I came here today for the packing/shipping bit, and really appreciate you telling us it’s at the 6 min mark 🥰. Also you are the best “explainer of things” I have seen! You speak clearly, slowly and show every step, AND you explain the “why”. Plus you throw in some humor 😊Thank you so much and you now have a new subscriber! ❤️
Yay! Thanks so much for the kind words and for making my day! Welcome to the Prime Time family!
I like to pick up free drink coozies at church sales and use those for glasses. They add extra protection on the bottom and who doesn’t have a kitchen drawer full of them! Then finish as you did.
I really appreciate the step by step that you show to different aspects of shipping. So many TH-camrs go through it so fast it is hard to understand how you do something. Great content and I watch every episode you make!!!! Thanks!!!
Wow, thank you Mark. I really appreciate that.
Agree a great one.
I JUST sold a set of vintage glasses this morning and I thought..."I bet PTTH has a video to show me how to pack these guys!" You ALWAYS come through! Thank you for your thoroughness!
My pleasure!
I’ve sold and shipped a bit of glassware, crystal, and dishes. For glasses such as yours I do similar. I tend to make half cut slits in my dividing cardboard and put those together for ease before the glasses get placed in the first box. For crystal stemware, some very delicate and usually at a much higher cost, anything less than a separate container for each I have had failures. There may be some extra final box size and weights but more often than not I will be sorry if I try to save that extra cost on shipping. Some items that have worked for me with minimal cost are hard paper pressboard gift tubes, with or without lids/bases, the size for wine bottles that I have often found for deep clearance after holidays such as New Years or Christmas, family size “soup cans” of a similar size (I think around 50 oz size if you know anyone in commercial food service that uses and can retrieve), pvc plumbers pipe, any shipping tube of good strength and size, or just individual sized boxes of correct strength. I also try to do that with higher priced dishes. As an example, plates I will ship in new pizza boxes with plain sides on the exterior and then place those into another box. I try to keep 8”,10”,12” boxes on hand. Most plates can fit 2 per box with foam sheets and/or bubble wrap. I tend to get nice reviews for the shipping and also many customers tend to only bring out those higher priced items for special occasions and they like the option to personally store the items in those boxes and I shoot for higher sales prices so worth it to me
Such great tips! Thanks for taking the time to add all of that!
Waste of time and money, you only need packing paper.
Actually I do drop my boxes to the floor because i'd rather hear if it breaks before I ship it rather than when it's out of my hands :)
Lol. Almost happened here when PT chucked it at me
This was VERY helpful! I appreciate that you shared this with us.
@@eburro62331 thanks!
Great video and thank you for advocating for double boxing! Since I am both a seller and a collector myself focused on vintage kitchenware and collectibles, I ship and receive a lot of fragile items. Not only is it good customer service for those items to arrive in good condition, but once that vintage piece is broken, that’s one less piece of awesomeness out in the world. I hate when an irreplaceable item is lost to poor packaging. Bowl sets are the worst for knocking together in transit and breaking! I’ll share my tip for double boxing: I put a length of large-bubble bubble wrap in the empty box, making it long enough to match the flaps. Then I put another length of bubble wrap in the box at 90 degrees, so it’s kind of like a big x of bubble wrap in the box. Then I set the box containing the item(s) inside so there is two layers on the bottom and one layer on all four sides. Then I fold the “flaps” of bubble wrap over the top making two layers on the top. I add extra packing material to the sides and corners if needed. I hope my explanation made sense! :)
Thanks for that excellent description. Adds great value!
Now that’s good packaging! I kept thinking you were gonna say “but wait, there’s more” 😂 perfect!!!
LOL, well, I did write handle with care on the outside of it. LOL
Thank you! I also appreciate the tip to move ahead to 6 minutes!
Sure thing!
I swear by the DOUBLE BOX METHOD. The 1 time I didn't do it the item broke. Extra time and effort, even a few extra bucks on shipping is worth it to have safe shipping and a happy customer. Thanks glad I found your channel.
Thanks. So true. Please subscribe
You’re the best!! Thanks for all your information 🌞
Thanks Christine! Be sure to subscribe
Great video and thank you so much for the step-by-step instruction!!! I have some glasses that I've been so worried about listing due to shipping but this just gave me confidence to do it!!! 🤩 Thanks again!!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Good video, thanks. Now I know what to do with those awesome vintage glasses!
Thanks!
Why is no one talking about how well he's doing all of this with one hand?? Nice camera work with one hand while adding the cardboard slices to the glasses.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
You definitely hit this one out of the park-Grand Slam and then some. I've been leery about selling glasses and cups, but after seeing this video my confidence just went up. Thanks!!!
I love your humor! " woo hoo we're going to Mary's house!!"
You are great! Thanks for the video. Good energy. God Bless your business!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for shout out. I line my boxes with foam sheet that I got from for free. It like the foam glass sleeves uhaul sells. You can get dividers from you local liquor / package store too.
All great points. Enjoy the shakers!
