Nice video. Just received mine. As I was watching the part with the ability to charge the receiver while plugged in, I was wondering why they didn't take advantage of the phantom power available on most mixers to keep it charged that way. A simple transformer to match voltage would be easy to incorporate into the circuitry.
@@ScottUhlMusic I don’t mean phantom power to power a condenser microphone, I meant using the phantom power from the mixer to power the receiving unit you plug into the mixer. It would eliminate the need to plug it on the side, which is limiting in certain situations.
Thanks so much for the review, but wow! I hate saying it, but hose are truly awful. I could immediately hear the difference through my iPhone speakers while I was standing next to a loud refrigerator, and the bathroom fan going one room over. Bummer, I was hoping they were decent. Great work on the video, and keep the info flowing!
I honestly do not know how you had that experience unless you got a bad one. I use these CONSTANTLY. Used it 3 times over the weekend. Took it to the Bahamas for 2 weeks for my wife’s vocal mic. I’m taking it to a one off show in Dominican Republic coming up. This thing has been extremely useful for me and I still use it to this day
Any wireless can cut out, especially the cheap stuff. This one has worked well about 98% of the time. But you have only 4 channels. I recommend watching this video: th-cam.com/video/Xi2JcMomjQ0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JfohqFa4K-zKnIKA
It feels like it would be too good to be true, but does it transmit a balanced signal, or just sums it up, transmits and reverses the polarity for one wire at the receiver end? What I mean is: Could this potentially be used with the Behringer P2 like you've shown at the end of your video, but for stereo monitoring? Like using an Y adapter to put two signals at the transmitter end and putting P2 into unbalanced Stereo mode.
How well do you think you could use two of these with a Behringer PM2 and have a stereo 5.8 GHz digital iem system…? With only 4 channels to choose from you’d probably only want to do it for one person, but it’s an interesting idea.
You could do that for sure. Or this is a good stereo IEM system for not much more. Actually probably the same price haha: th-cam.com/video/dJL_zI2drRQ/w-d-xo.html
@@ScottUhlMusic I looked at those the other day. They’re not digital right? So while the frequency response is ok… the stereo separation on them is listed as only “>40dBm”. To me that sounds like there’s a lot of bleed between the two channels. Whereas using two of these XLR type systems could hypothetically avoid that… at least if they don’t cause interference with each other. I’m using fake doubling on my guitar in my in-ears, which turns into a lot of phase issues when summing to mono qt all. So I need quality stereo separation.
Hey Scott. I tried out a Shure Beta87a and my voice sound a lot better with it :/ ... meaning ... i need a way to power it now. Any recommendations for phantom power xlr wireless gear?
Hey brother! Great vid. Was curious about one aspect I can't find about these. I send a right and left xlr from my mixer to both inputs of an EV50 and then send that signal from the mix out to one of the input channels of an EV50 on the other side of the stage. I want your opinion on the fact that I can go from one EV50 to another EV50? Trying to eliminate 30ft of xlr cable....Thnx!
I use that all the time with these actually 👍 I use the EV50 as well. Out of my mixer into one EV speaker, then mix out to the 2nd one. These would work great for it
I bought these because you used them from a PA to a powered speaker. I tried going from my DJ controller (+18 dBu) to a PA line in and it's peaking. If I went from my DJ controller (Denon Prime Go) to a powered speaker would it work?
I believe it should, but I honestly don’t know every setup. It works from my mixer to a speaker or a mic to my mixer. You can always try them and return them if you need to 👍
Best practice is to keep it 6-10 feet away from Wi-Fi routers and anything on 5.8ghz. That is just best practice though… wireless can still work regardless
Actually I bought it, tried it and sent it back. It really worked pretty easy and had no dropouts. BUT I tried several microphones while several gigs and with every microphone I had clipping when singing a bit louder, not shouting or screaming, only singing a bit louder. Unfortunately, you can't adjust the sensitivity of the transmitter, which would be great in order to eliminate clipping.
