I am so happy that you took the time to explain this. I've never used a pressure washer, and I finally purchased one. I had serious issues with the air built up in the hose. I am a single woman over 50 and had no idea what I was/am doing. Now that I finally located your video, (not easy to find online). Maybe because other users know what they're doing. 😂 Thanks so much.

Ditto Carol. 50 something single woman playing with a pressure washer. After the water hose connection on the tap came loose I couldn't get the thing to work again properly, thought I killed it 🤣. Thank you Aaron!

Great explanation. Here’s what I’ve done to minimize the time spent running air through my machine: I installed a quarter-turn shutoff valve at the end of my water hose, so I turn on my water and run all air out of water hose, then I shut off water with quarter-turn valve at hose end. Then I just attach water hose to pressure washer, open quarter turn valve, then I bleed air through pressure washer / hose before attaching wand assembly - this procedure moves the air out very quickly.

UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust th-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

I was looking for a video on my power washer to help me tare it down and try to fix it ,but luckily for me and my machine I found this video instead. I won't hesitate to go to wrenching on it but I'm going to try your idea first. I didn't know it could take that long to purge. Thank you you may have saved me and my machine.

Man, you helped me feel better about my pressure washer. I was having the same problem. I always let the water just flow through the line before I use it but this time I guess I did not do it enough and it would not pressurize. I am going to try this again, but this time thoroughly water the lawn first. Thanks

Wow, Alinsdau! You just saved me buying a new pump for pressure washer I use on top of my Dock. I attached a Y connector to the Pressure Washer let the air bleed out then turned it off and opened up the one connected to washer. Instant pressure! Appreciate you man!

@RoamingShark Came across this video last year and it saved me from buying a new pressure washer because I thought the pump was crap. My problem is having patience to stand there for five minutes every time I use it (100 ft hose). Your Y connector suggest is "Gold". Just ordered one from Amazon.

Question..Forgive my understanding here. How are you purging the air from one side? It seems like it's open(with nothing connected to it) than turned off. Meanwhile the water source is connected to the other side and is just waiting to be turned on. Another question..does limiting the pass thru from a 3/4 inch hose thru the smaller valve ball reduce the amount of water (GPM)going to the washer itself? Thanks.

Nice vid. Thanks. I will mention that I've found that my older gas powered pressure washer has trouble starting with full water pressure, so I had to do it a little differently. I run the hose to release the air , then with water running and air relieved, I loosely attach the hose to the unit, start the motor and then tighten the hose fully. This works great for me. Again, thanks!

Can't be stressed enough that all air must be purged before putting on a pressure tip. I like to put the feed hose on loosely, turn on the water at the house and back the hose nut off as far as I can with out it coming off to purge most of the air from the feed hose. Depending on how long your feed hose is it can save 5 -10 minutes evacuating the air. Take the time it takes to do it right and the unit will last a long time. Great video.

The machine is brand new, and you helped me learn how to troubleshoot it. It primed, but still wouldn't work when I attached the wand. The reason was that the person I had loaned it to returned it with the tip clogged and the coupler seized up with gravel. At least it didn't cost me any $$$. Thanks!

Right on the money! I always flush water through the washer for about a minute to make sure that the pump is filled with water before I power it up. However, sometimes that's not enough and air bubble is still there when I use a 100' hose. If I experience a pressure drop and the pump reving like in this video, I power off the washer and flush more.

Here's a trick I've found that eliminates most of the air problem: add a hose shut-off valve to the end of the hose that goes into the washer, and turn it to shut before removing the hose (and I also have a quick release connection that goes between the valve and the washer). That way, the water doesn't squirt all over the place when the hose is removed, and there's hardly any air in the hose when you go to reconnect the hose.

Great informative video. I had this problem yesterday and was trying to think of a better way to remove air. What if we put a ball valve on the end of the hose, ran the hose until there’s a solid steam, then close the valve. Hook up the other end to the washer, and open the valve to feed the air free water!

Hey man thanks for the video I’m going to try this tomorrow because I’m having a problem with my robi 1800 and it’s new. Would it matter that I have a 8 foot hose going from the pressure washer to a 50 ft hose reel.

Yes, I've run the hose but still end up with some air for a while in the compressor.

Oh,.. I've been running the water forever! I feel like what you discussed is my problem. I didn't read the instructions correctly at first and ran the water for a minute after i connected it (i thought to make sure the water really ran through) instead of before, and i'm sure totally got a lot of air in the machine. I bet I have run the water (without the power washer motor running) for atleast 30min total now if not more and still the same pressure when I turn on the machine. Am I missing something? Any other tips before I return it?

    • @ALinsdau

30 minutes sounds too long unless you have a leak in your supply hose.

Hi Aaron, I am a little confused. Do you "water the lawn" with pump on or off. In the video you showed both ways. The problem I am having is similar but a little different. The motor will come on and the 1st few seconds after pulling the trigger will be high pressure and then only a single tiny stream. When I release the trigger the pump seems to build up pressure and the same thing happens.

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  ปีที่แล้ว

Water the lawn with the pump off until all the air clears, then turn it on.

Is it on a 15amp circuit? Do you have other items on that circuit? Best to consult a licensed electrician - that doesn't sound good/safe.

If there's a tiny bit of air, that might change it. But there's probably a governor in there to prevent damage.
