We really regret we had Michiko as her in-law. Michiko is a terrible drama queen, always enjoying the spotlights. So she did not like Masako who has much more than Michiko could ever hope for.
I cannot help but think that her parents in law were perhaps less than sympathetic to the Empress. The Royal household certainly were. I was surprised how well she took to becoming Empress and she seems to have blossomed and found herself and is a great support to the Emperor.
Masako has had No Choice in Her "Fate"!! She has experienced a couple of Mental Breakdowns and Emotional Turmoil since Her marriage. It's either Except Her Lot in Life or Suicide. Myself, I would of chosen the latter.
Empress Masako is a very talented person and smart she knows a lot of languages she done great in her reign and she knows how to accomodate what she will do for many situations and she came from a good family and intellectual background so she can do what she can do best for being Empress’s 🎉❤❤❤I love her and many likes he ❤❤❤
Is it generally believed that the Emperor loves the Empress though? I have the feeling he does love her very much (but I’m only a very casual observer so I really have no idea). If so it’s rather tragic that, even though he knows his wife is suffering greatly, he can’t change the court rules to protect her …
The good thing is the emperor loves the empress so much that he publicly called out the imperial household agency for the harsh treatment they gave to her
I am quite sure, that Masako just survived thanks to her asademic curiousity towards imperial tradition and style as imperial member. Her life migt changed a lot, but the life for her is not, after all, just eating and sleeping, it ts learning and studying. So she did study a lot about imperial ritual even during the worst time of her life, now many people believe that Masako is one of the biggest specialist of Japanese imperial family and its history, many complicated rituals and traditions. She never gave up to stay next to her husband, and she succeeded, as we all know since last March, to raise up her daughter princess , her imperial highness Aiko, who is expected, by most of the nation, to take after her fathers place one day. Masako was and is a learner, who can always see bright side of life and find delight to be a part of it. She is fighter. Just one look at her wedding scene, many still remember that Masako's skin was in bad condition because of lack of sleep that day, which nobody guessed. She had to and wanted to study so many things about new life and took tons of notes before the big day. So there is more important thing to take care than looking nice at her own wedding. Truly, she is more than a imperial person. But she is always productive, which we found after all, when the era has chenged. Someone covered the fact in the dark. Such a shame.
@@lindc1070 They always died as emperor. But somehow there is an retired one today. So who knows. Maybe it is time to change. Anyway we cannot accept any cheating or illegal activity like eating red listed animals, or maybe we can accept anything. Who knows.
@@hank6741 I wonder you are Japanese! You explain things beautifully. I do believe too that Masako’s own bright minds and natural humor, intelligence and her real sagesse from knowing bigger world etc. ---of which her “big” bullying wicked mother in law never possessed --she was always crazy with jealousy and vanity--saved her ; I know I sound serious, but it was…after some years without an heir I heard she was suggested to kill herself so that Prince could marry younger women again (although she was continuously getting pregnant it was clear that the fault was in the Imperial blood not hers but I guess Abe Shinzo was too stupid and misogynistic and maybe disliked intelligent women)…ppl and media all tried to kill her by every possible means. Michiko’s family basically owns Japanese media, at least control them by force, blackmailing of death. But Masako, her natural family, although “they” did not create dominant network in Japan through marriages with whatever powers, too was of help to her (although they were almost never allowed to meet), they were luckily already trusted by European royalty by their ancestors deeds, so probably helped the world’s royals know what was really going on, like explaining every little details why they did not get their thank you letter; their letters and get-well-soon-gifts were all taken away from Masako by Michiko and that Masako never impolitely send them back but Michiko did etc etc….

