Unfortunately yes but it isn't surprising when it's Dave "COVID Conspiracy nutjob" Mustard stain era Megadeth.
The unfortu truth is FFDP are a bigger deal at this point than Megadeth.
FFDP will be opening for and touring with Metallica this year and next. Along with Ice Nine Kills and Mammoth MVH, at least in the US.

As a huge fan of Korn, I was trying to find a way to describe Requiem. Penance to Sorrow was the only song that really did anything for me but I couldn't really put a finger on what was missing, but I think you nailed it. It just sounds tired and lackluster, which really does make me sad

In my opinion, the PsychoSynner or Psychosexual or whatever tf albums are the worst albums of 2022. Probably the worst albums in general. They’re boring, irritating and overall pretty stupid but the worst part about one of these albums and the worst part about PsychoSexual in general is they ripped off Killing In The Name Of so blatantly that I’m waiting for RATM to sue them for plagiarism.
I'm hoping RATM and CCR join forces and create the ultimate Voltron of lawsuits to drop on Jeremy Spencer's front lawn.

Completely agree with your take on Nekrogoblikon. Party Cannon is also just a "silly, fun, band," but they always put a smile on my face in addition to being more than listenable.
I also thought Jeremy Spencer's Semi-Rotted would feel at home on this list.

Excellent video dude! Only one missing from my list is Darker Still from Parkway Drive. Architects and Parkway both are just falling off so hard right now. Architects was more surprising because I really liked the 2021 album. Also I didn't enjoy some songs off the MIW album this year but can't say the same for any other record here

I genuinely couldn't finish that Amon Amarth album. Every time I tried to listen to it, I would zone out completely and forget it was even playing.
Honestly I felt the same with my second time playing this album. I just got bored and zoned it.
I just realized that each time Psycho Synner has released albums, someone I knew died… I wish I was making that up.
I found "Requiem" to be just okay. "The Nothing" was just this huge black hole of explosive grief and despair, they couldn't possibly have followed up with more of the same. This was a healing album for them, and I respect that, even if it didn't leave me feeling anything special.
As for MiW, I really enjoyed that album, and it's on my best list for one simple reason: Catharsis. Yes, it's cheesy. Yes, it's cringe. But damn does it not strike a chord with me. Then again, I love Power Metal, so I love albums that are cheesy and somewhat cringe. Every song on the album had staying power for me, and considering all the shit that litters the modern political landscape, it feels good to have an album that's a sincere expression of how it feels being surrounded by that.
My worst album of the year is "Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum" by Alestorm. I like Alestorm, and as I said, I like stuff that's cheesy and fun. I liked the song P.A.R.T.Y. But everything else on the album felt like filler. They literally did a remix of Tortuga which was *less* interesting and *less* catchy than the original. I hate that album because it's lazy, to the point where they've said "our audience doesn't give a shit, so why should we?"
To quote Billy Maddison (the film, not the character): "Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul."
Other than that, great video :).

Say what you will about Amon Amarth’s new album, they absolutely kill live. Just saw them a few weeks ago and the show was incredible!
Honestly I left the Toronto show shortly after Carcass was done lmao. But I've seen them a couple other times in 2013 and 2019 and they were alright.

Psychosinner/sexual managed to make 12 albums in 3 years. All of them crap. That's actually impressive in a way. I only heard that "let the sin begin" song when it was new, nothing since. I'm almost tempted to listen to a new song or 2 to see how long before I tap out.

Architects’ album this year was a HUGE letdown, especially because they made probably their best album as a band only last year.

I'm not surprised with 5FDP going into this list. But I do sadly agree with you with the new Amon Amarth and Razor albums. I really wanted to liked them but then when I heard those albums, I was very disappointed. Where Amon Amarth just sounds boring and definitely didn't hype me up throughout the album, Razor did had some killer riffs and solos but the rest was just pretty stupid.

Mick Kenney from Anaal Nathrakh is actually the ghostwriter for motionless in white, so that might be the reason why the songwriting is in its core at least competently written

It's like I just saw Amon Amarth a few days ago, and it was a great show, but damn they don't play any of my favorite songs by them anymore Vs the World turned 20 this year and they didn't even play a song off of it.
Nekrogoblikon may be keen on the idea that in the modern music industry, the only way to get close to making money is through touring. I saw them live with Goatwhore and Gwar and they were fun. The music plays live, but I didn't bother with this year's release or the last one they put out.
I will always support hard touring bands, whether or not I'm a big fan of their music.
Well on a positive note; we had some really good releases from Paleface (Fear And Dagger), Plagues (Hell and Timeless) and Blood Butcher (Enter Blood Realm)
My worst of the year is expanded past metal, as while I listened to a LOT of music this year (663 albums according to Apple Music), there weren’t a whole lot of metal albums that were outright disappointing.
Honorable mention: Ghost - Impera. It’s not that bad of a record, but it’s also not good. Quite literally the only song I wasn’t bored by was Little Sunshine, and I found Twenties to be borderline edgy.
In no particular order:
Kid Rock - Whatever it was called (admittedly this one made me laugh multiple times)
MGK - Mainstream Sellout
Psycho Sinner - both of them
Motionless In White - Singing the Dark World or whatever it was
And finally, Panic At the Disco - Viva Las Vengeance. This has to date my only DNF stamp. I somehow suffered to the 4th track, where Brendon and a children’s choir sang “We are the new Dead Kennedys” and I got so offended I backed out. Psycho Sinner left me mentally scarred for a bit, but I at least finished those albums. Brendon Urie sucks.