@@ScottUhlMusic I know, that’s why I finally baught it! :) Well, maybe the one I got was a bad one but I’m hesitating ordering another one to find that out. Thinking about to go back to 2,4 GHz and get a Sennheiser XSW-D XLR set.
Great vid, helped me make up my mind, much thanks. I didn't use your link to buy, I'm in the uk, but saved £25 getting it new on eBay, £79 (GBP, inc tax). Best wishes.
I wouldn’t do that many of these since these are cheaper and you only get 4 channels. That means all 4 channels need to be clear/available at every show. The RF environment is always different. You could do one or two of these, and then try one or two of these since they are on different frequencies; th-cam.com/video/mGETbUMKzG4/w-d-xo.html But if you really want reliability for running to multiple speakers, this is the system I use: th-cam.com/video/VlFGn6AxgqA/w-d-xo.html Actually just did this again recently at a show two nights ago. The cheap ones work well, but these are much more reliable if you are going to use multiple ones at once
Hi, Will it be working with a Senheiser e945 to connect to a Bluetooth mixer for playing karaoke tracks from my mobile while singing wirelessly using this adapter with my mic?
@@ScottUhlMusic It does but, my question was that the mixer needs to accept Bluetooth sound from the phone and at the same time accept microphone signal using it’s XLR port with no need for phantom power. Will that be Ok?
The tx is bigger than the sure logo. That means that u cant put em side by side in a mixing console.....atleast without 6 inch xlr extensions.....do they work while charging? If so hows the hum?
Very nice & comprehensive review 👍👍 But I have a question.. will this stuff works for wireless guitar (or other unbalanced instruments) transmission with a TS to XLR adapter?
@@ScottUhlMusic What's the difference between wireless guitar system and wireless XLR system like this when it comes to unbalanced instrument transmission? I love the versatility of this wireless XLR as it can be used in many applications. But it will be a great advantage if this stuff also works to transmit guitar as well as dedicated wireless guitar system.. So I'd like to know
Will any dynamic mic work with this? Does the mic need to have its own batteries to work wirelessly with this? Any suggested mics would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Any mic that doesn’t require phantom power, yes this will work. A mic should not need batteries. A good one to try with it is the standard Shure sm58 🤘
Interesting you note that you can charge the receiver while it’s running which is great but since I used mine from mixer to powered speaker I’d like to be able to charge the transmitter as well but that doesn’t work. I don’t know why they left it out just making a note.
Is there a line of sight requirement for this unit? If the PA speaker is around an interior corner from the mixer, or if there is a crowd of people visually between the mixer and speaker, do you get dropouts?
Line of sight is important for any wireless system, not just this one. You can get away with using wireless around a corner sometimes but not always. That’s true for any wireless
Hi Scott ,whats your set list and the most impact song you play ......you look like a pal of mine. chelsea ,london and i send owr warmest trgards to you . Al
I really appreciate this review. This particular brand of wireless system has constantly been coming up on my Amazon page as a possible purchase. Wanted to purchase one just to try it out, but didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it if I didn't like it. I think I'll be picking up a few of them to use with my gigs. I'm trying to go as wireless as I possibly can. I saw someone use something like these with powered speakers. I may be trying that and see how it goes. Thanks.
Hello! I have a couple of shure blx receivers that we use for headset mics. I was thinking about getting a couple shure sm58 wireless mics to go along with them. Do you think these would be just a good as using the blx system? Thank you!
I purchased this product, it works great with a microphone, but it doesn't work well when connecting a mixer to a speaker, as soon as you turn up the volume a bit, the sound immediately goes into distortion, quite logical, assuming it is suitable for mic mode, and not for line or aux mode. I would appreciate it if you have a solution to the matter
Ours works great with our PA. But if yours isn’t working for your pa, this one is a great option: th-cam.com/video/tM4ndTdGfos/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uuC7TIT6crdP-n9o
@@ScottUhlMusic It's already an expensive and more cumbersome product, xvive has the same product that has the option of line or mic mode, maybe it's worth buying it
This might sounds stupid but I am rehearsing with a Line6 Helix plugged into a mixer with an XLR cable. Do you think I could swap the cable with this device (Tx on the helix XLR out and Rx on the mixer input)? Thanks!
