Congrats you are the only person reviewing this that knows how to use it. I see people putting 10ft 2.5" branches in and letting go expecting it not to stall, Its about momentum. That kick killed me lol
Dude - The Predator 212 is the bar none BEST motor of its size in history. I’ve created custom builds with maybe 20 of them and they are flawless and a cinch to modify. And amusingly they exceed the quality abd performance of the very Hondas that they are a clone of.
I would tweak it a little. Put solid rubber tires on it. Put wing nuts on the clean out plate, and limb tube to make it faster to remove a jam. And make the clean out plate big enough to be able to see all the shredder knives. From other videos. The hopper will wind the 1/2 inch limbs around the shredder blades. Making it where you have to remove the hopper, and the side of the shredder chamber to get the wound up limb out.
I forget which channel I saw this on, but someone took an HVAC boot, dust collector hose and a duct clamp to modify the discharge area. I'm curious if some downspout sections with a couple of nuts and bolts attached to the machine would hold up to make a taller chute for loading carts, what do you think?
It would probably work but sometimes you end up with 4" to 5" long chunks that may clog it. I think a square shovel and a three sided box to chip into would be easier. The bag definitely sucks!
No issues with the machine itself, the bag yes. I wish I had an hour meter on it, but I've put hundreds of 6 to 8 foot "jack pines" through it. It's currently buried under 4 feet of snow up on the property. Hoping to get up there in a few weeks to see how it starts up.
Actually the bag is less work. One- I don't have to move the awkward machine every 2 minutes. Two- there is so much force coming from the chute that you can't direct chips where you want them to go without something to catch them. That and blowing them right to the ground creates more dust than it's worth.
You have to wear eye, ear, Kevlar lined gloves, and a respirator or you will damage yourself or end up in ER, From experience with mine over 100+ hours.
Yes, PPE is recommended when using machinery. Probably should have mentioned that it will take your hand off too if you don't follow directions. I always wear eye protection and gloves of some sort, but sometimes I forget the ears. Dang it's loud. It is surprising how much dust it produces and a respirator is a good idea on non windy days. I ran a couple hundred jack pines (dry) through mine last weekend and it never gets old.
Why is everybody just chipping pine? I never cut pine, I need something that I can use to clean up after cutting hardwood firewood . Just branches under 2" Everything else I use to burn, try to use as much of the tree as I can.
Just remember, you get what you pay for! I don't care how much your coupon reduces to purchase the Harbor Freight Chipper/Mulcher. ITS NOT WORTH IT! I had mine for one year and it worked ok. It DOES NOT TAKE 3" limbs...... The shaft sheered the following year and of course i did not take the extended warranty. The Customer Service line is a joke. You have to have a lot of time to stay on hold until anyone answers. Once answered, the Customer Service rep. stated i could purchase another shaft for it. I did and it was not really that expensive. They also sent it pretty fast. Well, that was a joke. You literally have to be a small engine mechanic with all the tools to tear the entire engine apart to install the new shaft. A friend told me it was cheaper to purchase another engine with the shaft. So, i called back, waited an hour and they took the part back. I ordered the engine for $120 but now the shaft does not smoothly fit the hub. Very long frustrating time latere, i sold the entire piece of crap on Facebook to someone for $50 and bought a REAL CHIPPER!.

Nice video showing the chipper. You will find just burning slash piles is much faster and easier if you don't need the mulch for anything.
Gloves are a must when feeding the tube. Your hands will thank you!

I notice all the branches are almost perfectly straight. if the branch has any curve to it, or any "y" in it, it won't work.
If it's a major curve or "s" then yes, it definitely makes it more difficult. I usually break or cut them at that point to get them chipped.
Looks like they made some good improvements from their last model.
Man I hope so. I've seen some negative reviews about crank issues but so far so good.

I like that idea. I think Crouch Ranch used the very setup which you're making a reference to.
I upgraded to the 8hp predator engine NO BOGGING DOWN WITH THE 3in limbs
@@DavesCoolCustomBikes I bet that chews through them.
That guy chewed through the bigger dry stuff pretty easily if you baby it through. How much run time do you get on a tank of fuel?
I never let my small engines run dry, but I usually run this between one and two hours before refueling
It probably wouldn't flood as often if you turned the throttle down before you start it.
Thank you! This was really helpful.
How is it holding up now? Had any issues?

@@brandonstorer6614 Nice. Thank you for the response. I'm pretty sure this is the one I'm going with.
And, if it stops self feeding your outlet port is clogged and it will throw debris back at you.
Sharpen the blades and stand back , they come dull !!!
It should come with a turn on button, it would be much easier instead of pulling a chord several times.
That would require a battery powered starter.😮
Your boot laces are untied .
Lmao. I'm trying to bring the 80s back.
Is the engine 2-stroke or 4-stroke ?
4 stroke
Why the collector bag? Move the shreader to THAT spot and let er go on the ground!! Your doing more work than you need.

Why is every wood chipper video 14 minuets of talk and 38 seconds of chipping?
Maybe you should make a video with no talking and just the chipper being used.
It's to make you ask silly questions. it worked.

Well it just so happens that my property is covered in pine so that's what gets chipped. Not sure about anybody else.
