    As always, you shine a light on otherwise "mysterious" techniques! Thanks for all your hard work and teaching.
    I am getting ready to cast on my first double knitting project. The pattern design runs all the way to the edges of the scarf. Would you recommend casting on additional stitches to each side of the scarf to maintain the design? I'm concerned that the slipped stitches would alter the design.
    Thanks again,
    Kevin

    Suzanne, thank you for a great video. Right to the point, and so helpful. I cast on my first attempt today, but tossed it. Then I watched your invisible cast on, and now how to do the edge. If I could get my knitting with two hands more even I would be super happy. I believe like all knitting, the more I do it, the more it will even out.

    Thank you for another video. This technique certainly does link those edge stitches firmly together. I am stumped, though. The column of stitches next to the slipped ones (2nd column from the left edge) simply will not tighten up properly. It's while I am purling that it happens.

      @SuzanneBryan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes practice and watching exactly what you are doing in making the stitches. Some of the tricks that I show for tidy edge stitches will work here too. th-cam.com/video/Te4vdS4ri9M/w-d-xo.html

    i have tried this and noticed that when i started the edges were not joining together. Then I crossed like you did on second join but noticed you did not do this on first join. confused why you did one edge different then other??

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When there are two stitches remaining on the needle, slip the first one to the right needle, point to point, then bring the color forward that represents the last stitch, between the needles, then slip the last stitch point to point. Do the same at both edges.

  • @thetoothfairy7688
    @thetoothfairy7688 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why don’t you slip the stitch from the side fronting you knitwise? Let’s see if I got this right. I doubleknit with both strands in my left hand continental style. So I just do as I usually do with taking the yarn infront but then slip the stitch without using the strand and it will all hold together? The edge looks really nice! Thank you for these videos even if I get a little confused when you use both hands to hold the strands. ❤️

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you slip it knitwise, you will end up with a twisted stitch at that point. Yes, you got it. By leaving the knit stitch yarn to the back and the purl to the front, you are essentially crossing the two yarns which holds the edges together. happy knitting.

    If I start with a knit stitch, I end with a knit stitch. That way the border is the same on both sides, not one edge showing the back color and the other edge not.
