We are proud and humbled to today celebrate ROAR's first birthday - by bidding you farewell, and sending out a MASSIVE thank you for all of your support, in whatever shape that took, since our launch this time last year.
ROAR was always meant to be a lockdown project to bring a smile to the faces of ravers while journalistically chronicling the rave scene - and with raves on their way back, lockdown (sort of) lifting, and Latch expecting his second kid in September and having to do some paid work, our first birthday this week seemed a good time to wind it up...for now at least.
Proudly, we bow out having achieved a huge amount. That includes chronicling the '90s rave scene by interviewing in great depth - often for the first time - many of the legends who created the Decade of Rave; all our episodes being curated into the BRITISH LIBRARY SOUND ARCHIVE for future historians or rave obsessives; having our content viewed or listened to HALF A MILLION TIMES in a year, with some interviews being viewed or heard more than 20,000 times; bringing together a community of 5,000 subscribers on TH-cam and similar again on social media; giving new talent a chance to shine and supporting the scene's recent resurgence; and, most importantly, bringing joy and entertainment to the rave scene at a bleak time for us all where we couldn't go out raving.
As you'll hear in this farewell episode, while we are halting the crowdfund for obvious reasons, Latch will be keeping the ROAR website and channel open for as long as he can afford to do so, and we are not against creating future content, should the right opportunities arise...in fact, we may drop some stuff from time to time so do keep your eyes peeled!
We will happily continue to put out more ROAR TRACK ATTACKS as long as producers keep sending them - submit them via hello [at] roaruk [dot] com.
And if you know any businesspeople or wealthy philanthropists who'd like to help keep the project alive, even by allowing us to take on a young trainee, then we are all ears - again, it's hello [at] roaruk [dot] com.

We had hoped to depart by interviewing CARL COX and SHARKEY, but unfortunately events and timings conspired against us - so apologies for that. Happily, though, Sharkey is well and back where he belongs at the heart of the hardcore scene, and that's the most important thing.

Great series and worked perfectly within the lockdown period. Makes total sense with raves opening up and things gettingback to normal. Every journey has a start and end date and I'm sure they'll be another spin somewhere down the line. All the best in the future.

Such sad news, but equally understandable to bring it to a close on the one year anniversary. It’s such a shame to loose such an influential platform in its early stages, albeit growing weekly.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this channel from day one and in hindsight, it was definitely a channel that was missing from all your subscribers lives. You have consistently delivered outstanding content, week after week.
I have learnt so much more about the 90’s rave scene and perhaps, even about the dance music scene generally.
I really hope you continue/re-launch the channel in the future, even if it’s on a more sporadic /ad hoc basis. Best wishes with all future endeavours and I really hope to see another ‘ROAR’ notification pop up sometime very soon.

That’s such sad news for us all, so many interesting interviews, this Chanel has kept me going through the madness of the last 18 months or so. I’ve been lucky enough to be there from the late 80s onwards & see the scene grow into what it is today, unfortunately now you have to have a medical procedure (2 Jabs) to rave in clubs, which is criminal, so I guess the free party scene will be coming back in force due to the draconian government measures. Big love & thanks Tom & team...... Peace Love & Repetitive Beats 🙂

Sorry if this is a bit late...If you happen to read this ,I thoroughly enjoyed this channel and really hope you can re-boot it in the future...I do feel that the whole pirate radio scene wasn't explored as they are SO many stories to be told and was a very important part of the culture.just a thought.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Just like the 90s all good things come to an end. Nothing lasts forever. This was a fantastic project and a breath of fresh air while it lasted. Some amazing interviews and you and the whole crew should be incredibly proud of this project. I am luck enough to be playing at a gig with some legends myself on August 21st including Altern 8, Awsome 3, Dj Vibes, Dj Demand, Mc Connie to name but a few so if I get the opportunity to speak to Vibes I will drop your name in to him. Beyond gutted we didn't get the Sharkey interview but hey ho such is life. Best of luck moving forward and hope to see you again mate.

What a run! Massive thanks for all the wholesome content provided over lockdown, it was something that helped get us through! I've learnt alot about artists I follow that I would never have known. The questions were on point and it couldn't have been conducted better.

This is such somber news, I'm sorry to hear the channel has become unsustainable. I think you created something really wonderful and brought together a great community. The rave scene is such an underrated movement and I've always wished to see more documentation on what happened -- especially for people like me who couldn't experience it, so thank you so much for putting all this valuable content together. Even if you cannot continue doing interviews, I think the channel is worthy of being a hub for rave content, so you could maybe continue it by sharing videos other creators have made? It could be a wider range of projects such as promotions for upcoming events or video tributes to beloved songs. In any case, it was an honour to be on the channel and I am always open to working with you again, if you ever need help with any future projects I'd be delighted to contribute! Wishing you all the best with your job and second daughter (congratulations!)

Recording an interview could be done without much time or cost. It doesnt need fancy graphics or lots of editing. It just needs someone with a bit of time, passion to build the right connections and the suitable characteristics to interview well. Tom, you did a great job, thanks.

You’d be surprised. It’s noticeable when done on the cheap…and people are therefore less inclined to watch. Also, busy artists are less inclined to do it if it’s clearly a cheaply put together product.
Hopefully the podcast will inspire others to start similar shows but they will have massive shoes to fill. Thank you Latch, this has been the absolute highlight of a pretty rough 18 months or so.

Tom this channel has taken me back in time in such a positive way. Your interviews and guests have been first class. Not to mention the Tuesdays new old school tunes. No way Tom. Gutted. Every Friday first thing is do is look for the new pod. I didn't even listen to podcasts before this one. And although the only music I'm into of what you cover is gabber/hardcore techno I enjoyed listening to people from all the genres you covered as I'm old enough to have been listening and raving to this since 91, way before the split. Will you be going to Live Evil 7th August? That still has that original early rave vibe as does Chapel of Chaos by all accounts, but I not made that one yet.
