I fish a lot on my Kayak here in Arkansas...and I watch these videos in awe of how strong and fast even small saltwater fish are. I love your videos. You do such a great job with filming yourself and editing. Wish I lived closer to some saltwater so I could experience this but till then love living it through your videos. Great work! Keep it up.
appreciate the respect freshwater guys show for the salt. that said, i still think the toughest fighting fish and hardest hitting fish in the world lb for lb is a largemouth bass.
Hey Rich.... I'm retired so I would have fished with you! (and covered the gas:>) Keep the videos coming....and be extra careful offshore by your self.
We had an epic inshore wahoo bite this year in New Jersey, the pots with dozens of chicken dolphin had wolfpacks of big wahoo underneath, its always worth a pass or 2 with trolling lures in these conditions.
What a catch Rich! sick! love it! Got a sense and view of how big and wide the Boat is while you reeling that beast in. Lots of great work bro thanks for sharing! love the Boat!
Just a suggestion. Sometimes when the fish are skittish, let your bait drop with no weight (just free spool it). Sometimes the bigger fish are deeper and you can get them to bite. We pulled 3 gaffers off the pots by doing that. Shocked me, couldn't believe we had 3 gaffers
Used to fish Bull Dolphin (aka Mahi-Mahi, Dorado) near Marathon key. We used flying fish caught the nite before on catamaran. Trick is to hook 1 or two using two sep rods. reel them in close to boat. Leave them in the water, and use third rod to bring home the bacon, er, fish. Mahi are school fish and will not abandon their kin.
Yeah, I agree the kayak fishing was super fun to watch and a challenge for Rich. However; I can only watch so many light tackle stripper and bluefish trips. I appreciate Rich mixing it up to show how many tips and tricks he has and the variety of the fishery we are so blessed to have. Love the videos Rich. Keep them coming. And If you are ever in the Falmouth, MA area and want to try Buzzards Bay or even the Elizabeth islands and need a place to crash just hit me up. Great content for your Fishaholic audience.
One of the best ways to catch mahi Is to catch a bonito Cut it up in little chunks And throw some in the water And then Throw your line in With a nice chunk of Bonito And freeline. And another way Is a small bucktail jig with a strip of squid They both work good
Hello my friend, 1st of all you are really doing the most interesting fishing content with cool clear friendly performance, you make me enjoy the trip as i am with you there ... I have a request, kindly don't ignore it, i would like to make an episode only about this boat (the 1st one not the one at the end of video)and its configuration, thanks and always good luck!
@@treasurecoastwaters8400 the problem with “everyone should experience the place “ is that as soon as everyone is in these special places, they aren’t so special any longer. I live in what was a remote and pristine valley that is 92% public land. Went offshore for the first time on Sunday out of Indian River Inlet. We trolled for a couple of hours and didn't see a fish. We switched to bottom fishing and pulled tilefish in one after the other. Its the most ridiculous method of fishing I've ever done. LOL! Drop down, wait 3 to 30 seconds for the tip to twitch, throw the lever and the electric reel does all the work. I was hoping to hit some pots with light tackle for mahi, but we didn't have time. Next year we are going for tuna.
Shit how big is that boat? I run a 16ft starcraft 30 miles off Atlantic city just about every weekend solo. Im trying for either a 200 plus bluefin or 300 plus thresher. This year I've already smoked 2 20 plus mahi at the 28 mile wreck and an 87lb bluefin surprisingly in only 58ft of water about 4 miles off. Have faith in your motor
What was the water temp ? We had 78-81 in nj pre ida. Yesterday it was 68 off shore and 71 inshore. Made trolling for bluefin dismal, only a few allies to speak of. But inshore fluke bite was still solid. 3 on the first drop all 22 and larger
No disrespect at all or accusatory undertone but where is this at? I thought Mahi had to be 20 inches to the fork to keep them. I’m from florida and we were fined very hard for keeping some that were 20 total length but not to the fork.
Mahi are one of the fastest growing and most prolific salt water species in the world . They inhabit almost every ocean on earth. Sport fishing and killing some to eat will never harm the population. So before you tell people what to do, know your facts.
@@adamsmith3996 they said that about tuna They’re regulated now Chilean sea bass they’re from the deep ocean never fish them out! Really! Your argument doesn’t hold water !
@@JM-xr4zs im not against regulating fisheries. Tuna are netted in huge numbers in some seas. Because they school in huge numbers Wich is a problem for sure. Why is he keeping such little mahi they have to be 20 inches or over and those are definitely not 20 inches and he said they have to be 20 inches but they will taste the same and kept it I’m pretty sure

Love the fly rod. Mix it up some more with the fly. It is so difficult, great to see done well!
I’m from FL and I had no idea you could catch Mahi so far north. That’s awesome ✌🏿
Couldnt wake up to anything better rich🤟🏻always pushing the boundaries of what one man on a boat can do
Can’t wait to see you in Florida again. Its fun to watch the Snook fishing. Greats from Brazil.

I tried yesterday out in the kayak. Caught some fish but it wasn’t phenomenal. Contemplating if I should make a video of it.

I didn’t realize Mahi travelled that far north. Would have been interesting dropping one of those baby mahis down deep. 🤙
Wow
Yess you broke out the fly rod again!!!
Surprised yah there hahaha
Hi there, is there not a size limit on them? They seem almost too small to keep.

Nice tuna man
there peanuts Dolphin have to be 20 inches
That’s what I’m sayin cause then shits are too tiny
I was confused too, being I love on the Atlantic side and the limit is 20”. But in the gulf coast there is no size limit.
No size limit in the northeast
Nice fishing used a squid for bait 🤙🤩

How big is your boat ?
are there any regulation fishing for Mahi-mahi?
What model/size is your bubba net?
What kind of boat do you have?
Enjoy the videos but aren't they a bit to small to keep
Him:oh there is a ton of them here
Me:🧐 I don’t see none of them

Bro what’s that boat please
When fishing for mahi-mahi always leave on in the water by your boat 🚤
And you will catch a whole bunch
Yo small to keep
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Going offshore by yourself I never say is a good thing, my friend.
I was out at cia today sharking
1st one was a lil lit up peanut
Mantap frend
Those are not Mahi Mahi, those are Mahi Mini
Hahaha 🤣 yeah you’re right.
