw Elza as Elisabeth in Tannhauser last weekend. She was really fantastic! I’ve seen her before as Chysothemis, and she was wonderful, but the Wagner really opened a new world - she sang it very bel canto, which is rarely the case in Wagner.
Keri and Sondra you are wonderfully generous and smart and caring, and you give your guest such a great loving platform to be sincere. Elzie feels happy and loved...thank you....bravo to the 3 of you
what a heart warming and touching interview. It gives me more understanding, insight and appreciation of what artists have endured and coped during the pandemic. The uncertainty of the future is so hard and I was in tears too. Let's go to WATCH an OPERA to support the artists and GET VACCINATED. Nothing beats a real human voice. My heart are with you all.
I am just a trumpet player but i admire the humanity in your show and the strength you all have in the face of adversity! All musicians can learn from you!
The most amazing interview. I‘m a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and have been seen how my students have struggled, dealt with suicidal thoughts, have to „give up“ music and start driving for Amazon (for instance) just to make sure their own children had food, etc, etc. As their teacher I had to keep them together and watch them bond together as a team and also keep me up as well. This interview has such an important message to help us all, thank you Screaming divas!
Such a warm and REAL exchange. Thank you Sondra and Keri ~ not just in this one, but in all your interviews ~ for showing us what the opera business, and opera singers really look like! You're right on that most of us have no idea what singing artists go through on the daily to have a successful pro career; or what a toll this forced hiatus is taking on artists/the arts. So thank you all for your openness and emotional honesty❣❤ And whatever you do, do not lose hope! And don't EVER listen to that nagging negative voice in your head, Keri. Follow your heart and your love of singing and the operatic voice.
Oh, I was bawling right from the start! Such a beautiful vulnerability that we all share…we FEEL things more…wonderful interview with such a consummate artist. Love her in Maria Stuarda and have tix to Rodelinda! Truly appreciate your show so much. It’s healing. Thank you! 💜
Thank you for the vulnerability in this episode. My heart goes out to all 3 of you. There was so much truth and relatable conversation. The world is filled with fear for so many reasons, but a different type of fear comes with a music career. As a young singer who is constantly in fear of the future of opera, it was a relief to see I wasn't alone in my thoughts and feelings. You are all such strong people and spread a huge amount of light. I hope the sun shines bright for you all too, real soon.
I’m so excited to see Elza and Russell in Fidelio this month! Thank you three for authentically sharing your truths. This is still a surreal and scary time for so many of us. We hope for freedom in the face of uncertainty. Prisoners’ Chorus: Speak softly! Be on your guard! We are watched with eye and ear. Oh what joy, in the open air Freely to breathe again! Up here alone is life. Toi toi toi to Elza!🎶❤️
Elza my dear, we are human and we grieve differently. This pandemic has affected us in so many ways. Brava on doing the cakes and using a different art form to cope. You three are absolutely amazing artists and things will open back up. Hugs to y'all
I heard Elza and Quinn Kelsey in Sicilian Vespers in Frankfurt a few years ago. BRILLIANT!!!!!!! Both she and Quinn were so generous with their time after - what a joy!
Beautiful, touching interview. I'm torn about the digital content because as an audience member of course this is SO amazing to have. I can see the highest level of performances that as a student I could never afford traveling for or paying for the tickets. I can gain knowledge and experience so many different singers. Of course the sound is not the same but I can see the acting up close while at the Met I can't afford places even remotely close to the stage. It plays a big part for me in making opera accessible to everyone. But of course I see the challenges from your perspective and I do think that if a performances goes really bad you should have the right to not have that be distributed everywhere. And if the companies are making money with the streams so should the singers.
It’s okay to be done. I left a profession after 20-years. I retooled myself into a passion occupation and did it well. Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself.
While HD Broadcasts of operas is rather new, the Metropolitan Opera did their first Boheme or Butterfly with Scotto in the mid 70s. I quite enjoy seeing them, but much prefer live in person. I agree about hearing ourselves, I don't like listening to myself. I pray this all ends and all theaters open! Please get vaccinated everyone.

We agree with you and hope that it helps them feel like they are NOT alone right now! Thank you for reaching out and sharing this too.

I’m beyond happy that you guys are back- what a beautiful interview
Divas: having an insightful, intelligent conversation
My brain: WHERE IS THE DOG
I'm glad they rescheduled Fidelio.