But hey, if you want to hear very dated in a bad way Varped Tour-ask covers on Take Me Home Country Road, Before He Cheats, If I Die Young, Hurt and others...still don't listen to it, I did it for y'all. At best some of these covers are so incompetent and awful they are kinda funny
I hate that Excision one. Jeff is five years moaning about how he wants to go back to playing metal, he might as well do it (I don't think he will, Lost Lands always brings him fresh CASH) because his generic overproduced bombastic riddim was a one trick pony back in the 2010's and still is, minus the surprise effect and the originality. Now you see a riddim producer pop out everywhere you go.
Disturbed's Divisive and Slipknot's The End, So Far were also bad and it get's worse hearing them whine about cancel culture. It's thanks to them that I started calling it Boomer Metal and it sounds like FFDP and Jeremy Spencer sound like Boomers too lol, great video btw.
That Razor album would be the tits if Dave produced and mixed it differently. What a serious let down after 25 years.
To be fair, I didn't really like Nekro's new album the first listen, but after listening to it a couple times, it kinda grew on me.
Slipknots new album was kind of a disappointment. They're 2019 album 'we are not your kind' was such a good album despite 2 albums before not hitting that hard, and they're 2021 single the chapel town rag was actully rlly good and brought me back to theyre self titled era. I'm kinda sad that the new album wasn't good cause it was one that was so anticipated and awaited for

2 albums before WANYK was All Hope Is Gone, which was _very_ heavy hitting. They were experimenting with death metal on that album.
@@metalswifty23 this is just my personal opinion cause it defers with different ppl but Ik alot of people felt the image of “old slipknot” was going away after vol 3, but with every band that goes on for longer than 10-20 yrs, it’s know that stuff is gnna change or get more experimental music and image wise
They’re gritty, and mysterious imagine is what made ppl like them sm and after that imagine began to fade away, ppl didn’t appreciate it much
@@twistedmoth All that really changed is that they got older and more experienced, so they could take on albums in a different way. AHIG, imo, is right up there with Iowa, both as intense as the other, but just in different ways, and it was from the era of the band that still had Joey and Paul around. Everything that came after AHIG (which came out in 2008 btw) has been lacking the essence of what Slipknot is (or was), but certainly not AHIG itself.
I love youtube because out of the blue a few weeks ago I see in my video feed Alvin and the Chipmunks FFDP, some "welcome to the circus" song, and it really did make me laugh.

Razor's singer was recently in the news. He apparently witnessed a fiery car accident where someone was killed and has filed a civil suit for over a million $ claiming to have ptsd because of it. Says he gets triggered by fire and flames and has depression and lost his job. I wonder if he gets triggered by the cover of his album or singing the first song "flames of hatred". The guy has always been a go-nowhere and saw his chance to cash in. Absolutely zero shame so yeah, of course they put out a piss poor album with a drum machine.

Out of curiosity, but as far as Thrash is concerned and you wondering where is the good Thrash, have you checked out Pursuit?
They had their debut album out this year and I found it pretty excellent compared to a good chunk of Thrash.
Okay, I’ve gotta disagree with Requiem. It’s not Korn’s best album, but it’s definitely one of the better late-career releases and it’s got a few top-tier Korn songs. There was far, FAR worse that could’ve made the list in my opinion. It’s not even the worst Korn album from this year, that belongs to Chaoseum.

I feel You about Nekrogoblikon. It´s just not funny. And there´s nothing more sad, than people trying to be funny, but failing at it.
If You want funny stuff, over the top, more brutal at times, more daring stylistically (I mean, who else mixes Grindcore with Disco and Jazz?), more corny, more cringe, but in a fun way and above all way more musically proficient - Check Clown Core. Now that´s funny.
The new Iced Earth is pretty bad. Its just some old songs but no singing, just Jon talking out the lyrics.

The Great Heathen Army actually really opened up, to me. "The Serpent's Tail" is just one of their best songs, and the whole album is just fun.

If I had to put together a list of the worst metal albums of all time, it would all be albums by Psycho Synner along with Torch the Faith. I truly believe we have witnessed the birth of the worst metal band to ever exist.

Korn was one of the bands that got me into metal when i was just a kid in the 90's/early 2000's and i still enjoy listening to their 1st 6 albums but after their 6th album i feel like they started to become more meh.