Former Empress Michiko was jealous of Masako’s beauty, intelligence, dignity and everything. That’s why she kept Masako in the palace for years. Michiko controls Imperial Household Agency and nobody can say “No” to her. Michiko did all kinds of bullying to make Masako sick. Michiko controls media also and Japanese people were seeing fictitious things that Michiko made up but Japanese people are awakened now and know what’s the true. Japanese people are so proud of they have Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako .
It was the pressure from the imperial household and not from the former Empress that caused Empress Masako to go into mental breakdown. Michiko, Empress Emeritus was herself bullied and pressured and suffered mental breakdown back in her day, since she was the first commoner to marry into the imperial family.
I do hope Empress Masako has a happy life now. Also their daughter would be a marvellous Empress, she'd be a great success like our darling Queen Elizabeth.
I think it depends on the Monarchy. Look at King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Beatrix. They were kind enough to allow Queen Maxima to pursue her passion and career as the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. Queen Maxima accomplished duties as a consort and as an economic adviser. The Japanese imperial household is just different. Too bad for Empress Masako...
Masako was actually forced to marry the Prince. She rejected his proposal 3 times. In fact it was her father who thought that Masako should consider acceptiñg the proposal to avoid any difficult situation with the Imperial institution.
Monarch in Japan is the most cultured & interesting of all the monarchs in the world. Western media many times pictures it wrongly and inaccurate. Up to this day, the people in Japan respect & love their Emperor & Empress very much. I guess more than any others monarch have with their subjects.
As an Monarchist supposed to support Habsburgs,Vasas ,Batorys or Bourbons, get even of Daimyo title from Chrysanthemum Throne will be excellent. Long Live to the Emperor. Kampai🎉
It has to be difficult being around family in the same building your entire life. Most people move away, build homes, change careers and relocate if necessary. I’m sure there is the entitled royal side vs non royal commoners positions within most monarchies which is very stressful and challenging . 😂 Maybe down sizing is the best in order to reduce conflict , allowing others to make their own way in the world.
Present empress Masako had been bullied by former empress Michiko. Because empress Masako was excellent career woman of Foreign Ministry as a simultaneous interpreter. More over she can speak Russian and German more. Masako is alumni of the Harvard University and Tokyo University. Former empress Michiko had much jealousy for Masako. Empress Michiko suppressed Masako's behavior. So Masako became depression sick. But now empress Masako recovered. And all Japanese supplicate for her daughter Aiko as next emperor.
The rumors I have heard over here is that her parents pressured her to marry the prince. Prior to her marriage for years, she refused his proposals because she did not want to give up her life of freedom and a career woman. In fact, every working Royal family has no freedom they cannot travel and go about as they choose, and so yes, their lives are prisoners.
I don't think the rumors you've heard is true. The rumor that her parents encouraged her daughter to marry into the royal family must be about Kiko, Crown Princess Akishino. Kiko's parents are said to have gone to great lengths to get their daughter married into the royal family.
@@matto4457 , yes, I heard that o because she had got pregnant because allegedly, she had been pregnant by him once before their marriage and had an abortion. What I heard after falling pregnant a second time her father had enough and forced that marriage. I heard this story more than once true or not one only knows. But, I have also heard when the younger brother has traveled to Thailand especially, he loves to play with the women. She stays close to the people and lives a modest life even though she is the Empress. She wears her dress often. Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress proposed introducing an accounting audit for the Imperial House and reviewing the excessive amount of public affairs, but it is said that they were rejected by the wasteful ex-Empress and her husband and Prince Akishino and his wife. The empress received severe bashing from weekly magazines, TV stations, high-ranking officials of the Imperial Household Agency, and some members of the imperial family. She was blamed for not having a boy, and she was blamed even after she became disabled. Before her marriage, she was a diplomat who graduated with honors from Harvard University. She was forced to stop her official duties abroad because she would not be able to give birth to a boy. However, 3 months before she miscarried, her domestic duties had been jam-packed.

I heard the Emperor said, "If I cannot marry Masako, I will not marry anyone." I also thought it was a tragedy that the Empress married into the Imperial family. However, after watching the press conference of the Emperor's child, Princess Aiko, when she came of age, I strongly felt that the empress's efforts had been rewarded. Princess Aiko should become the emperor. Many Japanese clearly know who is better suited to the emperor, the men of Akishino family or Princess Aiko.
Using current term, masako was sort of gaslighted to marry the crown prince that it made her feel that as a good citizen, she's obliged to marry him & produce an heir.

last Komuro couple is an ordinary citizen, not even a member of the royal family. Please do not put them together. I would like to apologize to His Majesty the Emperor and Her Imperial Highness Princess Masako.
I earnestly hope that her only daughter will be the next empress of Japan.
That unfortunately won’t happen. The Japanese monarchy is very paternalistic.

We really regret we had Michiko as her in-law.
Michiko is a terrible drama queen, always enjoying the spotlights.
So she did not like Masako who has much more than Michiko could ever hope for.
💐This princess and her husband is from japan,i like her and she and her husband is clever💐
皇后雅子様は、教養もありコミニケーション力もありとても素晴らしいお方です💞
その才能に嫉妬した、上皇后美智子による壮絶なイジメに苦しめられました💢
日本国民は皇后雅子様をお守りしないといけません❗
Her life was not easy then. She was not well prepared but glad she’s doing better now.
Masako is trully beautiful
Empress Masako is a very talented person and smart she knows a lot of languages she done great in her reign and she knows how to accomodate what she will do for many situations and she came from a good family and intellectual background so she can do what she can do best for being Empress’s 🎉❤❤❤I love her and many likes he ❤❤❤
ほとんど外遊行かなかったけど、外国の王室に愛される夫妻。外国の王妃たちと同じ匂いがする
She was not prepared all the pressure put on her when she married her husband. Her husband supported her a long time.
I recall when they got married. Wow time flies! I am glad she survived her emotional issues.
Is it generally believed that the Emperor loves the Empress though? I have the feeling he does love her very much (but I’m only a very casual observer so I really have no idea). If so it’s rather tragic that, even though he knows his wife is suffering greatly, he can’t change the court rules to protect her …
天皇に法律を改定する権力はありません。
The heir to the throne is always male. Her Uncle and his son are next in line not Princess Aiko

I have this book and it says there that her story would make Princess Diana's suffering look like a walk in the park.

