Neat experiment! Seeing him start out at around my club head speed and seeing how almost “slow motion” it looks is shocking to me. Seeing the numbers he’s generating and thinking I’m not too far from there is reassuring. Thanks for the video!
Cool experiment as always. There is a chart from trackman or ping about optimizing spin and launch rates based on swing and ball speed. That chart is very helpful to add to anyone watching this video. Maybe you can add your analysis of that chart. When I look at that chart, I am always amazed at how finding proper launch and spin is important at all speeds and how it differs at each level. It is such a science now.
I am quite a stat nerd and find these interesting. Only been golfing few months, haven't used a simulator, but track my distances on course using 18 birdies app. My average total distance is 250, my max to date is 309, good to get an idea of how fast I'm swinging
The "great" shots were using a 13d Cobra Max at low speed and a 10.5d Cobra DS X at the 90 speed. He used his lower lofted, X flex gamer for the "good" shots at those speeds which gave good contact numbers but low spin and launch at those speeds.
Hi, Your video gives all facts for player, great test! Age of player gives other facts, lets hear my experiance of my driving! At 83 my driver shots gave me some total of 200 yards, today at 88 my driver is 160 yards! In 5 years I losed 40 Yards, thats fact! What will I do this indoor winter practice? Ok! Practice twice a week hitting balls, try do longer backswings also! Ill come back then and tell You results! Johnny 88
damn miss so much juice from my drive with my high aoa 17° ,dynamic loft 20°,spin loft 18° ,high spin 3500+ , i could get much more distance from my speed and maybe gain speed even (head going up is slowing i assume )? gotta get them lower in face also my bb as low cg i assum so higher in face = +spin ? that chr45 feel a bit wippy at 93mph early release don't help i assum
Hey do you offer any online services? I see you have a gapping session on your website but I am preparing for a fitting in the new year. I would like to go over a few questions about the process and the equipment before hand so I can get the most out of it.
@@nickmillar9651 The head weights are all related to playing lengths. Same reason your 9 iron is heavier than your 8i. But yes, a heavier head can yield better distance assuming your speed does not drop too much because of that extra weight.
I have the qi10 standard 3 wood 5r the blue versus shaft total weight of club is 330 grams. I have the qi10 5 wood same shaft , grips etc as 3 wood its total weight is 330 to 340 grams Shouldn’t the 3 wood be more total weight
No, the 5 wood head will be heavier and that is what you are seeing. The extra shaft length in the 3w will only provide 1-2 grams of weight for the 3 wood hence the 5w static weight is greater.
The way I understand it, swing weight is a measurement of the balance point of any given club...change the weight on one end and it changes the balance point. I have changed the swing weight several points just by switching from a regular grip to a midsize grip, depending on the brand/style.
Everyone is correct. Just remember it's only changing balance not making the club lighter. Whether that is better for your game will require you testing it out.

Great video, pretty useful. Incredible how Tim swings easy.

If you like all the science side of it, I would also check out Dave Tutelman's website.
He makes it look so easy... I can barely get to 90 mph yet his swing looks so much slower than mine
So what am I missing? How do I improve swing speed?

Interesting and useful topic, as always 👍
Player height equals more length of swing, which equals more club head speed , whi h equals longer drives. At 5'4" in height, i can only dream.
What shaft flex and driver loft is he using for the 80-90 mph shots?
Great point.

Thank you. Was just wondering the Pxg 3 and five is tge opposite. 3 wood is 10 grams heavier than the 5 wood
3 wood should never be heavier than a 5 wood unless it has been modified with different weights.
@ I be dang. Wonder why they are. Woukd the heavier 3 wood go further in theory or not

Also, what about different compression balls, very much affects statistics