I have bought it recently. Still not sure if it is a toy or not. The latency is 7ms, not less than 5 as advertised. Not a big deal but it does not keep unity gain either. The level is 5.5dB lower comparing to a cable. Max level before AD/DA clipping is -8.5dBu The receiver XLR plug is short and keeps XLR socket lock button pressed (released) so it can't be used directly with eg. camera without a risk it would fall off.
Thanks for the info. I’ve used this live at multiple gigs when I got it and had no problems with it. But I will say… No one can hear 7ms or 5ms of latency. If the volume is less, you can always just turn up. But you are correct with using with a camera. You can get an xlr little extender or tiny cable if you planned to use it that way. I definitely think this is still worth it, especially for the price 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic Isn't that honest if one advertise a product to give a customer a honest specs? 5 looks better than 7 and 0dB looks better than -6dB. Still it is not true. :) BTW well designed 2.4GHz devices like eg Rode Wireless Go II outperforms 5.8GHz toy products.
You can get more latency based on your setup. So it could be a problem on your end, or they could have gotten it slightly wrong. Online they say 6ms or latency. I think 1ms of latency difference is within a reasonable margin of error and does not count dishonesty. And where does it say there is no loss in signal volume? I looked and I didn’t see it. Again, a slightly lower volume is very easy to fix :) The Rode wireless are great for sure. But they are completely different setup and design. If you are using them with a camera, those seem great. If you want to add one to a handheld mic, these Lekato 5.8 ones are great for that. And I’ll take 5.8ghz is far less crowded than 2.4ghz. So I personally stand by my review and I still recommend this product 👍 Cheers.
@@ScottUhlMusic Yeah almost 7 so still 6 ;) They had printed a manual with some mostly useless specs but gain is speced at 0dB. Man, what a hiss! 105dB SN ratio??? No way!!! 60-80 maybe. But, wait - wedding parties are noisy so nobody should notice, right? :) I wonder how much time the batteries holds. 3 hours vs 5 advertised? You can still plug some small power bank or charge it in between sets anyway. ;) Cheers!
@@zbyszekolko3998 I'm definitely not going to be mad at a 1ms difference... again, assuming it's not a mistake on your end lol. This system is great, and I still use it to this day. I can confirm that the Battery survives longer than 4+ hours. I use it for a 4 hour set, including soundcheck, and never had it die on me. I also do not have a hiss problem with this system. Sounds like it's not for you. But I still use and recommend this system to others. 👍
What if our sound engineer is using digital mixer with Apple Airport wifi router? It is right on the scene. And what if I am using this MW-1 very close to my mic, I mean that the receiver is connected to my xlr cable, which is lying just nearby my mic stand with the transmitter on mic? Will it help to avoid any problems?
The product would work for me, but I have a question, what happens when the battery stops working or runs out over time. I don't want to spend on a product that I have to throw away at some point. Could you tell me about it? Thank you so much.
Most wireless do not allow you to send to multiple transmitters and receivers at once. But if you have one transmitter, and two receivers…. You set the receivers to the same channel… and then turn on and off the receivers as you need to, that would work 👍 but they cannot receive at the same time
Eh… this is why I personally dislike doing tone tests. Everyone is so focused on “I heard a slight difference with the tone” but in reality… did they sound useable? The answer is yes. That’s what matters the most.
Do you have any information on battery life ? And if it’s possible to open the units to install new batteries ? , being able to install new batteries if needed is a big reason if I buy these or not . Good video .
