One of my very best friends (Lance) came with me and Shaun to Moab Utah for Easter Jeep Safari. We had a day to ourselves while Shaun was out driving Jeep Concept Cars..so we wanted to do a proper Rock Crawling Trail. We wound up driving this trail for about 9 hours (we went slow, filmed, and just enjoyed ourselves)..and it was one of my most favorite days on the trail ever. Period. I now get why folks love Rock Crawling and Rock Landing. I got to know my Jeep much better, and understand what it's capable of, and we had the entire trail to ourselves all day long..it was just awesome. I ALSO had a full on anxiety/panic attack while flying the drone. I misjudged the lookout ledge and when I flew my drone over the edge, I got vertigo and an anxiety attack..something that's never happened to me before. We then had to drive a ledge road that pitched into the cliff...and I was very glad when we turned away from the ledge. But hey, what's a day on the trail without a little drama??

This trail showed my why Rock Crawling is a total blast...even if it does cause the occasional panic attack! Join my Patreon Community here: www.patreon.com/venture2roam
As a patreon I will vouch that Will is always posting and gives us 1st dibs on stuff he is selling. So if your on the fence about supporting the channel I say do it.
The most real/down to earth Moab video I’ve seen. No shame in it, love this! Lots of us have done the logging roads and even some trails, and when on this type of terrain, I’m sure a lot of us would feel the same way. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Excellent video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, I take that as a massive compliment. Not that I don't like a little drama in my vids..but my approach is exactly what you said..a down to earth perspective. So glad you enjoyed it!
Couldn't agree more to this post, truly amazing to watch!
amazing work! love the quality of the filming and the music is so on point! 100K by end of the year. I see it coming!
Let's go 100K!!!!!! LOL. Thank you so much!
Great video. Loved the “Lance being Lance”. Lol. Really made me miss Moab. And I really like showing the clip of next video at the end.
There's really no other way to describe Lance! I actually tried recording a few descriptions..and settled on Lance is just...Lance! He's the best. Great feedback on the preview section at the end of the vid. Might keep trying that.
Anxiety attacks can hit at the worst times. This video was real and down to earth and oh yeah loved the music choice. Little Pantera was a great wake up
Thank you! To get better at something you have to be OK not looking like a pro from day 1..and let's face it...I'm not really a pro at anything lol.
Great video. Enjoyed watching your experience. Wonderful editing!
Right on! Thank you!!
Going to Moab with you and leading you on some harder trails is now on my wish list. lolol.
Let’s gooooo
Love the content. I can’t wait to get out west and start hitting those trails and see them first hand !
You're going to have a blast when you get out here!
Just got back. Had a blast!
Tip: If you approach the bigger ledges at a 45° Angle instead of head-on, you can get a tire up and turn into it to get the 2nd tire on, then square up on the obstacle. Approaching head on limits your options. Especially for Lance/Bronco, since his winch sticks out so far.
PS..if you don't like heights stay away from Top of The World trail. 😅
See that's a great tip from someone who has experience...next time I'll try that...and by next time I mean tomorrow morning because I'm going to out film another crawling video in the Owhyees :)
Fantastic video!
I am terrified of heights and I would have been very sick after that experience at the edge. Especially driving and not seeing the edge, Yikes!
Awesome editing and commentary, you're a natural at it.
Cheers from Canada!
Thank you so much! Ya that caught me off guard…lesson learned!
Great video. Seems like every video with a Bronco Raptor and 392 Wrangler just constantly compares the two against each other. Great to see a video of these two beasts just doing their thing.
I mean...they are both incredible vehicles...seems like we should just let them do their thing and not worry about too much comparison. Lots more coming with these to rigs on the trail together. I'm sure we'll compare some stuff..but only for fun.
Great video! Glad to see big tires being put to use. I often see these jeeps on 37s mallcrawling everywhere with no scratches while I am doing metal masher in my Lexus GX460 on 32s
😂😂 nothing against Mallcrawlers, some of them look really cool, but I prefer to let the Jeeps eat!!! Thanks for watching.