Nice job! Good info. Well presented!
Thanks Jan!
Wow! That’s some professional packing, right there! Thanks for the great content.
Thanks man!
I'm so glad you double boxed that, lol. I always feel that I over pack but would rather that than have something break.
Right on Brenda
Very informative and excellent information on the packing of glasses. What size box did you use for the 2nd/shipping box?
Thanks. Not sure on the box dimensions because it was so long ago, but just follow the principles in this video with any size box and it will work wonders.
You just killed your competition on selling glasses 🤣. Anyone who wanted to know how to ship their glasses just threw them in the trash. Well done lol. Good video bud.
Great. Nice to have someone I trust with the exact type glasses I've been staring at for a month. The tensile strength for this style of glass is so low that I hate to hold them let alone ship them.
Glad it helped!
Amazing video Prime Time! As a NEW Reseller, I appreciate gems such as this. Thank you, sir!
Thanks Dom! Always some good instructional information!
Thanks Rosemary
Thank you -- appreciate your time to show how you do this!
My pleasure
You are an excellent teacher Mr Prime Time! Thank you!
Awesome poster!!! And it’s so cool that sexy daisy helped produce that part of the video. 😂💕💕
Lol. Sexy D in the house
I’m glad they’re so excited to come to my house lol Hey, P.T, be careful with those 😂😂😂 Those were such awesome shipping tips! Face the bubbles toward the glass, I had a total du moment there! Maybe I won’t be scared of breakables anymore! Thanks so much for the video and the awesome packing job! Hugs to Daisy, liked and shared, and, of course, take care! 😀
Thanks Mary! Enjoy the glasses.
Prime Time Treasure Hunter I will, thank you 😊 When I said I had a du moment, I meant that makes so much sense, but I never did it that way...I will now 😀
I wondered if Mary had seen this video and the care taken to ship her glasses. Now I know!
@@catiemyers3429 aw yes you’re right! I actually saw the video where Dominic either sourced them or came across them in his shed and was like I want those lol I follow his store on eBay and my purchases have never disappointed! 😀
Thanks so much! I have had some issues shipping steins and want to perfect my technique!
My pleasure. I’m glad you liked it. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. Thank you.
Perfect timing for this video. I have six character glasses to ship today!
Great!!!
Thanks so much for all the info.
Thanks for this step by step video, I never add the extra tape around each glass, so I will make sure to do this from now on. Awesome video and wow great packaging.!!
Is that a Footloose poster I see? Go 80's!! Great tips on shipping glasses. I had not used the cardboard to separate but will in the future!
Thanks Beth!! I’ll look!
Thanks for the tips
Thank you so much I'm shipping my first glass today!!
Very professional. Learned a lot. Thanks!
Thanks! I’m using your technique. I’mm also buying the scissors!
Great video explaining packing glassware. Question about gold glasses. I read they should not be wrapped in tissue because tissue sticks to the gold. Is is ok to wrap gold glasses directly in bubble wrap like you did for these glasses?
Hi from Wisconsin. Thanks for the great info. ✌
Thanks Mary. I appreciate it.
I go to my local dollar store on Monday and get their boxes. Monday is a big restocking day. They get glasses and other small items in boxes with dividers already in them.
Great idea to make pockets for each glass! I’ve decided I’m breaking up with my box cutter for those scissors 🥰
Thanks! It works great!
A great video. Learned so much. Thanks. Never assume we know it all! I don't. How did you decide on shipping price when you listed it? Have you done any videos on mugs like Starbucks? How was it shipped and also packed? Priority padded envelope? First class? Small box??
Very good, but you should put bubble wrap on the bottom of the second box as well as the top.
I like it to be solid but we all have different approaches. I can confirm these arrived safely to Mary.
Double boxing is so important. A few years ago my postman told me that a disgruntled worker in the warehouse will purposely try to break packages marked fragile so i stopped. Recently i use cheap professional looking fragile stickers so maybe it will help in any insurance claims and so far so good but i also pack as if someone will be rough.
Yes, you have to assume poor handling when boxing
Great tips...How about doing one with wine or cocktail glasses...Seems like a lot harder with the stems to keep them from breaking in shipment...I'll be looking out if you ever sell any and have to ship them...Thanks
Sure thing. If I get some to sell I’ll make a video about it.
Great video thanks
Your Daisy is like my Oreo-neither have any patience for our shenanigans lol.
Lol true
That is a good way to do it and I do something similar but I wrap each glass with bubble wrap and then wrap each individually with a layer of cardboard. Then I put all the glasses in a box with void fill and post. It's handier when you have cups and saucers or more awkward items. I'm just about to send out a 6 piece tea set so fingers crossed lol.
I love your packing......your stuff is always so hard to get open :) 5 stars.
Lol. It’s bulletproof!
Thanks you.
Dollar Tree has rolls of brown paper for $1 to substitute for newspaper
Great video. Do you put something (bubble, paper, etc) UNDER the box inside the box as well as on top? Looks like it will make it all the way, tho.
