To everyone very important it’s impossible to lift this car with the jack provided… u will have to buy a bigger jack. Even for the standard tires..and god forbid u have larder tires on it.. You will have to up a bigger jack MAKE SURE U KEEP A FEW blocks of 2x4 in ur truck or ur stranded

FYI, someone has probably already pointed this out in the past, but I discovered a few weeks ago that the flat head screwdriver actually has a shaft that you can flip in it, so it's phillips on one end and flat head on the other. I only found out because I was watching your video on lowering the spare, and only had a phillips in my kit, and fooled about with it to discover it's one of those screwdrivers you can flip and has flat on one tip and phillips on the other. So you actually do have a tool to tigten the jack together. Pretty cool!
Gx Bob, thank you for your humorous and well-intended video. But in the interest of public safety... we own two GX460s the 2019 model and a 2015 these bottle jacks are weak and inadequate! Do not put that bottle jack under the axle! We did and it slipped, fortunately I had gotten the spare tire on and hand tightened the lugs before it popped out from underneath the rear driver side axle.On the jack itself it gives instructions, further it says it's for GX460, the Prada and 4Runner.If I'm wrong somebody tell me where to put that jack on the frame as instructed on it, It extends too short and I'm not carrying around 2x4s.Secondarily it's lightweight extensions on it are too thin and as I said previously it reaches nothing on the car to get any height. This all happened yesterday, we are now searching for a new jack for the vehicle.As you said in the beginning of your video all of us can't depend on AAA or another service to help us out.I got a feeling the Bean counters just felt that most Lexus owners will call someone to help them. A suggestion would be some kind of a welded slot on the axles, so the Jack would fit. By the way I still love Lexus engineering, through the '90s IMO it's never been duplicated. But here, is a deadly weakness.

Junk yard. They network with other junkyards via a system network to locate any used Lexus part. But does it have to be oem? You can just throw in any other set up that will work just the same from other car makes.
Have you ever tried jacking up the front? I have once and the jack does not extract enough to clear the tire. I had to put 2x4 under it in order to clear it.

Bob, I tried to take off the rear wheel to change brake pad, and I affixed the jack to the appropriate point (rear under the passenger side point, Not the point that you are using on your video. I jacked it to the maximum extent of the jack....NO Good, the tire never lost contact with the pavement. no way to take the rear tire off without put more plywood & 2x4 to help to lift it higher. it is so freaking weird. (I don't have the top trim model, no rear height control air suspension to Turn off. (like the manual said on page P.331) * my 2014 GX460 *
It's really meant to take off a flat tire. A tie with full air will barely take off the ground unless u get creative and find a Jack point under your car closet to ther pavement. Great ideas to keep a small 2x4 in your car. Thanks for the idea!

Better question is what are you doing underneath the truck? This cheesy little hydro jack is for changing out a spare tire, not to do oil changes with.
Yeah.....but have you ever used the Jack as a weapon? Our used it to tenderize meat during camping? Or used it to lodge your tires out of deep mud? Or crack your windows while your entire car is submerged in a lake? This Jack rocks!!!
@@GXBOB Bob i believe you not serious =) baseball bat or portable shovel will be better as weapon=) In deep mud that junk just will be sink and you never find them=)And if You submerged in lake i dont think someone will jump on third row for that thing for brake a window - i will take off a gear selector handle with metal on the bottom in two seconds and crush that side window or sunroof =) That jack so unstable - better use in on hard and even ground - BE SAFE DONT USE THAT JUNK if you have choice with something else !
@@halfpint3069 No its not, my breaker bars are random hollow metal tubes i find aaround my garage. Not exactly sure what its for but i'm thinking its part of some plumbing extension tool. Home Depot sells metal tubes that you can chop off to the length you want, those work too.

It's okay, i had the entire truck on jackstands while on a 10-degree driveway incline.
my tool kit comes with the philips, but not flat head. Nice trick with the handle piece to tighten the bolts.
i think the previous owner has a nice looking Lexus phillips screwdriver somewhere in his garage that belongs to me.

That isn't a breaker bar. It's a spark plug wrench supplied by Lexus that goes into the empty slot on your tool tray.
I have never ever used anything that was intended for anything for its specific purpose. A broken screwdriver could be used as a breaker bar.
What if I drop the truck on me, is there instructions for that?