I feel the same way about heights. I literally get sick and cant move. Fighting it every chance i get and make myself do it.
It was a strange moment for me…nice to know I’m not alone!
Metal masher is great. The view above the highway is a great reason to run that one.
Unless you have a panic attack while looking over the edge lol. Seriously though that view was incredible.
Love the total honesty in this one. Looked like a lot of fun. Getting me so stoked for our first EVER Utah trip. It's been on my bucket list since I was young. SO many trails to choose from, I'm having a difficult time choosing what to do with our limited time. They ALL look epic.
You will love Utah, it’s like a different planet out there! So glad you like the vid, thanks you so much for watching!
Came for the Moab, stayed for the Pantera
lol Yes!
It’s always nice when your vehicle is way more capable then you realize. You took your bumper ends off for better approach but you didn’t take advantage of it, by hitting the approach on a slight angle.
Ya someone else pointed that out too..I love it when I learn something from the comments..I’ll be trying that out next time!
Love that trail! We did it when it was wet, and it was a lot of fun. We'll have to return soon. Great video!
Thank you!! Did you have traction issues when it was wet.
@Venture2Roam Not too much, but it did make us take bypasses. There was mud at the bottom of that first obstacle. Slipped in it while trying to take some video.
Good for you guys-great video. cheers, lefty
Thank you!!
21:22 I get the same way on narrow switch backs here in AZ. You’re good, then you look over a ledge and you feel the blood rush out of your head lol. I have to remind myself it’s ok and take a deep breath.
Ya…I had to figure out how to get myself through it…what an amazing experience.
This was fantastic. I've seen you and your Jeep in the TSTN videos, so it was nice to see this land in my feed. I imagine many of us get the same feelings you had near the cliff here, and it's refreshing to see someone else be honest about it. Also - thank you for the time and effort in licensing some great tunes for the soundtrack. It's nice (and unexpected) to hear a bit of Pantera and Twenty One Pilots instead of the same royalty free stuff on the other channels!
Thanks for the great comment..I'm glad that this showed up in your feed too! I couldn't help myself with the Pantera and 21 pilots...those songs just fit so nicely IMO. So glad you gave it a watch!!
Great video! This trail is now on my list to check out next time I’m in Moab.
It really should be. It was run and scenic...we loved it.
What a great video the Jeep is a beast. That is a tough route thanks for sharing
The 392 has been a fun build..still need a few more things, but I’m really happy with it so far. Thanks for watching!!
Excellent video. Felt like I was there with you. You did the trip with an appropriate amount of caution, which is how I would have done it. Loved the video and I just subscribed.
Yes! Thank you for subscribing!!!
There are A LOT of trails around Moab that have that unmarked cliff ledge that demand you pay full attention to where you are going.
Public Service Announcement! Beware of Moab Ledges! 😂 you can bet it’s on my mind from here on out.
Great job Will ..!
Thank you!!!!
This is kinda why I'm more toward overlanding like you, I will always enjoy rocking crawling, but in bits and pieces, and no terrifying cliffs lol, is good for me
😂 Ya, the learning process has been really fun, but I’m still an overlander at heart.
What a great video, Stunning footage and views, and loved that you walked us through this trail from the perspective of a bit of a novice on this style of trail. Definitly appreciated and different from some of the channels where everything is extreme from the trails to the rigs.
Right on, so glad you liked it. I enjoy showing a little different perspective on things..don't always need to be the best at everything..if you want to learn something new, you have to be OK with looking dumb while learning :)
Awesome video. it is nice seeing the normal driver with a rig that is more along the lines of your everyday off roader. I have done that trail and I agree it is awesome and the views, oh the views!
Thank you! And I'm glad my perspective is entertaining...It's fun to go learn new stuff..and I like showing that not everyone who makes an offroad video is a flawless driver lol.