Where do I find the link to the shears you use?
Here: amzn.to/2O3PbLB
Would you use this same process for plastic cups? I have some vintage slurpee cups that break easily due to being brittle from age.
Thanks for the video. I am curious if you put "Fragile" stickers on the box when you ship glass. I have heard comments both for and against doing that step.
I put handle with care on it. It’s more for the customers peace of mind than anything. The reality is, and I did a video on this a while ago, is that writing fragile on the box is not going to change anything about how it is handled when it’s transported except possibly by the carrier who picks it up and drops it off at the doorstep. In order for the package to be handled in a different way during the actual transfer, then you need to purchase a fragile sticker from the post office which will cost you about $10 and then they will put it in a special section for fragile items.
Yea!
I would like to see the football players s&p shakers! At glance looked like UNC Tarheel colors...fingers crossed!
Here you go! Definitely looks UNC: rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575378759&campid=5338273189&customid=&icep_item=333616883209&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&toolid=11111
Great tip for packing glasses for sure, I have a question, do you think there is any advantage to pre-packing items, especially some that are heavy or difficult to pack like china and glassware.
Sure, I do that sometimes so that the items are ready to go once the order is placed.
Sure, I do that sometimes so that the items are ready to go once the order is placed.
We prepack any 1 of a kind, non-reprehensible items, in order to meet our same or next business day handling requirements. We also put a unique SKU so we do not mix up similiar items because the glass we sell all starts to look the same after a while.
helpful video. just curious. you put a layer of cardboard on the top of the glasses in the first box, but wouldn't the bottom be just as vulnerable and need one too? or is it because the glasses are stronger on the bottom?
Yes, the glasses are stronger on the bottom and it’s going to be double boxed but if you wanted to add that extra layer there’s certainly nothing wrong with that.
What did the postage cost on that package?
First? Thanks for the great content as always!
Thank you!
Great video! How do you calculate the weight for the shipping that's a lot of packing? I'm still packing to move so just had a few minutes to watch some videos.
I don’t. It’s a lot of pacing but still fairly light stuff. If you ship cubic rate, then weight is not a big issue.
How much was shipping on the 6 glasses that were double boxed? Did you use priority, ground etc?
About $15 via priority shipping as the buyer was two states over. When the person lives further away, use ground shipping via USPS, FedEx, or UPS for a cheaper rate compared to priority for bigger and/or heavier boxes.
What size is that second box?
Don't remember now. Sorry
After the second box, if your shipping cross country, would stuffing the box in the polymailer less than 18x18 and using pirateship help or do you discourage using a polymailer after all the steps you did?
It’s a point of controversy depending on how you interpret the rules. I’ve discussed it a bunch in the comments of my TH-cam video on pirate ship. .
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Thank you Dominic. I'd rather keep away from controversy.
good content!
Thanks! Did you see PT throw that box at me at the end? Lol
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter I DID! PT is has attitude. I like it.
Well god damn, i only had big bubbles wrap, already finished packing i hope it doesnt break, i also got it double boxed and put some layers inside just in case. Also used newspaper for the inside because i didnt had brown paper XD AND ITS GOING TO GERMANY, going to be a long month wait to know if it makes it
I love S&P shakers......sell 'em all the time.
Me too!
Is that another darth figure backing on the top shelf? ;)
Yep!
That's a great darth poster.
Indeed!
I pick the Big Sean poster.
OK.Do you remember when I found the big Sean shirt at the garage sale?
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter No. Not that I can think of.
I'd rather sell the ads out of older newspapers then stuff them in a box. Bubble wrap really is affordable for what it is, and if you're not shy you can build relationships with companies who will just give you it. Same as nice boxes.
@alexbutler6434 that’s exactly why we use modern newspaper with ads that have no value. We get lots of free local void fill material and lots of free boxes.
As a professional mover for over 12 years, I can say that this is the amateur way of packing, which is sufficient enough, but not as good as a professional pack.. we would use packing paper. And only packing paper. I could throw one of my boxes down a flight of stairs and nothing would break. 😎
I use packing paper as well but calling this an amateur way to pack is just wrong. The type of horrible packing that results in broken glassware is what is actually amateurish.
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter well, I meant from a professional standpoint.. no packing, professional, uses bubble wrap and dividers. Don’t get me wrong it does work specially for short distances.
What was the shipping on that? My family's throwing me to the wolves by volunteering me to start selling our parents' stuff on-line and the price of shipping freaks me out.
Whoa....PT....where has he been? ;)
Lol. Surprise!!!
That is a secure package
Thanks!
Daisy's on strike...
Lol. How do I get anything done?
👍✌
Newspaper inks are now soy based and non-toxic. No problem there!
All newspaper inks? Problem is also that some people use older newspapers that are hanging around like the one I had in my hands which has ink that will transfer on it.
I dont ship glass.. I break everything lol
Lol. You can do it
I'm not selling glassware, no Sir I will not sell....
