  • Jacob Elordi's portrayal of Elvis is Oscar-worthy!
This video presents a review of the 2023 Priscilla movie from an Elvis fan who has mixed feelings about the film, but can conclude that Jacob Elordi nailed it as Elvis! Jacob Elordi's Elvis voice was spot-on, and his physicality and mannerisms made me feel like I was watching Elvis!
The PRISCILLA movie explained - is the Priscilla movie good or is it bad? How does it make Elvis look? How does it make Priscilla look? Does the film deserve all the glowing reviews it has received from critics? Or does it deserve the negative remarks made by the Elvis Presley estate?

Good grief..... 46 years later & she wants us to believe her stories that she has changed so many times. I have done research & it has been an eye opener on who she really is. It's well known that Elvis didn't want to marry her. 1) She put a lien on Graceland in April 1977 to get more alimony money 2) She just did an interview with Piers Morgan & said she told Lisa Marie about Elvis death & we all know that Lisa was at Graceland and saw her dad.3) she sued Lisa Marie estate shortly after her death..... And much more . She is Shameless

I just watched that piers Morgan interview with Priscilla. In the interview, she stated that she told Lisa about Elvis’ death. We all know for a fact that Lisa was at Elvis’ house when he died. This particular statement made me wonder if she is having dementia issues. It looked like she believed it to be true- not like she was stating it for dramatic effect. In the emails that Lisa Marie sent to Sophia Coppola, She stated her mother did not fully understand how the movie would make Elvis look. I am now wondering is she meant her mother was not “capable “ of understanding. I may be way off , but it did make think “what???” Having said that, I never planned to spend my money seeing this movie. I saw the mini-series back in the 80s. Once was enough. Actually, once was too much.

@@tlo3571i think Pricilla ment she saw Lisa Marie driving around in the golfcar when Pricilla arrived to Graceland from LA. Then they stay together , maybe they don't sleep on Graceland but somwere else, until they went to Graceland to see Elvis lying Lit de parade and there Pricilla surtenly talk with Lisa Marie about Elvis is sleeping in the coffin. That makes sense for me, thats the way that I understood what she is telling. But well we al got different way to listen to a story.

If you watch the interview again, she clarifies what she said. She was talking about when she got to Memphis and saw Lisa she spoke to her about Elvis dying. Piers later asks her about their last conversation and she clarifies that Lisa was in Memphis visiting Elvis when he died.

Here's a visual manipulation used that sets the tone for the entire movie. Elvis Presley was 5ft 9inches tall (1.82m - which is not tall for a man) and Priscilla was 5ft 4 Inches tall (1.63 m - average height for a woman) - a difference of 5 INCHES. Keep that in mind because here comes the manipulation. Jacob Elordi is 6 FOOT 5 INCHES tall (1.96m - 8 inches taller than Elvis and extremely tall for a man) and Cailee Spaeny is 5 foot 1 inch tall (1.55m - 3 inches SHORTER than Priscilla) - a difference between the two of them is almost ONE AND A HALF FEET (0.45 meters).
Let's set the record straight, Elvis Presley did NOT tower over Priscilla. He was not so tall she would feel threatened and/or intimidated, but the film certainly wants you to think that way. When Priscilla first came on the scene in 1962, she was SEVENTEEN (they had not laid eyes on each other for 3 YEARS) and when Priscilla moved to Memphis she not only stayed with Vernon and Dee Presley but she was also EIGHTEEN. Also, Priscilla pursued Elvis, it was not the other way round. You can get this titbit from Priscilla herself and also Anita Wood

@@retrobilly1719 Fair Enough but my point was to say that there was never a ONE AND A HALF Feet height difference between Elvis and Priscilla - height wise they appeared to be a perfect match in reality. Never did Elvis tower over Priscilla in a threatening manner or stoop to kiss her. It was a manipulation that was designed to immediately invoke a sense of uncomfortable in the audience simply to promote Priscilla's play at being a victim of Elvis Presley.