Great video. That trail is a little too extreme for me but glad there are folks who enjoy doing it. Enjoyed watching. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching! I had a blast and understand now why people do it…but I also understand why people don lol!
Scary
Yeah I totally understand your panic! I solo travel in my FJ Cruiser and Moab was terrifyingly.
I'm glad you can relate...it caught me totally off guard and took me a while to get over...crazy how things can change in an instant.
I can totally understand your reaction at the cliff. I have a similar reaction at times and I even cringed seeing your video. By the way congratulations on escaping the office. I just handed in my retirement notice with plans for touring and writing articles. A great lifestyle change
Thank you!!! Ya that ledge caught me off guard and I had to figure out how to get through it. It was a difficult moment for me.
In my younger years I spent some time riding mountain bikes in MOAB. One of my favorite trails was Porcupine Rim. this was a great video! Hope to run into you wither in town or out on a drive some day. 208
I bet Moab is a crazy place to mountain bike!! If you ever see me in town or on the trail, please come by and say hi!
I can understand the ledge feeling. You tell yourself it's no big deal, but, when you get there, the feeling of how close you are to going over, can mess with your head.
100%. It caught me totally off guard. I've been on a bunch of ledge roads...but this one hit like a ton of bricks. No idea if it was just that moment or if I have a new thing to deal with lol.
Man that looked epic! I’m with you dude, heights are not my favorite at all as you well know lol
Next time if we're there together we can start a little support group!
@@Venture2Roam lol sounds good
That trail is still on my bucket list. Good job. Watching your content I wondered how long it would be before you tried rock crawling. We've got some cool stuff here in Az you'd love. I really loved the video and congrats on doing YT full time!
Thank you so much!! We did a little bit of that in Sedona a few years ago..had a great time and really fell in love with the area. We'll definitely be back out that way.
I’ve seen ever off road channel on TH-cam. The quality here is phenomenal. Maybe best in class or second only in scale alone to @xoverland.
You deserve sponsors and support. This literally is amazing. I’m a former photographer. Great job!
Wow that is very high praise, and I take it to heart. Thank you!
You showing excellent video of a venture in the Moab region (weeks back) with a group, on a challenging route. I guess if one has the tires, lift & drivers know how, it all works out. Good job and thanks. Myself, we were in Canyonlands Maze area (DH# 3) April 25-27, the other party a 96, 80 Series Land Cruiser, 4 inch lift & 35 inch tires. Her husband Dan, asked by Greg Milller to leave NM , years back, & help set up the Toyota Land Cruiser museum, where he now works. Sarah was at the Moab Cruiser fest for 5 days before joining us in Green River, & then our (next day) 8 hour drive to our camp site, Four of us, cool temps & some rain -we saw a lot in our hiking. We exited via Hite (route) got to Hanksville (sway bar problems) and then back to GR (late). Days later the flashing sway bar light was fixed - dirt, debris, water on the connectors. No drones allowed where we were, you, are skillful in your artful rendition of your travels. I'm happy you survived & didn't have a 'real anxiety attack'.
Ya I'd put this in the panic attack vs anxiety attack. I didn't feel like I was having a heart attack or anything like that..but it was pure panic for the first time I can remember and I've been on lots of high ledge roads...this one just got me for some reason. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip!!!! Thanks for watching and leaving such a great comment.
This was totally AWESOME to watch! Bucket list trail for me 💯 Nicely done Will..! 👊🏼🙏🏼👏🏼😄
Dude would love to wheel with you in Moab someday!
@@Venture2Roam 💯 as an FYI, high likelihood of me coming to Idaho this year for family. 👊🏼
By far one of the best wheeling videos we've seen in a while. Making us want to explore further 👌🏻 Our trailer would make it up that trail right? 😅
it's a 7/10 for Jeeps...so that translates to like.....17/10 for a tear drop :). Thanks guys, always good to see you in the comments. Keep up the great vids.
Excellent wheelin
Thank you, we had an absolute blast..one of my favorite days ever.
