Mario Land 2 was my first 2D Mario as well as one of my first GB games alongside Pokemon Yellow. I love everything about it from the levels, to the designs, to the music. It’s a childhood favorite for me. The Starman theme sounds like fart music though. Thought so even as a kid.
Wanna know something I find kinda intriguing? If you do get a game over, you lose any of the 6 gold coins you accumulated during your adventure and have to refight the bosses to get them back. It’s titillating to me because the boss levels in this game are one-and-done, so if you want a rematch, just lose all your lives.

And after that, he's taken over the Mario Land series, renamed it Wario Land and spawned four installments on the GB systems, one on Virtual Boy, a failed 3d one on Gamecube, a crappy one on DS, and a return to form one on Wii. And sadly we never got another one since, but at least we have the upcoming Pizza Tower to tie us over if we aren't going to get more Wario Land any time soon.