Japan had Empresses. The mother of Emperor Hirohito was Empress before her son could take throne.
At the surrender of Japan in 1945.They asked that the Royal Family survive! Actually turned out a big mistake.
The Emperor and the Empress look like beautiful dolls, always well dressed and smiling.
I agree with you, very few times these people who lives in palaces, being princes and princess are happy! Most unhappy people!

I love Freedom n Simple Life
So sad for Empress Masako😥
Former Empress Michiko was jealous of Masako’s beauty, intelligence, dignity and everything. That’s why she kept Masako in the palace for years. Michiko controls Imperial Household Agency and nobody can say “No” to her. Michiko did all kinds of bullying to make Masako sick. Michiko controls media also and Japanese people were seeing fictitious things that Michiko made up but Japanese people are awakened now and know what’s the true. Japanese people are so proud of they have Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako .
LOL.
Extremely disrespectful. Don't insult the Japanese imperial family by saying such blasphemous things.
It was the pressure from the imperial household and not from the former Empress that caused Empress Masako to go into mental breakdown. Michiko, Empress Emeritus was herself bullied and pressured and suffered mental breakdown back in her day, since she was the first commoner to marry into the imperial family.
@@maikotsutsumi その通りです👏
Michiko was more beautiful than Masako IMO.
I do hope Empress Masako has a happy life now. Also their daughter would be a marvellous Empress, she'd be a great success like our darling Queen Elizabeth.
The empress and the emperor are a respectful persons .
I personally think she would have lived just fine if it wasn't for the emperor.
Personally I can adapt any situation but freedom is necessary 😸
I love freedom, no thanks to being a royal!
Kampai🎉
Empress has a strong husband to be with her ,
It has to be difficult being around family in the same building your entire life.

She married the then crown prince now emperor out of love so she is NEVER a "prisoner".

Pretty Empress
Present empress Masako had been bullied by former empress Michiko.
Because empress Masako was excellent career woman of Foreign Ministry as a simultaneous interpreter. More over she can speak Russian and German more.
Masako is alumni of the Harvard University and Tokyo University.
Former empress Michiko had much jealousy for Masako. Empress Michiko suppressed Masako's behavior. So Masako became depression sick.
But now empress Masako recovered. And all Japanese supplicate for her daughter Aiko as next emperor.
Some of us have to make a noise for the next life and thereafter and so on thats what people like me have to do❤❤🎉🎉
The rumors I have heard over here is that her parents pressured her to marry the prince.
But, I have also heard when the younger brother has traveled to Thailand especially, he loves to
play with the women.
Back to the present-day Empress the rumors were strong that her parents pushed or strongly encouraged her to marry him.
It is said Akishinonomiya's wife, Kiko, got pregnant twice before she got married. That's why the parents of the Emperor's younger brother, Akishinonomiya's wife Kiko, who strongly wanted to get married.

So true. Well said.
Any royal family has their own untold story. Do you think the Britain royal family any better?

She should not married an emperor….
Because Endora, excuse me, her mother in law and her sister in law were bullying poor Masako. Now King Charles is inviting our Emperor and Empress to the UK, leaving next week. Rumour says the mean women are not welcome in the UK because the British Royal family are well-aware of the witches’ despicable souls.
The Book--"The Chrysanthemum Throne" is BANNED In Japan!! Why?? Because It Tells Exactly "Why" Masako Married This Prince. After Turning Down His Several Marriage Proposal's, She Was "Made An Offer She Couldn't Refuse"!! It Was Either "Be My Wife" or Your Family Will Be DESTROYED!! Masako Sacrificed Her Life Desires, Needs and Wants to SAVE HER FAMILY. This Well Educated Lady Had Plans For Her Future, and Marriage Was Not in The Immediate Future For Her. The "Prince" Wanted What He Wanted and Wouldn't Take NO For an Answer. READ THE BOOK!! Masako Deserved Alot Better Then What Fate Handed Her. I Have Always Felt Bad For Her. Myself, I Would of Chosen SUICIDE Then This Miserable Life as a Japanese Royal. "A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste"!!
I heard the Emperor said, "If I cannot marry Masako, I will not marry anyone."
I also thought it was a tragedy that the Empress married into the Imperial family.