That 392 sounds good 👍🏻
Thank you! I worked hard to get the sound edit right on this one...hoping to dail in those V8 sounds this year.
Great video, keep on posting please!
You got it!!!
Little advice on the wall climbs. Hit them at a slight angle and not straight on like you were.
Yes thank you. A few others pointed that out too. Every time we go out, we learn something new. Thanks for the pointer!
im not from moab but i spent so many years there in my jeep... its a long hike from the pnw and totally worth it.
I agree. I'm thinking of making it an annual thing. We had such a blast down there.
Another really nice video! Your narration is great, easy listening and the video/edit👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you!!
Well Done !!! What a great video to kick off you going full time ! I can relate to getting the vertigo, happened to me last time going down Shafer switchbacks. Not fun. 😅 Best of luck
Thank you so much! Ya the vertigo really caught me off guard. I’m glad Lance was there to talk me through it!
I have been all over Idahos backroads and backcountry driving and hiking. Most of it when I was younger. I have never liked heights, always got my nerves up I kept my distance from the edge and tried to limit looking over. I would look out rather than down. For work I have climbed several stories on scaffolding I have climbed 100 foot grain silos with out climbing cages or safety gear. However the older I get the more it gets to me and the harder it becomes to overcome it. The idea of driving the trails around Moab is exciting to me however I know I would freeze up on so many of the ledge roads and knife edge ridges.
Thanks for sharing this!
😆😆 @13:08 "I can see everyone else's mid life crisis rolling around as well." This hit too close to home. hahaha
😂😂✌🏻
The challenge is to know how far you can go without damaging the rig. Someday I will talk the wife in heading back to Moab. Great trail but not for me.
Great point. We did take some trail damage on this..but nothing serious...just skid plates and a smashed bumper guard on my front bumper. But I have to tell you...it really wasn't that hard..that slickrock is incredible to drive on.
Trail rating of 7 or greater will cause some trail damage. Hopefully not cause your rig non-drivable, but you are guaranteed to some scars & damage to your vehicle
💪💪💪💪 Great JOB!!!!
Thank you so much!!
THIS IS AWESOME Will !!!!!! This will be ME when Me and my 'YOTA get out there in Oct. LOL ..NOT going out there to do the HARD SHIT.. (I Need to drive it back to VT. !!!! ) WELL DONE !!!!!!😄😄😄😄😄😄
Right on, you’ll have a blast and there’s plenty of trails your Yota will eat up.
@@Venture2Roam OH FOR SURE !!! Just worried i MAY get in over my head from the excitement of being in the moment !!!! ..LOL.🤣
That Bronco has no business being on a trail with the superior Wrangler 392!
Great video!!
😂😂😂 Don’t get Lance started on that!!
@@Venture2Roam 🤣 I do like the Broncos but figured I would try to stir the pot for the sake of the algorithm!
HEY!!!! I just ran into this comment! Hahahaha!!!! You are correct the 392 is superior on this trail but don’t be confused THE BRAPTOR CAN EAT!!!!! I love this Rig!!!!!!
@@AngerManagementOverlandBroncos are cool....perfect for the wife! 🥄🪣
@@StlrNtn95 if your wife is a badass off-roader.
I completely agree with your comments at the beginning of the video. For me, just getting out and seeing the landscape via a BLM road is as rewarding as conquering an eight rated trail..
I'm still pursuing rock crawling to keep learning more about it..and I'm really enjoying myself..but my opinion hasn't changed...I still hunt epic locations over epic obstacles...but I get it now...rock crawling is a different type of fun, but it's still fun.
Will. If that trail gave you butterflies, don't come do Black Bear... Dare..!!
If they open it this year, that is...
I want to do Black Bear...but ya..I don't know maybe I have a thing with heights that I didn't know about until this trail..only one way to find out!!!
@@Venture2Roam let me know when. I'm ready when you are..!! I live in Montrose.. Would love to show you more trails in the area. You would love mineral creek out of Ouray Up to Engineer Pass.
