Something I found yesterday when slicking edges on a belt I am making is that after slicking the edges I went back over the edges with 1500 grit sandpaper and once the grittiness of the sandpaper wore down the actual paper backing slicked the edges even more leaving a glossy slick. Don’t know sandpaper could do that. Thanks Don for the awesome info. Been watching and learning from your videos for 7 years.
@HairTriggerLeather yes, I wet and sand. Then buff with canvas. It's then shiny. I apply tokonole, rub in with finger, it becomes dull. I then try canvas and slicker, still dull.
It should be pretty shiny. My process involves several steps with the final 2 steps being tokonole and the the canvas. I edge, sand, water, glycerine soap, wooden slicker, and dye first.
Nice tips Don.
Great process for prepping a canvas rag!
Thank you!🙋🏼♀️

Awesome, thank you.
Have been using canvas drop cloth from harbour freight pretty well, cost effective
Thanks
I’m actually just now learning and I was curious how to use the canvas
Hi Don, can you use shoe canvas? Love your videos.
I got my canvas from Joann's fabrics
A canvas painters dropcloth is a cheap way to get some too
I cant get tokonole to shine
Did you wet and sand the edges? Before using tokonole

@HairTriggerLeather I'm looking into Don's method now or wax and heat with birnishing
This really works, folks!