I thought this movie review was direct, honest, and straightforward in every way that counted. Someone did say that the movie Priscilla was painting a dark side to Elvis's character. It is one reason why, I don't want to see it, as Elvis is dead and should rest in peace. He isn't here to protect himself against any hearsay, which may arise, due to this movie. Priscilla has been known to change her story about this and that, again and again, and she rehashes a subject that has already been talked about in detail with Elvis and Me. Elvis and Priscilla never had a fairy-tale romance. Their relationship was often troubled, tumultuous, and intricate. To me, they were two wrong people, who fell in love with each other. They couldn't make their marriage work, because they simply didn't work out, as a couple. They weren't true loves or soul mates. They were only destined to be together for a short time and that was it. Most importantly, their love was conditional, and not unconditional like real love should be. For one thing, Elvis wasn't the marrying kind, and enjoyed being single. He was forced into marrying Priscilla. Another factor that only served to destroy their sham marriage. I refuse to see the new movie Priscilla, because there are two sides to every story, and Priscilla's is only one side of it. If Elvis were alive, he could give his side to this story, but he cannot. So, with this said, I say again how much I enjoyed this movie review. I'm only expressing my opinion here.

I couldnt help but CRINGE in the theater because this film IS WILDLY INACCURATE, just as her book of lies was in 1985.
I can clear it up for ya'll with facts. Not opinion or BS. The short story: Priscilla Presley was 21yrs old when she got married. Not 14 like so many think. 21. And she stated that she was a virgin on her wedding night. So zero sex beforehand.
The longer story: Elvis was not a pedophile. Priscilla was IN GERMANY and dating teens her age during her teen years there. Elvis was busy in the US making movies dating 20s somethings such as Anita Wood and Ann Margaret. There was NO TIME or LOGISTICS for "grooming" or sex with Priscilla. There was an OCEAN in the way!!
Priscilla had sex with Elvis for the first time during her 21st year. So this was NOT outrageous like it is today with teens having BABIES at 14 years of age.
NO OPPORTUNITY AT ALL FOR PRISCILLA'S UNTRUE STORY to be true: Since AGE OF CONSENT in the United States was 16 years old in the 1960s, and Priscilla was IN GERMANY from the age of 14 through 17, Elvis didnt have a chance to even see her again until she was almost 18 and by then it was perfectly fine for them to have sex BUT HE DID NOT BECAUSE he was thousands of miles away making movies and dating adults.
So it was IMPOSSIBLE for Elvis to have been a "pedo" or a groomer by today's standards or 1960s standards.

@@tlo3571 In Memphis, age of consent was 16 in the 1960s. So Priscilla being 17, 2 months shy of her 18th birthday mean this entire movie's story-line and attack mode are moot points. Still, Elvis wasnt even living in Memphis until he settled back down from making movies when she was 18 years old. It is so easy to see that Priscilla is lying through her teeth about Elvis. She is trying to profit from the Me Too generation ... She realizes they care less about details and facts than the narrative.
They literally say "Ohhh this sounds like a good grooming story" ... without ever realizing that it isnt one. Its a Gold Diggers story of how to trick Elvis, the courts and the public.

