    Worth a mention that this is an OBD 1 B16. With OBD 2, you have a crank sensor, and harness clip to mess with if you're transferring over.

    I would think you wouldn’t have to put RTV on the small upper area where the O-ring is… Kind of like you don’t/shouldn’t ever use RTV on an Honda water pump cause the O-ring seals it just fine. The O-ring is there for reason. Or does the manual call for it around the o-ring in this oil pump case?

      If your surfaces are clean and flat than you should be good! I only do it for added peace of mind and only use Hondabond rtv. It has helped me fix some leaks in the past before! And I haven't had any leaks yet using it!

      I just put mine on and was contemplating the same thing I put it on to start then thought about it and about the water pump not having any wiped it off and threw the pump on hopefully I made right choice but idk Honda bond would of been just extra protection and piece of mind probably

      @@nathandornn7891 you know, I did the same and now I am wondering if I should take the oil pump off, clean all the honda bond and redo the whole process to add around the O ring. @ kraftingkars any advice?

    Do you need to prime the oil pump on these cars before starting them, after replacing the oil pump?

      Before your first start unplug your fuel injectors and crank the engine over until you start getting some oil pressure, then your good to go

    So if I wanted to just replace the crankshaft seal without replacing the oil pump, can I do it without removing the oil pump?

      Yep, just need a pick tool/seal puller tool! One thing I've done to swap them out in the past is screw a little self tapper into the face of the seal, then pull on the head of the screw with a plyers and it pops right out.

      @@kraftingkars I got it out using combi technique of drilling tiny holes, screwing in metal screw, pulling on it several places, finally got it loose

    What is your oil pressure at idle? Mine is dropping to 10 or maybe a bit lower at idle and I am concerned. I'll hit 80 when the vtec kicks in but don't want to cause serious problems with lack of oil at idle

      10 is ok at idle, a good rule of thumb is you want 10psi per 1,000 rpm. What oil do you run. I recommend motul 10w-40

      ​​@@kraftingkars10psi is not enough at idle. Honda states 14psi is the minimum oil pressure you should ever have. I'm changing my acl pump back to an oem one because I'm having the same problem. They're just bad oil pumps. Do you think a rule of thumb or the manufacturer spec is better? Tbh I'm so disappointed with acl, I was hoping it would be a good pump but saw oil pressure drop below 14psi twice and im changing it now.

      @@anotherdedchannel yeah I run a 4piston ported oil pump now. This motor did not hold oil pressure for long. After it went I rebuilt it and css'd the block! Much safer now!

      Honestly I'd recommend OEM Honda or the 4piston oil pump

    Watching this video because my oil light keeps coming on. I have a feeling it’s my oil pump due to that I changed the oil, filter, sending unit, drain pan gasket, drain plug and still when I do a oil pressure test it’s not holding at the correct PSI. I’m wondering if you think it’s the oil pump? I currently bought the same oil pump from this video. If anyone got any info link me!!

      Yeah at that point it's either the oil pump or your rod/main bearing clearances are getting too big. Any strange noises? Any shiny flake in the oil?

    Would you happen to know if the oil pump fails, will it restrict rotating the motor over by hand at the crank counter clockwise? I have an Integra with a B18B1 motor which I'm trying to figure out if the motor is seized or if the oil pump is seized therefore restricting the motor from rotating counter clockwise? The motor freely turns clockwise just not counter clockwise.
    I pulled the spark plugs all serpentine belts (AC, power steering and alternator) plus dismounted the starter and distributor and the issue persists. I poured Marvel Mystery oil in the spark plug holes and no luck. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

      When these oil pumps fail, the gears inside usually shatter, which would make hard to turn in both directions and would feel inconsistent.

      When the starter is hooked up, can you do a compression test? Also it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get an inspection camera and fish it down the spark plug holes, hopefully it's not a bent valve

      @@kraftingkars Thank you for your reply. So if the oil pump fails then the crank wont spin in either direction? Some background on what lead to this issue.. My car was partially flooded due to the recent storm in the northeast. Prior to this my car was driving fine, it was parked when it was subjected to water so I'm ruling out hydrolock since it wasn't running. The following day I drained the motor oil which had approximately one tablespoon of water and pulled the spark plugs. I drained the transmission as well though it had no water. I pulled the valve cover and there was no water inside either. I pulled the oil dipstick and there was no water droplets. The car was then rolled from my driveway into my backyard, I have yet tried to turn it on as I don't want to potentially risk damaging the motor internally.
      Being that I can still turn the crank clockwise freely, is there hope that the motor is not seized and it is being restricted by something mechanical such as then the water pump? Would you know when a motor is seized if it will NOT turn over in either direction or it can still turn in one direction and still be considered seized? I doubt the engine is out of time since the timing belt is rather new and the timing was set-up correctly. Thanks again.

      @@vanquishstorm if the engine is seized it won't turn either direction. The next easiest step would be too remove the valve cover so you can look at your valvetrain assembly and timing belt, and see if anything looks out of place

      @@kraftingkars Well that is good to know that the motor is then not seized since it does rotate clockwise. I'm going to pull the valve cover again, if the water pump is seized, would it restrict the motor from rotating in either direction or one direction similar to the oil pump? Thanks for the insight.

      Yes it did! You can see them at the 5:00 mark. I didn't even have to press them on the pump side, they were already in there when I opened up the package.

      Unfortunately I haven't put too many miles on the engine, I only got 450 miles before my oil pressure got too low to safely drive. But my oil pump held up! If I were to do it all again though I would get an oem ported pump

    Simple bolt on as long as you don’t lose any bolts on the floor and it turns into 20 minutes of finding the missing bolts 😂

      Same process, just gotta remove your crank pulley, timing belt, timing covers, and then proceed