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the quick reply. @@ScottUhlMusic A lot of gadgets are like this now , once the sealed internal battery dies , it’s throw away and buy another ! Hey Scott, thanks for posting these videos on the lower cost wireless gear. I purchased the Lekato wireless XLR system and am finding I need to increase the input gain on the mixer to get similar levels as the same mic, wired. Did you experience this? I’m trying to determine if my unit is defective or if that’s just the way it is.
It’s reassuring to find this is normal. I’ve only used it twice and am happy with its performance. On my Mackie mixer I have to use a short XLR cable to allow other mic cables to plug in to the adjacent channels. Thanks for responding!
Can they go from back of mixer output (not just a line out on top) to powered speakers and can they be charged same time plugged into mains to charge on reciever and sender. Also if using 2 like this left n right can you use a third for a mic and so i suppose you use a different channel for that.....any dropouts? by the way i correctly guessed so its just a bit quieter ....but hows the overall sound quality ? Does it really do 5 hours? wish there was a system that did 8 just to be on safe side cos batteries do degrade over time
Yup, and that's mostly how I use this actually... for a wireless PA. I use it sometimes for a wireless mic, but often times I use it for a wireless PA setup. It works great!
You can. Just be careful because you only have 4 channels. If 2 of them are crowded/used you won’t be able to use 3. Also don’t use a bunch of cheap wireless all at once: th-cam.com/video/Xgw96rY4TAc/w-d-xo.html
I want to use this with a cloudlifter (which requires 48V) and at the end you suggested not to be used with phantom... would it cause issues or should I risk it?

I have a wireless uhf microphone. Will there be an interference if I'll be getting a uhf wireless guitar system? Unfortunately, most of products here in my country are uhf products.
No, uhf can still be set to different frequencies. So one can be 500mhz, another at 520mhz, and so on. If just depends on the system on how many wireless can be used at once. But with most systems you can use at least 4 at once without dropouts 👍
I would like to go from a yamaha mixer left channel out to a Boss VE 2 harmonizr input. Then from the harmonizer output to my vocal amp. I will short cable the mic(sm58) to the mixer mounted on the mic stand. would 2 of these work in that configuration??

Anyone compared these with the Xvive U3? I'm UK based playing small venues up to 150 people usually. We use two SM55 (Elvis) mics that are always in a stand. Just trying to help clear cable mess up and speed up setup/break down.
Yeah you need phantom power for that. It only works with dynamic mics. Phantom power required a lot of power. This one works with phantom but the battery obviously won’t last as long: th-cam.com/video/mGETbUMKzG4/w-d-xo.html
If you are asking can you use two sets at once, then yes. If you are asking if you can transmit from one transmitter to two separate receivers, no you cannot. Not without turning the other one off

Reminds me of a cheap, 2000’s era, Azden wireless lavalier set I used for a cable access “run and gun”. Woof…
This thing has been extremely useful for me and I still use it to this day
Hi! Have you ever experienced signal loss or interferences when using it in front of an audience with all the cellphones and stuff? Thanks!
Any wireless can cut out, especially the cheap stuff. This one has worked well about 98% of the time. But you have only 4 channels. I recommend watching this video: th-cam.com/video/Xi2JcMomjQ0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JfohqFa4K-zKnIKA
2-3 Wireless Using High end Head headphones you can hear hissing.
Surely if you connect this to preamp and PA, this is more noticeable.
I use this live for speakers/PA as well as for microphones. I don’t hear it. Either through the pa or in our in ears. It works great live 👍
This is a mono xlr adapter 👍
I would probably go with a Shure or sennheiser wireless IEM system then. But… if you do end up trying this method, let me know if it works
Hey Scott. I tried out a Shure Beta87a and my voice sound a lot better with it :/ ... meaning ... i need a way to power it now. Any recommendations for phantom power xlr wireless gear?
Yup! th-cam.com/video/mGETbUMKzG4/w-d-xo.html
These would work great for it
hello friend ... to charge it via usb, I simply connect it to a cell phone charger? does that help me ??