Beaulieu is a self-serving narcissist who knew what she was getting into when she first met Elvis at age 14.
After all, Elvis had a longtime girlfriend back home in the US, Anita Wood (1957-1962), yet spent time with several German frauleins in spite of that. Little "innocent" Beaulieu did not mind being another girl he cheated on his girlfriend with.
Elvis returned to the US on March 1, 1960, while Beaulieu and her family remained in Germany. There she terrorized her mother and stepfather because she had only recently found out he was not her biological father. She played Elvis and Mr. and Mrs. Beaulieu against each other. She told untruths about her home situation begging Elvis to save her by letting her come over and she made family life in Germany for her parents and half-siblings hell.
It was Beaulieu who pursued Elvis, sending him risqué photos of herself (condoned/facilitated by her parents!). In a 1973 interview with Ladies Home Journal, Beaulieu is quoted saying that her mother, Ann Iversen, said that knowing Elvis was “an opportunity of a lifetime”. Her mother and stepfather played a questionable role in the development of Beaulieu's long-distance "affair" with Elvis that reeks of ulterior motives. If they'd really been worried or incensed and believed that all the initiative came from Presley, they could have stopped it right then and there. Yet, they didn't; they played along.
They first allowed her to visit Elvis in the US when she was 16. More than a year passed until her next visit at 17. Beaulieu did not move to Memphis until she was close to 18 when she moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee. It is total nonsense that many claim that she "lived with Elvis since she was 14". BEAULIEU AND ELVIS WEREN'T EVEN ON THE SAME CONTINENT FOR THE BETTER PART OF 3 YEARS.
During the years before their marriage, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii and having multiple affairs with co-stars. Beaulieu knew this and could have left then, since they were not married yet, but of course, she stayed because the goal was to become Mrs. Presley.
According to Beaulieu, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Beaulieu, her parents, and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. The most logical thing that happened is that a threat was made that they would go public about Elvis "dating" a minor while in his twenties if he would not keep his promise to marry her. After all: Jerry Lee Lewis had gone through a scandal that people might be reminded of if the Beaulieus had gone public: Jerry Lee Lewis had married his 13-year-old cousin!
Then everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Beaulieu's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The whole ceremony took just 8 minutes followed by a press conference (listen to what the Memphis mafia guys say about them getting married at the 24:33 mark of th-cam.com/video/p8blOqK90PM/w-d-xo.html). You can hear what Elvis told about the wedding in the recording of the last phone conversation Red West had with him before he died "That wedding thing, that wedding thing. It was in there over and done with so quick. I didn't realize I was married." (th-cam.com/video/p8blOqK90PM/w-d-xo.html).
Beaulieu soon became pregnant, but Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born. Beaulieu and Elvis effectively lived their lives apart as early as 6 weeks after Lisa was born when Beaulieu began an affair with her dance instructor. During the taping of the 1968 Singer Special (later redubbed the 1968 Comeback Special) Elvis had an affair with Susan Henning, while Beaulieu attended some of the tapings with her lover (the dance instructor).
By 1969, after Elvis had finished his movie contracts and had begun not only his residency at The International Hotel in Las Vegas, but also his touring around the USA, he was away from Memphis an average of 150 - 200 days a year. He bought a mansion for his family, at 144 Monovale Drive in Holmby Hills/California which became Beaulieu's residence while Elvis - in between tours - preferred to stay at his Hillcrest Rd, Beverly Hills house. Effectively their marriage was over in 1969 and they increasingly lived separate lives. They did try to get back closer together in 1970, for the sake of Lisa Marie, but that failed. By then, Beaulieu had started taking karate lessons at Ed Parker's karate studio and subsequently met Mike Stone, whom she'd first seen during a karate tournament in 1968, and soon began an affair with him.
By late 1971, Beaulieu and Stone (who had left his pregnant wife and child) shared an apartment in Belmont Shore and gossip rags were beginning to pick up on the break-up between Beaulieu and Elvis.
The separation was effective as of shortly before Elvis' 37th birthday, January 8, 1972. Elvis was livid and he moved on: started dating Linda Thompson in the summer of 1972. In August of 1972 a property settlement agreement was filed and he filed for divorce ON HIS 38TH BIRTHDAY, Jan. 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized on Oct. 9, 1973, FIFTY YEARS AGO THIS YEAR. Elvis had his attorneys add a special clause to their divorce decree stating she was not to use the name Presley for a career.
In interviews between the divorce and Elvis' death, Beaulieu described him as a has-been loser, absent/bad father and husband and adamantly stated she wanted to be known as Priscilla Beaulieu, to be her own person and that she was not Elvis Presley's property. In a 1973 interview with Ladies Home Journal she literally stated that there was "no possibility of a reconciliation with Elvis".
After his death, she claimed that they had agreed to get back together when he was 50 and she was 40 and that he was the love of her life. She also started claiming that she and Elvis remained friends until his death. That was another lie; just listen to what his cousin Billy Smith tells about that, or what his dad, Vernon, wrote about that in a letter that has been made public.
Elvis did not mention this opportunist in his will AT ALL. Not as his ex-spouse, not as the mother/guardian of his only child Lisa Marie and certainly not by name. After the divorce, and after Mike Stone, Beaulieu had (live-in) relationships with Mike Edwards, Robert Kardashian, Terry O'Neill, Elie Ezerzer and Kirk Kerkorian. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis.
It is extremely unfortunate that people believe all the fantasy tales Beaulieu tells. They gloss over the tons of inconsistencies that have arisen as time moved on and Beaulieu started changing her narrative, often contradicting supposed facts she told earlier. She's as glib as a used car salesperson because she can spin yarns like nobody, making those gullible people even believe her excuses for those contradictions.
If you really believe Beaulieu and her family would have acted the same way and would have been equally tolerant of his behavior (extramarital affairs etc) if Elvis had remained a truck driver learning to be an electrician, you are beyond naive. The Beaulieus had dollar signs in their eyes when they pimped out their rebellious (step)daughter.
Coppola purposely chose a girl the size of a pre-schooler to play Beaulieu and a 7 ft giant to play Elvis to accentuate the age difference in a visual way, too. The huge height difference subliminally makes people think "what is that adult doing with that child?" Very cheap methods. In real life, Elvis was 5'11" in bare feet and Beaulieu 5'2".

