The Dirtnali part 6: Finishing the cab repair and heading to paint with our Sierra Denali project.

  • We will get our final piece welded in, the uni-side. I'll practice removing/installing the doors until I feel I am ready for a Nascar pit crew. Wait, they don't have doors in Nascars? Darn, at least it will look good on my resume. The hard part is done, just assembly left. Well, the bed too but that is easy and a separate job from the rest of the truck. Mr. Spotty was on vacation this week but he will return. Don't worry, he is not "in the pile"!

    Checking door fitment at every step of the welding process is crucial to achieving OEM level gap precision. Even if it means mounting and unmounting the door a whole bunch of times. I’m amazed your back didn’t give you any trouble this time! keep trucking, man. She looks awesome! Came home worn out late at night and saw the notif for the vid. I just had to watch it! It’s therapy!

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned the hard way a long time ago to check fitment at every step. I had to redo a job that everything measured out but the gaps were off. My back is always good during lifting. It is slight movements in the wrong direction that get me. Thanks for watching.

    Having done this type of work as well as video how to’s its commendable how much work and effort went into this series. Thankfully the reward was your own nice truck but man lots of work, I think the editing and camera work prob doubled the labor time. Great job on that truck and nice truck

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, the filming and editing take longer than the actual work. It was a nice break but it is turning into more of a job at this point. We'll see how much longer I can make it. I set goals I want to reach, after that, who knows. This has been the best truck I have ever owned. 8k miles on it since the rebuild and no complains other than I wish it had a sunroof. These mirrors are awesome. Power folding and the lights in them are great for lighting up EVERYTHING behind you when backing up or loading the truck in the dark. They work pretty good for towing as well. lol

    nice time making sure it was sealed and rust proofed as well as u could keeping it like factory sealed.

      One of my back injuries came from sledding but not the powered kind. Just the plastic kind and bad timing mixed with speed. I would rather spend a few extra minutes than hours fixing it later. Thanks for watching.

    I still don't understand why I watch your videos, it's just like being at work.
    Don't let him fool you folks, this stuff isn't easy. The hours it takes to do one project like this are pale in comparison to the hours of experience it takes to be able to do a project this well.
    That and many hours with a pick 😉