You can charge it with anything that accepts USB for charging, (like a cell phone charger) 👍
You can always try them and return them if you need to 👍
Hi I was wondering if using this near a 5 G phone would cause interference.
Best practice is to keep it 6-10 feet away from Wi-Fi routers and anything on 5.8ghz. That is just best practice though… wireless can still work regardless
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the quick response!
Interesting…. I’ve used this one at countless shows for mics and for pa and I never have that problem.
@@ScottUhlMusic I know, that’s why I finally baught it! :)
Well, maybe the one I got was a bad one but I’m hesitating ordering another one to find that out.
One of the advantage of 5.8ghz is it penetrate obstacle like wall less easily... Which mean you get less interference from 5.8ghz system around you.
great vid. thanks. Can you use more of these units together. I.e 1 transmitter out of a mixer and 3, 4 or more for active speakers around a room
I wouldn’t do that many of these since these are cheaper and you only get 4 channels. That means all 4 channels need to be clear/available at every show. The RF environment is always different. You could do one or two of these, and then try one or two of these since they are on different frequencies; th-cam.com/video/mGETbUMKzG4/w-d-xo.html
But if you really want reliability for running to multiple speakers, this is the system I use: th-cam.com/video/VlFGn6AxgqA/w-d-xo.html
Actually just did this again recently at a show two nights ago. The cheap ones work well, but these are much more reliable if you are going to use multiple ones at once
Hi, Will it be working with a Senheiser e945 to connect to a Bluetooth mixer for playing karaoke tracks from my mobile while singing wirelessly using this adapter with my mic?
If it accepts xlr and doesn’t need phantom power, it will work. But it is NOT Bluetooth
@@ScottUhlMusic It does but, my question was that the mixer needs to accept Bluetooth sound from the phone and at the same time accept microphone signal using it’s XLR port with no need for phantom power. Will that be Ok?
A mixer should be able to accept 2 inputs, yes. One Bluetooth and one xlr
The tx is bigger than the sure logo. That means that u cant put em side by side in a mixing console.....atleast without 6 inch xlr extensions.....do they work while charging? If so hows the hum?
Depends on the console, I have before. But not on all of them. You can get a little 1ft xlr cable too
Very nice & comprehensive review 👍👍 But I have a question.. will this stuff works for wireless guitar (or other unbalanced instruments) transmission with a TS to XLR adapter?
Thanks! And you would want to get a wireless guitar system instead. I’ve reviewed many on the channel, and you can get a cheap one for $50
@@ScottUhlMusic What's the difference between wireless guitar system and wireless XLR system like this when it comes to unbalanced instrument transmission? I love the versatility of this wireless XLR as it can be used in many applications. But it will be a great advantage if this stuff also works to transmit guitar as well as dedicated wireless guitar system.. So I'd like to know
Is this good for recording on studio? Or is better use a cable?
Why would you need wireless for a studio?
Will any dynamic mic work with this? Does the mic need to have its own batteries to work wirelessly with this? Any suggested mics would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Any mic that doesn’t require phantom power, yes this will work. A mic should not need batteries. A good one to try with it is the standard Shure sm58 🤘
Interesting you note that you can charge the receiver while it’s running which is great but since I used mine from mixer to powered speaker I’d like to be able to charge the transmitter as well but that doesn’t work. I don’t know why they left it out just making a note.
Yeah that is interesting, because I would do the same thing
You mentioned that you can charge the transmitter while in use, but can you also charge the receiver while in use?
I haven’t tried that. I would imagine you could though
The wireless ones had more noise. I'm thinking about getting these to use with my Zoom Podtrak P8.
There’s a tiny bit of hiss when you listen with headphones. But live, you cannot tell. I use these all the time still
Is there a line of sight requirement for this unit? If the PA speaker is around an interior corner from the mixer, or if there is a crowd of people visually between the mixer and speaker, do you get dropouts?