Very good information and what would expect from a young gold digger like Priscillla who lived in a gilded cage with tabloids as the source of her knowledge. Was she around when Elvis helped raise the seed money for St Jude Hospital by playing private shows for millionaires in Beverly Hills and when it was just a dream in Danny Thomas' head? I don't think so and a multitude of other things Elvis did to help people. Ultimately, I think she craved fame for herself and after building the 'Elvis brand' and making multiple millions of dollars she's now with this movie based on her book trying to burn the brand down.

GREAT REVIEW - Thanks. The movie is not out in Australia until January. I would note that the Baz Luhrmann movie was not a documentary, so he could be flexible with the facts for dramatic sake. HOWEVER he did checks across multiple sources to try and get the FACTS correct. This movie is 'Priscilla' and ONLY based upon her rather narcissistic view. The "Child Bride" book provides a rather different view. In the end IT SUCKS because Lisa Marie did not want the movie to be made - and asked her Mother not to be involved.
Lisa Marie wrote.. “My father only comes across as a predator and manipulative. As his daughter, I don’t read this and see any of my father in this character. I don’t read this and see my mother’s perspective of my father.
I am worried that my mother isn't seeing the nuance here or realizing the way in which Elvis will be perceived when this movie comes out.
I will be forced to be in a position where I will have to openly say how I feel about the film and go against you, my mother and this film publicly.”
Both messages were sent in September last year. Lisa Marie sadly passed away only four months later of cardiac arrest.
Sofia Coppola had yet to roll cameras on “Priscilla” when Lisa Marie reached out. This makes it all rather sad.
I bet Christmas dinner with Grandma at the Keough's will be quite emotional this year!

How she waited giving him the opportunity to beg her to stay, how she paused outside the door, how she seemed to feel as she was pulling out through the gates for, ultimately, the last time. I felt her pain and thought it was well re-enacted.

