  • Today we are in Judge Boyd's court over a probation violation. The defendant strangely shows no remorse, no resolve to improve, nor hardly any expressions whatsoever. Even the public defender is at a loss. Watch until the very end to see all the wild court moments - or dramatic silence, in this case!

I mean it would be pretty dumb to lie about something that's verifiable (though I'm sure it might happen occasionally). The disability rate in the US is 1/4. Most everyone has aging parents/grandparents and many don't have the finances to recruit professional support and are left caring for them themselves. Unusual stressors can accelerate bad behavior. I'm not justifying it, but it makes sense to me that you'd have a high rate of family stress when the court intersects an individual's life

I agree that she didn't have much to work with, but at the same time, duty counsel could have done a lot more. Like coach her client. Tell her the game plane and tell them she had a drug problem or something. The lawyer should have been the one volunteering that her client was holding down a job and looking after a relative, or saying that the prosecution was not seeking prison time, or stating that by "doing nothing" she meant "doing nothing criminal and staying out of trouble. At the very least she could have asked for more time to consider the pleadings with her client and the ramifications.

One of the new stipulations if continued on probation was a mental health evaluation. I think that was probably the public defenders last ditch effort to try and find some explanation as to why her client has zero F’s to give. I don't think so. I don't think lack of education, knowledge, family record ect... Plays a part. I think it's about the person's mind set, and literally how their feeling and what they are thinking at the moment a crime is being committed or thinking about commiting a crime like wanting to follow in someone's foot steps, prove toughness to someone, not caring about themselves and even boredom will play a part. These are just my thoughts only. I'm a felon multiple times over and my crimes were stupid off the top of my head, sure of the moment stuff. There's a whole lot of crimes people who have everything think about and do commit know what I mean. People who join gangs and hurt people, animals and so on. These comments are WILD. This lady was asking for probation to be dropped when she didn’t show up to any meetings, didn’t check in with the court, didn’t come when summoned, etc. Her attorney has to argue on her behalf, and execute her choices. It’s the lawyers job to show her the options and then argue for what the defendant chooses. Ya’ll are watching too much TV thinking it’s real 😂

Thank you for saying this. People keep talking badly about the lawyer- a public defender who has to take whatever they're given even if it's a lemon of a person- for doing what she can to give her client a right to a fair trial. She is doing all she can with what she was given to work with by her client and is representing what her client wants to the best of her ability. It sucks to be seen as a bad lawyer when you have no choice but to take bad clients.

People think attorneys can lie to the court like on tv. You work with the version your client gives you, if she insists the dog ate my homework that's what you gotta go with. As an attorney you cannot create your own version for the client, coz when questioned your dimwit client will say that's what my attorney said I must say happened 🤦🏽‍♀️😫 & the goes your licence 😡

She has a severe drug problem. You can look at her and all her nonverbal’s tell me that she has taken one too many bars of Xanax. She would’ve agreed to anything that judge said. If they send her the 30 years, she would’ve been like “cool“

I am a little creeped out here. This woman is not reacting in any way at any time. She was just given a jail sentence and did not react, no emotion, whatsoever. The only time I have seen that is in people who were sexually-abused as children. So, that is what is creeping me out. If this is the case, she has SERIOUS mental health issues-most of which will have never been addressed and will probably never be addressed.