Kreator was my biggest disappointment of 2022. It was just weak, boring and lacking in the punch and grit I want from Kreator.

Its good minus Lost In The Grandeur. I saw them in 2022 and Helmet opened up for them. KoRn still sounds really good live!
I think the most disappointing album of the year for me was the new Lost Society album. They stripped away everything great about their sound and decided to go for the radio metal sound. I'm not upset at them evolving and changing, I just don't like where they're going.

I agree the new Korn album was generic and sounded like B tracks from The Nothing, but it definitely had some good bangers on there and certainly wasn't INSULTINGLY bad, so I definitely disagree with you on that.
I personally believe that AfterLife, Darker Still, and Architects’s album (forgive me i forget the name) are all phenomenal but that’s just my opinion

Requiem is an amazing album , felt those optimistic touches , the grooviness was there , the heaviness , extremely catchy choruses n hooks - and the best Damn track - “worst is on its way “ with that chorus and the scatting breakdown bridge Fuck I love this album !

Motionless In White make me sad. After Creatures they have disappointed with pretty much every record. They have a couple of good tracks off of each record that are always drowned out by cringe incarnate.

No disagreement. Nice to see someone being honest about Amon Amarth. This is a band that has me confused. It's not their music that is confusing, as its simplistic, boring and sounds like Amon Amarth from all previous albums but how this band became as popular as they have. The most innovation and growth I have seen from this band isnt even from the band, it's their fans. Whoever started the Viking Ship Row Boat pit really thought outside the box and was quite clever interpreting via runes I'm sure, the interaction bands and fans share in the live setting to literally just sit down and start pretending to row up shit creek with invisible paddles.What would be more entertaining to see would be the rowers face the opposite direction to attempt a get away at sea(?)from the redundancy and boredom an Amon Amarth album or gig can bring.

So, in the sports parlance, Jeremy Spencer is a 3-peat champion of the worst metal album of the year on The Metal Meltdown.
I know I have to listen to it at some point and make up my own mind about it, but I'm just so bummed out by what nearly *everyone* has said about that new Razor record that I haven't tried yet. They're the local classic thrash band that means the most to me. Although the last album they did in the 90s wasn't really awesome either, and the last two or three times I saw them live, they didn't quite kick my butt the way they once did -- so maybe the writing was on teh wall.
Honestly, don't bother. Go blast Evil Invaders instead.

Sad to hear the Razor album is a letdown. Haven't had the chance to check it out because I've been eating up the death metal releases like I'm at a riff buffet instead. Haven't heard any of these but most of them seem bad indeed
You're not missing much at all, chow down on that death metal for as long as you can. Been a great year for the genre.
For me the worst album of the year and my biggest dissapointment is Thornhill - Heroine. Like The Dark Pool was great, atmospheric, synths, riffs for days, drums that are creative and a singer that SOARS over the track... Heroine is so formulaic, squared, the mix is weird and the vocals are just BURIED IN MUD, and the drums are like meh... I saw a story before the release saying that "Its darker than the Dark Pool and heavier" and I was like "Ok, those are corporate buzz words but I am interested" and then the singles were from bad to worse and the album is just a mess...
Like, literally hear a song like "Where do We go when We Die" or "Lily and the Moon" and then compare that to "Casanova" or "Hollywood" how is this the same band? What the fuck happened? We traded a great metalcore album for Muse, and not even good muse...
I feel like slipknot new album is kind of a big let down for me. I personally think they peaked on volume 3.

If you want red white and boom. Without the cringe, Then listen to Protest The hero's palimpheset album. (Idk how you spell it but you get what i mean) it's a far better produced and put together album. Favorite song ( fireside).
I can give you a multiple albums that dose everything "scoring the end of the world", but better. Werewolf was okay. The synths where boring and uneventful and the guiter the chorus was supposed to be this dramatic thing but it it didn't live up. As synth head i was offeneded by the synths. Listed to "Undead" by D.notive or Night At the Grindhouse pt 1 and 2.

I am surprised Silver Scream 2 isn't here. Alot of people really didn't like the more "theatrical" feeling and people for some reason don't like Assault and Batteries

Razor's comeback was quite painful for me. Except maybe for Decibels, all their other albums are top tier thrash, and I've been waiting almost literally all my life for a new Razor album only to be this... bland. It hurts me to say this, but Dave Carlo and co. should have called it quits long ago.
Speaking of newer thrash, if you haven't listened to Nekromantheon's latest, you're missing out on something great.

i cant believe psycho synner is a thing, the sad thing about FFDP and Ivan Moody i thought what he did in Motograter was pretty good, nothing special but it was good nu metal and now he is doing five finger death punch, Motograter were so much better imo
I thought the new Amon Amarth album was pretty good, but I 100% see all of your points. However I thought it was a lot better than Berserker.

Slipknot and Megdeth were actually really good, no need to include 'em. Admittedly wasn't huge on Behemoth but its not horrible per say.