I saw the movie yesterday and overall I enjoyed it. Nothing shocking, no victims, it did not upset me, and I don't think it deserves all the negative hype. I thought it was a kind of coming of age movie about Priscilla, she's enthralled to meet and date her teenage crush, they both want to be with each other. Then she is able to move to Graceland, she tries to please Elvis, yet there is a lot of competition she faces for his time and attention. She spends a lot of time waiting for him, while he's away filming movies, then on concert tours. Eventually as she gets older she decides it's no longer how she wants to spend her life.

    • @depper
      @depper 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@anastasia_eptcb Yet the book TURNS OUT TO BE ABSOLUTELY TRUE! She lost because its still printed and it very effectively exposes her true mission to damage Elvis Presley and to self profit relentlessly.
When I first heard about the book, I questioned its authenticity. Then when I read the three pages or so of resources, I decided to read Child Bride.
Pieces of the Elvis and Priscilla puzzle I couldn’t put together before, suddenly began to fit.
Priscilla was a fan with a crush and a goal of marriage from the beginning. She wasn’t a child seduced by an adult male predator, but on a determined mission and her parents jumped on board and encouraged it. This is what PRISCILLA MAKES UP.
What has really convinced me that the book is true is what I am observing from Priscilla in the last ten years.
Actually, since the death of Elvis Presley, I have never seen an ex-wife take over like she has.
She is not a widow, they were divorced. It doesn’t matter whose fault it was, neither of them were without contribution, but the fact remains that they were divorced at Priscilla‘s request.
She could have made “saving” Graceland more about Elvis and Lisa Marie, and less about herself. There are other things that greatly concern me.
One of the big ones for me is how she cut off from Lisa Elvis’s family with the exception of one cousin.
When the Presleys moved from Tupelo to Memphis, Travis Smith and his wife and two sons came in the car with them. Travis was the brother of Gladys Presley.
One of his sons, Billy, is still living and well. Along with being Elvis‘s first cousin, he was considered by most of the Elvis entourage to be the one Elvis felt closest to. Yet he and his family have had no contact with Lisa Marie since Elvis died.
There are two step brothers, Billy and David Stanley, who grew up at Graceland. They lived with Elvis for 17 years and also had a close relationship with Lisa up until her dad died.
Lisa was just nine years old so she would have had no say in family ties. Anyone who knows anything about Elvis Presley, knows that he was all about family.
So this separation seems very strange and wrong. Then Lisa died, and none of those people I’ve just mentioned were invited to the memorial service. They watched online just like the rest of us. Then Priscilla learned that Lisa had changed her Will and taken her off as trustee of the estate, making her children Riley and Ben trustees instead, and leaving everything to her four children. It seems like a normal thing to do.
Yet Lisa’s service was hardly over before Priscilla began contesting the change. It seems horrible behavior for a mother and grandmother. And I state again, she is the ex-wife of Elvis Presley, not his widow. She says she wasn’t told about the change. I’m sure Lisa was smart enough to know that had she told her, it would have been a battle to the end.
I am concerned that Priscilla‘s goal is to dethrone Elvis and put herself there instead. The younger generation who were children or born after Elvis died are romanticizing and accepting whatever she says.
They will never get to know the real Elvis Presley. So as much as I would prefer to think otherwise, my sense is that the book is true and I take no pleasure in saying that.
As one of the Elvis era, my heart is broken. If you are truly loyal to the very compassionate, good, and talented man this music genius was, I encourage you to do some research, which includes reading this book, and making your own decisions.
If we don’t save the legitimate legacy of Elvis, he will soon not be known for anything but the person second to Priscilla and the man she creates him to be.
My intention in posting is to do what I can do to preserve the true legacy of Elvis Presley in the present day.

For all the viewers who are too young to appreciate the time period, you missed the best part of the movie. As a viewer from Elvis' generation I loved the very fine period portrayal. Wowing the clothes, the make-up, the scene usage, hair styles for both boys and girls. Try to put aside your shallow opinions about the characters. Priscilla is wise and formidable and with no formal education made Graceland one of the top historical homes in America. Blessings on her and condolences for her recent losses in her family.