Line of sight is important for any wireless system, not just this one. You can get away with using wireless around a corner sometimes but not always. That’s true for any wireless

Thanks.
That’s how I often use it. It’s a great system!

Hello! I have a couple of shure blx receivers that we use for headset mics. I was thinking about getting a couple shure sm58 wireless mics to go along with them. Do you think these would be just a good as using the blx system? Thank you!
BLX systems will have more channels to chose from. See my wireless buying guide here: th-cam.com/video/Xi2JcMomjQ0/w-d-xo.html
But if yours isn’t working for your pa, this one is a great option:
th-cam.com/video/tM4ndTdGfos/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uuC7TIT6crdP-n9o
@@ScottUhlMusic It's already an expensive and more cumbersome product, xvive has the same product that has the option of line or mic mode, maybe it's worth buying it
This might sounds stupid but I am rehearsing with a Line6 Helix plugged into a mixer with an XLR cable. Do you think I could swap the cable with this device (Tx on the helix XLR out and Rx on the mixer input)? Thanks!
You can, yes 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks!
I have bought it recently. Still not sure if it is a toy or not. The latency is 7ms, not less than 5 as advertised. Not a big deal but it does not keep unity gain either. The level is 5.5dB lower comparing to a cable.
Max level before AD/DA clipping is -8.5dBu
The receiver XLR plug is short and keeps XLR socket lock button pressed (released) so it can't be used directly with eg. camera without a risk it would fall off.
BTW well designed 2.4GHz devices like eg Rode Wireless Go II outperforms 5.8GHz toy products.
Again, a slightly lower volume is very easy to fix :)
The Rode wireless are great for sure.
I wonder how much time the batteries holds. 3 hours vs 5 advertised?
You can still plug some small power bank or charge it in between sets anyway. ;)
Cheers!
I would avoid putting this right by a router… but I have done it and it’s been fine. It all just depends.
The product would work for me, but I have a question, what happens when the battery stops working or runs out over time. I don't want to spend on a product that I have to throw away at some point. Could you tell me about it? Thank you so much.
Stuff with a built in battery is that way. If you don’t want that, watch my Shure video series and save up for a BLX system 👍
Any chance you know whether multiple pairs of these can work in parallel?
Most wireless do not allow you to send to multiple transmitters and receivers at once. But if you have one transmitter, and two receivers…. You set the receivers to the same channel… and then turn on and off the receivers as you need to, that would work 👍 but they cannot receive at the same time
Is Lekato an actual brand or just a general name? For instance, is Joyo the same product?
Thanks millions for all your great info!
Lekato is a brand 👍 thanks for watching!
I definitely could hear the difference between wireless and cable, but I get how many would not.
Eh… this is why I personally dislike doing tone tests. Everyone is so focused on “I heard a slight difference with the tone” but in reality… did they sound useable? The answer is yes. That’s what matters the most.
The same button you press to power up the mic (the device), can you press to power it off and how many seconds to press and power off ?
Yes, same button. And it only takes about a second or two to power up 🤘
Is it also possible to connect headphones to the receiver and use it as in-ear-monitoring system ?
Yup, I made a video about how to do that here: th-cam.com/video/AoykGJRcPPw/w-d-xo.html It works pretty well 👍
Does this do phantom power for 48v? Gonna try to get it paired to my audio technica 897
No phantom power with this one
Do you have any information on battery life ? And if it’s possible to open the units to install new batteries ? , being able to install new batteries if needed is a big reason if I buy these or not . Good video .
The battery life survives longer than 5 hours for sure. Some people say they can install new batteries, but I do not know how to 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I know the batteries last well once charged , I just wanted to know if it was possible to open the units to install new batteries if needed in the future , or if they are sealed for life etc, before throw the units away if the batteries died , I’d rather know before buying if it’s possible to fix them .
Yeah it’s a little quiet, but ultimately works great! Just used it today actually and it works really well!