I know what you mean I got vertigo at island in the sky in canyonlands it happens
Ya it was strange and caught me off guard..nice to hear I’m not alone, although I would such that feeling on anyone.
Awesome video dude! What device do you use to record the radio conversation? I’m looking to do the same thing with my ham radio and 1/4” jack. I love it!!!
Right on, thank you! I use an Icom 52A. It has an SD card slot and can record directly to it. Love it.
@@Venture2Roam that’s awesome dude. Thanks for the reply! I’m trying to figure out how to do the same thing but I don’t think my Kenwood has the same feature. - Geoff
You should of invited Rory from Trailmater
We saw him on the trail the next day!
Nice! Where did you end up staying? My Brother and his Wife built an Epic Jeeping specific VRBO there
In a neighborhood out by the KOA…it was a great house for us for the week. Thinking of making it an annual thing.
Another great video! Especially since I’ll be taking my 392 out on the Moab trails in a few weeks! What size lift is that MC lift? 3.5?
Yep. 3.5 MC Gamechanger. It was fantastic for Moab. The next vid is on Hells Revenge - and the 392 ate it up.
Yeah that’s what I figured. Great lift! Can’t wait til your next Video! Glad you were able to quit your JOB for your true PURPOSE. Wishing you all the best from NOCO! BTW loved the Pantera choice…despite what my wife said lol
@@MrRjezonie LOL...I had to do Pantera...I mean with a name like Metal Masher it was begging for it...it's a classic.
Isn’t that jeep a 392 on 37’s? Um ya, you are fearless? Just kidding because if it ever gets un intimidating you need a new hobby. But what I think you proved is that you could have saved a lot of money in vehicle and fuel to do what you’ve done prior, tool or toy? That is the question. I’ve had several toys that needed to be welded on the trail to get home and I soon joined the tool camp. Well done!
More like FearFULL 😂🙌. JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket. Great comment on tool vs toy. I’m probably somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
Ole Will quit his job and picked up rock crawling… I love it! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
LOL. I mean..all the cool kids are doing it so I had to jump in!
Dude… epic. I respect your sincerity as to the emotion and the real anxiety that the edge can produce. This… this right here… makes me so happy to see you making videos like this now that you’re full time. Cause if you can produce this kinda quality, your future is looking incredible. I’m just glad I’m along for the ride. Well done, bro!
Thank you so much!! It was Amazing to have so much time and mindspace on this edit! More coming soon!!
I wonder if this is going to give you more confidence on your overlanding trips.
I subscribed awhile back so I can't help you with that. But what a good trip that shows what a Wrangler and Bronco for that matter is capable of. I have never tried that kind of trail but have gone off road similar to overlanding. Every time I go out I have more confidence in myself and my Jeep. Thanks for taking me along on this ride.
Great comment thanks for sharing!
Great video. Other midlife crises rolling around 😂😂
😂😂🤷♂️. Moab is a magnet for a mid life crisis!
Excellent driving Will!
Thank you sir...warming up for the Rubicon.
Godbless
So cool!! I wish one day to come to Moab and do that !!
When you do, you’ll have a blast!!
Duuuuuude.... Im getting a panic attack just watching!
😂😂😂. Ya it was a hard section to edit because I kept remembering that feeling!
Fantastic video! Fantastic music choices!
Right on, so glad to hear you liked it.
Awesome stuff!!! Great video!
Thank you!!!
Nice job
Thank you!!
Love the honesty of this video. It’s like we are all there with you going through the same thing 🤘
Thank you!!
I know you're an overlander but, of all your videos that I've seen, this is my favorite. Keep it up!
Thank you! I'm trying to branch out and having a blast doing it. So glad to hear you liked this one!
Whoa the pucker factor was strong near that ledge. I felt it. Great video and some epic views.
Ya - it was a new experience for me...never really had major issues with heights..but that one caught me off guard!
Has a 392 on 37s and has a panic attack on a mild trail? LOL get some 33s and stick to the dirt roads.
They are 38s...sooooo....
